Games / Re: No Man's Sky "Official" Megathread - Release Day (PS4 NA)
« on: August 09, 2016, 05:43:04 PM »

They claim they're going to do a multiplayer mode called "No Man's Sky Online" down the road as another patch, but the way they've explained it is that you can just warp to where ever your friend is, and to my understanding it will work similar to Terraria or Starbound's multiplayer. I expect this to not go well.

They can't play it off like this, don't blame me for expecting features you talked about since day one.

in other news, im skeptical about the (A.) multiplayer as two streamers have been on the same planet, at the same spot at the same time yet they can't see each other, (B.)(plus multiple reports of coming across already discovered planets) so i guess it's been scrapped or gotten rid of for now, or maybe its just a bug. thats not a problem for me, but i can see why its a turn off.

A. Multiplayer was pulled

B. Everyone starts in the same galaxy

Is there a way to un-stack items currently?

Edit: Oh nice the backpacks works with all some of Deadzone and Skoop's stuff
*only works with the chest pieces*

might work

There are different versions of each weapon in this pack right? Er, tiers of each weapon? Like iron/steel/gold and whatever? I was looking for the first release of the pack a long time ago and that was actually the pack I had in mind.

I've also noticed, that whenever you load into the server you have to refresh all of the crafting recipes for them to load in.

Slightly off topic:

Does anyone have a good weapon pack to go with this? Like, a medieval pack?

is there a time that you know when it happens
because i'm not seeing him enter a space station more than two times and neither time does he confuse the planets

Go to 26:16 to see him entering the planet if you want to see him on the previous planet/space station look before 26:16

Bug: I put three lock picks into a portable chest in my inventory. Went to lock pick a lock. Fails lock pick. Remaining two lock picks turn into another portable chest. Chest cannot be removed from inside the first portable chest.

Edit: The chest was removable after the first chest was placed on the ground. So, I just duplicated a chest.

I can't find my gba. It's probably corroded and unusable because last I saw it almost ten years ago, it was in a plastic bag with two double a batteries in it. Also it was transparent grey, I hate ugly transparent plastic.

Also, in the leaked copies of the game, every single planet had life on it. That's incredibly lame. The devs said 90% of planets wouldn't have life on them, so maybe it was a day 1 bug--which begs the question, did they generate a whole new galaxy with less life?

And the multiplayer sounds absolutely terrible. You're in singleplayer, until you are in the lucky 1% (the devs own words!) to encounter another player, who will probably kill you. And does that mean you can't cheat in the singleplayer, because you'd get an advantage over that random dude you might encounter one day?

They said their adding "dead moons" and they're pulling multiplayer until they do something called "No Man's Sky Online"

Also it's dumb that everyone and their brother seems to have a leaked copy.

The choices the devs for this game have been making are really strange. In a bad way. Like what zealot was touching on with the game now being confirmed a singleplayer game? I guess they really are going to try and do No Man's Sky Online. Sean Murray is always saying how they're just going to follow the community's lead, but it seems like either he's really behind or they're not actually listening to the majority of the community.

Also, after seeing the devs play their "golden version" it doesn't seem like much changed. The landscape is still bland, the trading system doesn't seem to have changed at all, and I've seen too many snow planets. Sean Murray himself on today's live stream went from one planet, then to a space station, then to another planet, and thought the planets were the same at first because they were nearly identical in color, plant life, and geography.

So I hopped on this server last night to see if someone had made a good city RPG. As usual, no one has. Please just stop with the Iban edits, or at least set it up so it's not unbalanced, broken, and repetitive.

Also the job prices wtf

I've been on the server, the map was so lazy and dreadful.  Obvious that hardly any planning went into it.
This basically sums up what I was going to say about the map. I don't care if its unfinished it's very clear the map would not have gotten better.

0/10 would not get rdmed again

charging money for features a stuffty unfinished server

edit: the education system has potential.

It's been really confusing to figure out if they're going to add a multiplayer element or not. Sean Murray was saying something about you could find other people, but it would just be incredibly rare. Now I hear that they scrapped that and are planning some sort of "No Man's Sky Online" after release, as a sort of second gamemode or game option.

I don't know if anyone touched on this yet so don't murder me if they have
With the additional fact of multiple physical copies of the game on PS4 leaking, and the various gameplays on youtube now the state of the game (before their "day 1 patch") the game looks very bland. They talked about thousands of randomly generated space ships/weapons/creatures, but I feel like a lot of their stuff is very similar (especially their monoliths, space stations, and basically all of the structures). I feel like I've seen it all in their game after only watching roughly four people play it for about three hours each. Not to mention the guy who got his hands on the first leaked copy claims to have reached the center of the universe in under 30 hours. From what I've seen I find that claim to be believable.

Edit: I also forgot to mention they've delayed it about three times. This game is overhyped

This is not to say I don't want the game, I just don't want to pay 60 dollars on a half baked game. If it was maybe 30 dollars I think it would be more reasonable.

The game just needs more content, I half expected them to flake on a lot of the randomness of the game. The game still looks really good an there's a lot to see, but honestly the "trading" is basic and with it sounding like there's not going to be any kind of multiplayer or very rare sightings of actual people at launch, the discovery system is kind of lame. Players should be able to have their own houses/bases/places to return to regularly and they should be able to have more than one ship. At the least allow us to have the giant freight ships and have our own factions if we want.

Edit: Apparently they have a large list of features that are coming and my comment is for now irrelevant

I honestly didn't even realize it was gonna be singleplayer only until maybe 12 months ago.
