General Discussion / hosting multiple servers using greek2me's dedicated server script

i've always had this issue with not being able to host multiple servers at once using greek2me's dedicated server script (on ubuntu 15.04 btw) for whatever reason. once i start up 1 server, whenever i attempt to start another one up the console echos back out an error that reads "Failed to start server". i would attempt to figure this issue out myself but the lack of debugging tools available and my very terrible knowledge of linux code or whatever its called makes this impossible for me

here's what i input to start my server up:
blockland-server -p /home/user/blockland
that starts the first server up without any errors
blockland-server -p /home/user/blockland2 -n 1
^ that just echos "Failed to start server"

/blockland2/'s ownership and permissions is the same as /blockland/'s, and i can actually start up a server from /blockland2/ fine without any errors if i do not have any servers running

could someone help me with my issue please

edit: and yes i did spend a lot of time searching the forums trying to find a fix to my issue

edit: to get to the farlands do this in your conosle: findclientbyname(your name here).player.setTransform("50000000 50000000 0"); and blamo you'll be dying in no time
also in order to get the best effect you have to have some level of shaders on. minimum shaders will work perfectly for getting the best effect btw

Drama / FishOilTablet - ddosing cunt

if you have seen the drama on ThatBlackCop, you may have read that FishOilTablet is associated with the ddos attacks on some servers recently. my server has fallen victim to 2 of these attacks, and i feel that i have a significant amount of proof that says that FishOilTablet has been conducting these ddos'.

let me start with console log that shows the second attack in progress:



this is a picture of the second ddos that has happened today. i have no idea how long it lasted, but the spam challenge requests go on for 135810 lines. i checked on my server's console and saw this happening, so immediately shut the server down.

i'm not going to post the console.log of the first ddos attack because it is exactly the same, but if you want to see it or see the full console.log of the first attack, pm me and i'll send it to you.

after the first ddos attack i put my server up and FishOilTablet connected to the server and immediately disconnected. i did not see this happen, but i do have connection logs on my server. i originally suspected him because of this, but this was not enough proof to show that he did ddos the server. i attempted to ban him, but i misspelled his ID and accidentally banned another ID. this part is very important, because he joined today and had a nice chat with the players on the server before he attacked.

let me make a summary for those who didn't bother to read it.

   -FishOilTablet connects

   -Players start confronting him about DDOS attacks, say that he should be banned/revoked

   -FishOilTablet gets a little defensive, claims that he isn't breaking any rules

   -DDOS starts

by the way, this is a real DDOS. this isn't a DOS. there are multiple IP's involved with both attacks.

  • OP WEAPONS (coming soon)

Suggest OP weapons that I should add! Examples include:
-Minigun that shoots rockets
-Shotgun that shoots 30 pellets
-Sniper Rifle that has homing bullets

Sometimes mysterious effects sometimes present themselves in battles... OH BOY I FIXED MISC EFFECTS HOORAY

Q: How do I apply for admin?

  A: I do not plan to have admin applications, because the server doesn't need more than one admin on every so often, which would be Charles or I.


Q: Will this gamemode be released?

  A: The current version is not in any way ready for release, but I may prepare a releasable version if enough people want it.


Q: The current gamemode or variation is boring. How can I change it?

  A: You can use the command /rtv to start a vote to change the gamemode, and you can also use the /viewrtv command to view the current amount of votes and how many are needed to force change the gamemode.


Q: I am seeing people with special hats and trails. How do I get these?

  A: If you donate to my server (see the bottom of the op), you can get a hat and/or trail of your choosing to equip on Battlemix.

About

A fun tribute to Police_Man's Upgrade-able Sniper TDM, in Scenery's Upgrade CTF you can purchase upgrades and weapons with kills for your team.

 - KILLING: Destroy your mortal enemies of poor color choice with an assortment of kill-for-money weapons.

 - EARNING: Every time you kill an enemy player, a number increases known as "Points." With points, you can...

 - UPGRADING: Purchase upgrades to your base, defenses, and weapons for the team. Every weapon purchased will be for your whole team.

 - FLAG CAPTURE: Being a CTF, there's a flag. You need to take it, and if your team has a return point, return it for a hefty sum of points.

"Kill things, earn things... BUY THING KILLERS."
