you could try but its less than a month old. i dont see how it got that dirty to not keep cool.

lol then it turns out that they installed it into one of the 3-pin connectors instead of the 4-pin CPU connector

no way
although;

1 x Power Fan connector(s) (3 -pin)

but its on the other side of the board. the wire wont reach

yeah open your case up and check the wire that runs into the motherboard from the cpu fan.

what do you see at the socket?

speedfan wont let me change it
only one it WILL let me change is the gpu

you dont have a 4 pin connector. the extra pin allows for speed control.

a 3 pin will always run at maximum speed.

if you connected a 3 pin connector into a 4 pin socket on the board. your fan will always run at full speed.
if you connected a 4 pin connector into a 4 pin socket on the board. you will have control over the fan speed.
if you connected a 3 pin connector into a 3 pin socket on the board. same as the first one.
if you connected a 4 pin connector into a 3 pin socket on the board. same as the first one.

So apparently the NSA is now tracking my ass since one day not too long ago I tried out Tor in a VM.
