Sorry if this is in the wrong board, but how would I make a a vehicle respawn by pushing a button only if someone isn't in it? For example, someone is in a jeep and pushing the button won't do anything, but it'll respawn it when someone gets out of it.

Also another question, is there any way for one slayer team to not be able to pass through bricks while another can?

Help / Game crashes when I add water into a save/build.
« on: January 13, 2015, 03:00:42 PM »
Whenever I add water via environmental options to my save, my game crashes. This happened last night also, before the recent update.
Video of the crash:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_fJe7rKixQ
Can this be fixed by exporting the save or something, or do I have to rebuild? I never edited the save file, and I have been working on this save over multiple days with little change, this is all the sudden.

SO WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?

Well since I finally got done with my school stuff, and Jairo's thread is on hiatus, I decided to make this. I had the idea for awhile now, but I think I made it work well enough for it to be an actual topic now. It's not exactly an rp, nor completely serious, so it's not like other nation-game-things here. It's completely up to the person for what decisions to make for the country.

Also, I will not be updating this OP for events in the topic, it's going to be used as an intro like your starting your first game.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
At the very beginning a country from my list is to be selected by the, you guessed it, community. I'll go over the nations in the next section. After a nation is selected, the main idea is for me to control trade and specific stuff, while the players make general decisions like where to place troops, colonize, event decisions, ideas, all that jazz. So it's up to the players to make it or break it. After 50 years or so of playing the first nation, I'll pick a random nation and ask if the players want to play as that nation or pick one of the original nations in this OP. I'll go more in depth into the game mechanics once we get started.

READ THIS BEFORE YOU CONTINUE

NATION SELECTION/ORIGINAL NATIONS
*highlighted areas are playable nations
**just in case you somehow missed it
EUROPE
Rise of the Ottomans
"Rumors of Ottoman weakness caused Pope Eugene IV to call for a crusade against them in 1443. With the West still embroiled in the Hundred Years War, the King of Hungary and Poland, Wladyslav III, took on the cause to finally expel the scourge of Christendom from Europe. Led by general John Hunyadi, "The White Knight", the Hungarian army saw some initial success, but was ultimately defeated. The abdicated Sultan Murad II came back to aid his son and led the Ottoman army to victory at the battle of Varna where King Wladyslav was killed. Peace was eventually signed but the way for further Ottoman expansion into eastern Europe now lay open..."

WESTERN EUROPE

Austria, emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, yeah. They usually get part of burgundy through an event. Currently they have no diplomatic relations. That will change right as we start the game. Sometimes they get to be a small colonizer.

Castile, truce with Granada right now. Gets missions to finish the Reconquista and to push into Northern Africa a bit. Off screen, they have the Canary islands. Great colonizer, as they get 2 free colonists from their national ideas. Also has events for a union with Aragon, eventually forming Spain.

England, finishing up the Hundred Years War and allied to Portugal. As you can see on the map, they share Great Britain with Scotland, have a bit of Ireland (which can be easily united under it's rule with diplomacy), and have bits and pieces in mainland Europe. Have events for the War of the Roses and such. Average colonizer. Can form the Kingdom of Great Britain.

France, the Big Blue Blob, Francypants, Francia 2.0, whatever you want to call it. Also in the Hundred Years War with Province against England. I highlighted their vassals (basically puppet states) with it. It's also protecting the independence of Scotland.

Portugal, small irrelevant Iberian state which usually gets in big wars with the western powers, completely occupied, and loses no mainland provinces. Basically the butt monkey of western Europe. Allied with England, has 3 early explorers, which historically was used to find a route to India, but can be used to find the New World instead. They have 2 more island provinces off-screen. Pretty good colonizer.

Venice, a trading nation with a big fleet. Has a good, yet old ruler who usually dies within 2 or 3 years. Republic so it has elections, stays as a moderate power, but usually declines. It has two island vassals, protects the independence of an island crusader state, and has a truce with the Ottomans.

EASTERN EUROPE

Muscovy, created Russia historically. First non-westernized nation and non-Catholic on this list. They're Orthodox and part of the Eastern Tech group, a bit slower than Western Tech. Has 3 vassals which I highlighted with it. Sometimes becomes the Russia we all know and love, but usually not as they get stomped by a newly buffed Novgorod. After that happens they usually get eaten piece by piece by the Hordes below. I have seen occurrences where they rise up by the end of the game and beat Novgorod and the Hordes back.

The Ottomans historically conquered almost all of north Africa, the Middle East, and the Balkans; Yet they usually get killed by rebels and nationalists if one thing goes wrong, allowing a power void in the Balkans which can bring a reborn Byzantium. They're at war with Albania and have truces with many of the minor Turkish states and some other Balkan states. They're Sunni and have their own unique Ottoman Tech group.

Poland has a unique government compared to the rest, a electoral monarchy. They elect rulers from different dynasties represented by other nations. They're Catholic, but are part of the Eastern Tech group. They have a vassal to the East and a March (military orientated vassal which can't be annexed without demoting them to a regular vassal) to the South. They also have a union over Lithuania, which can result in either a breakup or the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth.

Sweden is at the time under a Union with Norway and have Denmark as their overlord. They can declare independence from them, but half the time they fail and the other half they succeed, usually forming Scandinavia. If they fail, Denmark then usually forms Scandinavia. Never played them, but they can colonize a bit, and are probably a bit OP as the creators of the game are from Sweden, so are a bit biased to them.

ASIA
Kingdoms of the East
"Home to the majority of the world's population and the origin of the majority of its manufactured goods Asia is still in many ways the clear centre of the world in 1444. From Ming China to the myriad of states in India and Indochina, to the crumbling Timurid Empire and the wide steppes to its north, Asia so far remains fundamentally disinterested conflicts such as the crusade of Varna or the Hundred Year's War."

MIDDLE EAST

Qara Qoyunlu, don't really know much about this. A bit powerful, they are part of the Muslims Tech group and are Shia/Shiite.

The Timurids, otherwise known as Timmy. Currently are falling apart, but they can be saved. They can form the Mugals and Persia can pop out of them. Used to form into a massive blob in the previous version, don't know if they still do in the current version. They're Sunni and have the Nomad Tech group.

Top

INDIA

Bengal, again, don't know much about them. All I can say is that they're in a big trading center, they're Sunni, and they're part of the Indian Tech group.

Bahmanis, pretty powerful, probably second to Vijayanagar. They can form Hindustan, a cultural union nation for India, similar to Spain, Germany, and Great Britain. They're Sunni and are part of the Indian Tech group.

Vijayanagar is the most likely the form Hindustan and unite India without Europe doing it for them. Have an alliance, a vassal to the south on the island of Ceylon, and have 2 truces with the Eastern countries of India. They're Hindu unlike the other two, and are part of the Indian Tech group.

Top

INDOCHINA

Ayutthaya has two vassals, to the north and to the south, most likely as buffer states. Powerful in South East Asia, and rivals with Malacca. They're Buhddist and are part of the Chinese Tech group.

Malacca is a good trade power, rivals with Ayutthaya. They can form the cultural union nation of Malaya, which can colonize a fair bit. Their Sunni and are part of the Chinese Tech group.

Top

CHINA

The Ming dynasty of China. They're by far the largest nation on this list and have a unique government, a Celestial Empire. I quote from the wiki:
"The Celestial Empire gives a 10% discount to the cost of increasing stability, and as long as Ming is not in negative stability and the ruler has a decent legitimacy, they gain the Mandate of Heaven, which further gives a 10% discount to stability cost, and a 5 point reduction in unrest.

This system is in delicate balance, however. If stability drops below 0 or legitimacy drops below 60, Ming gets the punishing Mandate of Heaven Lost modifier, which causes +50% stability costs and a +5% unrest. This means a sudden 10% increase in unrest, which can utterly devastate Ming.

The celestial empire also imposes a minimum 50% local autonomy on all its provinces, this means only 50% of tax, manpower and trading power is available to Ming, combined with other maluses from different cultures and the Chinese bureaucracy, often only 10% of a province's tax and manpower is available for Ming."
This can be undone by westernizing. Ming also has to fear the Manchu once they form from the tribes to the North, as they can invade Ming and form the Qing dynasty. Their obviously part of the Chinese Tech group and are Confucian.

Korea, although small, is powerful enough to stand by itself. They can dominate the Beijing trade node if done right, as also expand north a fair bit. Their part of the Chinese Tech group and are also Confucian.

Top

JAPAN

Japan controls over all of the Daimyos of the islands of Japan, expect for the North where Ainu lies. They are usually constantly at war with each other, and if done right, Japan can unite the island much earlier than history. They can compare to China if they grow powerful enough and can colonize a good bit. They are Shinto and are part of the Chinese Tech group.

Yamana is a Daimyo under Japan, but has the potential to overthrow the Shogun and unite japan for them self. They get around the same game as Japan after Japan is united if you unite Japan as Japan though.

AFRICA

Empires of the Sands
"In 1444 Africa is a region full of emerging kingdoms. In the east the Christian Ethiopian empire is experiencing a golden age under its celebrated ruler Zara Yakob. In West Africa the space left by the crumbling Mali empire is being filled by rising states such as Songhai. An ongoing crCIA in the Maghreb will soon result in the rebirth of a strong Moroccan kingdom in the northwest, while the northeast becomes the playground of European and Turkish imperialists."

Air is a small country located on the North Easternmost edge of Western Africa. It is home to endless deserts, large salt and wool fields and most importantly, bad puns. It is advisable to play with Air all the way to Diplomatic Technology level 22 just to experience the joy that comes from creating Earth, Fire and Water as client states. They're Sunni and are part of the Sub-Saharan Tech group.

Ajuuraan starts in a relatively safe and easy position, with a vassal their east. They can expand into the south a bit, but fighting the north will be a harder challenge as they're part of the Muslim Tech group and have better tech than it, as they are part of the Indian Tech group. They're also Sunni.

Ethiopia is the most powerful nation in the Horn of Africa, with many opportunities to expand and many events to add flavor and challenges. They're probably the most in-depth nation flavor-related in Africa. They're an oddball, as they're Coptic (basically Egyptian Christianity). They're also part of the Muslim Tech group.

Kanem Bornu starts off in a average start, but has the potential to start to snowball a bit once it beats its neighbors. Their neighbors start off with roughly the same stats, but with skillful playing, can be beaten. The second "wave" of neighbors, however, are weak and small. This allows them to expand rapidly once they break out of their start. They're Sunni and are part of the Sub-Saharan Tech group.

Kilwa is the major power in South-East Africa. It has a vassal to it's south and can most likely overrun it's neighbors. They're Sunni and are part of the Indian Tech group.

Mali, once a great empire, is now crumbling to it's neighbors and internal affairs. They can gain back that wealth and power by expanding through the neighboring kingdoms, but that will be a challenge. Their Sunni and are part of the Sub-Saharan Tech group.

Morocco is a generally big power in North-West Africa, unless Spain and Portugal wreaks up your stuff. They can generaly expand east and later south with their military and events. With enough power they can colonize what's left of the Americas. They're Sunni and are part of the Muslim tech group.

Historically Songhai grew into a mighty empire, overrunning the Mali and gaining many trade routes. They were overrun by Morocco, Guns v.s. Spears style. They can expand into the neighboring warring kingdoms with enough luck and skill. They're Sunni and are part of the Sub-Saharan Tech group.

The Tunis, or The Hafsids, are a powerful kingdom in central North Africa. They can easily take over North Africa with enough luck and a bit of Ottoman power. They're Sunni and are part of the Muslim Tech group.

THE AMERICAS
The First Nations
"50 years prior its encounter with Columbus the Americas are a huge and diverse region. In the south Cusco has just begun its rise from a minor kingdom to the great Inca empire. In central America the newly formed Aztec Triple Alliance is but one of many strong regional powers. In North America, perhaps the most divided region of all, the Iroquois and Huron federations have just begun to form."

NORTH AMERICA

The Creek, or the Muscogee, are a southern Native American tribe. They usually expand a bit into the Cherokee's land and get a coastal province or two when they get their colonist. They're Totemist and are part of the North American tech group.

The Huron, or The Wyandot, are the most powerful North American native we can play as. They rival with the Iroquois and can conquer a lot before the Europeans arrive. They're Totemist and part of the North American tech group.

The Iroquois represent the five (later six) nations bound together in a confederacy. They can grow up to a decent size and rival with the Huron, their most powerful neighbor. They're Totemist and are part of the North American tech group.

MESOAMERICA AMERICA

The Aztec nation represents the triple alliance of Tenochtitlan, Texcoco, and Tlacopan. They can expand quite a bit in Mesoamerica before the Spanish, Portugese, French, or English arrive. They're Animist and are part of the Mesoamerican Tech group.

The Tarascan was an enemy of the Aztec Empire, and fought many wars. They blocked Aztec expansion to the northwest, and they fortified and patrolled their borders with the Aztecs, developing the first territorial state of Mesoamerica. Can wipe out the Aztecs if you try hard enough. They're also Animist and are part of the Mesoamerican Tech group.

Top

SOUTH AMERICA

The Chimu basically dominated the Andes before Cusco came along and smacked their butt. They dominated through there Sphere of Influence though, not by directly owning land. They're Animist and are part of the Andean Tech group.

Cusco, or Cuzco, historically defeated the Chimu's empire and formed the Inca Empire, the largest empire in the pre-Columbian Americas. Have pretty great ideas compared to the rest of the Andes, it can easily conqueror the Americas in the hands of a experienced player. They're also Animist and are part of the Andean Tech group.

Literally the most MLG snowball fight I've ever been in - gr8dayseth

SERVER

As the title says, the server hosts a snowball fight (2 months early I may add). There are two teams, the Red Raiders and the Blue Bashers, and one goal: whoever gets 20 points under 10 minutes wins the game for the team! There are music loops played in the background.

stuff like crusader kings, europa universalis, and victoria (i'm not sure about hearts of iron because it's a pure wargame)

i have victoria 2 (all dlc), hearts of iron 3 (all 3 major dlc+soviet music), and europa universalis 4 (res publica, conquest of paradise, wealth of nations+various minor dlc). i'm okay at eu4 and v2, and terrible at hoi3 (mostly let the ai do my work).

if you don't know what i'm talking about here's some stuff (all my pictures):

Europa Universalis IV:

Victoria 2 (Using the POP Demand Mod):

Hearts of Iron 3 (No DLC):

if you want more info just look up the games

post things you dislike greatly and yeah

otherkin, like, you're not some other species. you are human, you function like a human, and half of the time you have no idea what you're talking about in according to your animal (saying raw meat tastes better to wolves when its really more of making it digest better, while a human can't eat it because it will kill you cause you're not a wolf)
laissez faire
anarchists and extreme libertarian(government limited as possible), both the same to me
national socialists, fascists, nationalistism, and imperialists alike
people who say patriotism and nationalism are the same thing. saying that you support your nations ideals and how they work is not saying that they're number 1 and deserve more from other nations
sjws, no matter what you "fight" for or who you are
fake loveualities, people who identify as being a fake loveuality, and the people who come with them (not going to go into panloveuality because I don't want to argue at 4 am)
non-binary stuff(again, not going to really go into it)
people who don't know when to loving stop
inflated egos
damage control (this includes using "top lel/kek/lol" when responding to an argument that insults, which is stupid anyway)
fandoms that get away with spewing shut (*coughcough*transformers*coughcough*)
people that think that an eye for an eye in a justice system would be acceptable
people who say that true stereotypes (weird to say that) are false and people who say false stereotypes are true
people who CANT loving KEEP THEIR richardS IN THEIR PANTS UGH
and that's all for now
