Drama / Extrude - Enormous friend
« on: August 05, 2011, 04:47:00 PM »
Extrude - Enormous friend
Extrude is somewhat well-known for being an starfish. I have been talking to him for over a year now and I can agree with full confidence. He is generally agressive to people for no reason, acts like a douche, and among other things, makes half-assed models. He's obsessed with his horrid ego, claiming to always be right. He insults people's taste in music, spams forums, and is an argumentative, stubborn, agressive idiot.

Quotes!
Extrude's best quotes that show us his true personality!

Uncalled for, starfish. It's a simple suggestion.

You could have simply said it isn't stolen, instead of giving that guy a crappy insult.

We're all entitled to opinions, aren't we?

You could, again, just ask him nicely.

Except for Gravity Cat's FAMAS, which is in his wildly popular weapon pack. On a related note, Extrude has admitted to copying GCat's ideas for the majority of his work.

One of the best examples of Extrude's outrageous and offensive behavior.

Again, we all have our own opinions. Some of us think bright eye-raping orange is ugly.

This was from his edit of the default gun, which he claimed to have made from scratch. For some reason I don't think simple edits of default content are THE most popular genre of anything.

I think this is a good way to sum up this section. He hates us all!

Steam Conversations!
All of Extrude's behind-the-scenes dumbassery.

He says right to me that the Cake version of "War Pigs" is better than the Black Sabbath version, just to piss me off because he knows I like classic rock. I try to just move on, but he has to make it serious. There's no argument here, Black Sabbath wrote the song, they performed it for decades before Cake performed it. Not saying Cake is bad, he just isn't as good as Black Sabbath when it comes to their own loving songs.

Okay what lol. Minecraft is not realistic, nor are the mushrooms done. He's criticizing a game developer for unfinished work when all he does is make bad looking guns for TGE.

Right after an argument, he starts begging for me to gift him a game. Douchebag.

We're talking about an indie game called Project: Zomboid, an isometric zombie survival game. L4D2 is a 3D game, Zomboid is not. Why the forget are you comparing a 2D indie game to a 3D professionally produced game dumbass.

He claims to have had a bad round in Call of Duty: MW2, so I just pass it off and joke around to cheer him up. Then what happens? He insults me.

The following is a conversation about how much of a CoDcigarette he is. Note, I like CoD. It's just the crazy fans that obsess over it that annoy me. Extrude is one of those morons who think graphics are the game, and doesn't care how horrid the FPS he's playing is.

He basically wants every single FPS to be like Call of Duty, no matter how creative it is. L4D2 sucks because it doesn't have a story (yes it does) nor campaign (again, it does). In addition, TF2 sucks because it has no grenades. Note how when I try to change the subject, he reverts to a childlike state with the "umad" phrase, furhter proving his degeneracy.

Really? Because last time I checked, Crysis doesn't run on TGE for a reason. Jesus you're stupid.

Hypocrisy!
Extrude contradicts his horrible arguments as much as he creates them!

This is an IRC chat where he instigates a fight with someone, loving with them by saying they are under copyright infringement.

Then he's suddenly fully familiar with any law he needs to defend himself! Despite the person he argues with in image two is wrong, it's still pretty starfish-ish of him to do that.

I only did this to prove how stupid what he said here was:

Yeah, some of us don't know how to change stuff on guns, let alone make them. That's kind of why we downloaded the guns.

Other Dramas!
Extrude's so obnoxious, he's bound to have been drama'd before right? Right! He used to go by the name Moonwalker, so here are allof his dramas:

I'm involved in some of these because Extrude and I used to be pals. Any time I've ever banned someone from his server (like Mr. Pillz) I was out of my mind. Plus me and Pillz have made up since then. :D

End
So Extrude/Moonwalker is quite possibly the biggest dumbass on Blockland. Many people already agree with me, and I'm sure you do too now. Discuss his menace.

Modification Help / Adding Health via Damage
« on: August 02, 2011, 11:40:16 PM »
I'm wondering, is it possible to add health to the player if they damage another player through a script? I searched "adding health" in Coding Help and din't get ay results, so some help would be nice. For example, the Black Box adds fifteen health everytime you damage another player. I want to know if the same thing can be done in a script.

Thanks for help.

Creativity / Mega Bear's Art - WTF IS THIS AAAAHHHHHH
« on: August 01, 2011, 07:48:48 PM »
I like to make lots of shopped stuff in Paint.NET, pretty much all of it is funny in one way or another. Some of my art isn't shopped, but are just comics or video game screenshots. Regardless, I try to keep humor present in all of my stuff. Keep in mind my comics are not supposed to look good--in fact, they're supposed to look bad, for comedic effect. Some also include tribal or otherwise discriminatory images and words. They're just jokes, and since they're on the Internet these shouldn't be suprising.

"Hyperbole"

"This is a Reference to Snakes on a Plane"

"Godly Mega Bear" Made from my old avatar.

"Minecraft Attack"

"Manliest Bad-ass Image in the History of Manly Men, Bad-ass Men, Men with Bad Asses, and Badassery"

"Crucifixion" Inspired by someone else's work, I just made a better looking version.

"Mega Bear Memes"

"Marry's Crod"

"Lament for Pvt. Gothboy77" Left column is what the Marijuana-affected Gothboy77 sees, right is what is actually happening.

"Terraria's Bowels"

"The Last Supper" I don't remember posing for this but I guess I did.

"Mohammed" It's a parody of the song "Lola" by the Kinks.

"Capitalism at its Best!"

"...lolwut?"

"Roman Shower for Everybody!"
This image has slightly adult content, made in Garry's Mod. No "parts" are visible, it's Alyx giving a roman shower. Click to see: http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/594689925593768359/42C33791FAD0292BA7BB433B3C9D1A5019759395/
Why do I have this horrid image? Backstory time: If you're wondering why I have this, well, I was racing with Extrude and needed a good weapon. He had turrets and missiles strapped to his jeep, I had a thruster and Alyx. All I had to do was pull in front of him with my thrusters, and I would turn the emitter on and it would appear as if Alyx was giving him a roman shower, which caused him to laugh so hard he couldn't steer. Disgusting, yes, but I won the race and that's all that matters. By the way I showed this to Loopyla and he said it was his new desktop background.

"Onwards to Victory!"

That's all for now!

Off Topic / Gay Marriage
« on: July 24, 2011, 02:22:18 PM »
The last topic about this died off quite some time ago if I remember correctly, and society's changes I'd bound to affect our opinions. Therefore, we can discuss this tender issue once again.

My opinion is that it should be legalized. If the two people truly love each other, let them verify it. What I don't understand is the argument over whether or not people are born homoloveual. People get to choose their political, religious, etc. preference and they all get equal treatment (to a degree, some still view Muslims as evil). Christianity doesn't say there's anything wrong with homoloveuality, that's the old testament. Anyone who says otherwise is a religious moron obsessed with their blind faith.

Discuss.

Games / iPod, iPhone, and iPad Games/Apps
« on: July 21, 2011, 01:48:26 PM »
Post your favorite iPod, iPhone, and iPad games. Apps in general are allowed, but keep in mind we're really interested in games. Make sure to provide a description, pictures/videos, and a link if possible. Here are some notable ones I've found (click the title to be taken to the app store page):

Tiny Tower
Tiny Tower is a simulation game where you build your own skyscraper, populate it, then add floors to the tower to make money that can be used to buy more floors. The floors of the tower are used to either generate revenue or provide housing. There is a very strategic side to the game, as certain bitizens (that's what they're called!) can perform certain jobs better. In addition, each bitizen has a dream job, and if you put the to work at their dream job, you earn more money. It's very fun!

Virtuoso
Virtuoso is a musical instrument simulator. The free version comes with a grand piano and broken pub piano, but you can buy plenty of other splendid instruments for a dollar each. It has many great features, including the most notable one called "TrueVelocity." This causes each note you play to be softer or louder based on how hard you tap each key. The pianos also have all eighty-eight keys a normal piano would have, but you can adjust how many of the keys are viewed on the screen in the options and are then able to scroll through all the keys using a slider. You're also able to play with all the fingers you have, making this a must for any musician.

Trade Nations
In Trade Nations, you build a town that gets progressively larger as you gain levels, collect resources, and house villagers. You can trade with friends, and buy and sell resources for money on a global market.

Other notable apps that may be added soon: iTracer HD, Spy Cams, Big Button Box, etc. I'm not sure how frequently I will update this, but I will bump it when new apps are added.

Now you can post your favorites!

Drama / Disconnected Rip Me Off
« on: July 16, 2011, 11:23:06 PM »
We (Disconaked and I) had a love scheduled today. Disconnected didn't love me and I gave him a nickel, a jar of feathers (he said they were for star fish tickling), and a lightbulb. Still no love and it's almost midnight. Talk about how much of an ass (not the lovey kind) he (Disconskednected) is ([iz]
- verb 1. third person singular present indicative of be).

Off Topic / Book Discussion
« on: July 15, 2011, 10:11:10 PM »
Tell us about your favorite books, bad books, books with good endings, etc.

I've got a few favorites, though I generally read sci-fi because everything else either has a stuffty storyline with simplistic unimaginative plots or no good literary elements and plot devices.

• Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut.
It's about a man named Billy Pilgrim who becomes unstuck in time, causing him to move around his life and experience everything that happens to him, most of the events center around his experiences in WWII. Along the way he meets an alien species that teach him about the fourth dimension, allowing him to embrace his condition. Listen: the book is loving amazing. I've read it seven times in a year because of Vonnegut's amazing satirical metaphors that point out the flaws with society, war, and some political matters. You can't live until reading this book. I can't even begin to tell you how perfect this book is.
• Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card.
A young boy is recruited by the military for space-based combat against an alien species. He is forced to do many things he doesn't want to, and eventually learns the value of an individual life. The ending made me cry like a baby.
• Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert A. Heinlein.
This is widely regarded as THE most popular science fiction novel ever, and I found it very interesting. A man born on Mars is taken to Earth and converted to a branch of Christianity, and then experiences life on Earth to the fullest. It's hard to comprehend, but to dumb it down, we are shown the effect religion and a few other of society's elements would have on someone new to Earth, thus with an innocent mind. Wonderful read.

I'd like to write about some others like Planet of the Apes or Franz Kafka's work, but I'm eager to see what you guys like.

Maps / Mega Bear's Maps - Mourn Here for our Loss
« on: July 09, 2011, 08:26:53 PM »

If you are a modder/server host, read the note at the bottom of the topic!

This is a list of my current maps. Constructive criticism is welcome. Oh, who am I kidding? Also, I take requests if I like the idea. Each map has one main image to represent it, but the link to its RTB page will usually contain three or four total images.

Cool Thing: Nasoa revived a project he and I worked on a while ago called Combat Cityscape. Check his project topic to see an image of his retextured version of the interior I gave him!

Phillpines
Collaboration from Blockland's Masterminds. And by that, I mean random people from Aeschylus's server.

Phillpines is a map requested by Phillip. I was on Aeschylus's server when this genius joined and requested the map, and instantly the server's natural masterminds assisted me in my brainstorming. Along came this beautiful map, comprised of interiors from my unreleased/broken maps.

This map is the most psychadelic experience you can have without dying. An otherwise normal pair of islands with pretty ground textures gone wrong; floating shapes and a checkerboard, a crashed spaceship, large pink statues, a lollipop forest, lavender water, a skybox with streaks of pink ... it's crazy, while still giving players a great amount of space to build in.

Normally I would just upload a map to RTB and link it in my map topic, but I feel my more interesting maps should get a little spotlight for themselves.

Nuclear Winter
A war has plunged this world into a Nuclear Winter.

Nuclear Winter is an idea that occured to me whilst playing on a Garry's Mod server in which you are stuck in a wintery landscape and must survive off of resources and other people. I took this idea and blended it with an older idea for a map I had, creating Nuclear Winter.

Features:
- You spawn in a base with exactly 64x64 space to build in, with the entire base being made of brick textures. It goes without saying, the entire base is aligned to brick grid! Yes!
- Really cool textures thanks to Boom.
- Mostly terrain map, so it's good for themed builds.
- Many dead trees and stumps scattered about the landscape.
- Custom skybox that sets the tone wonderfully.

Battle Arena
An arena great for zombies, DMs, fort wars, and any other methods of killing blockheads.

My least favorite map.

Battle Arena is an open-ended sandbox arena that is great for any kind of deathmatch, especially fort wars. It has many platforms and walkways that lead above the ground. Running through the map is a river with bridges crossing over it. Players are able to move all around the arena for extremely varied TDMs/DMs. There is also a small spectators' box inside the wall if you'd like to watch any battles.

Mega Bear Racetrack
Race through a track full of twists and turns with friends.

Mega Bear Racetrack will appear as "MB Racetrack" on the map list.

Features:
- Large interior for long races.
- Elevated pathways to drive on--don't fall off!
- Varied track design, so pay attention to the road or you may take a wrong turn right into a wall!
- Manipulated vertices in the interior to make smoother curves and better ramps.
- Multiple jumps for the daredevils out there.

Recommended vehicles: Jeep, BABY, Dragster, or any other car that can drive as fast as the Jeep.

Pasture
A barnayard fit for any animal.

Pasture is a large interior featuring a barn and a fence on the side for farm animals.

Features:
• Good ambient lighting so the barn doesn't get dull.
• Stunning skybocks.
• Hay bales and crates inside the barn.
• Nice trees and reasonably flat terrain for varied building.
• More or less aligned to the brick grid.

Map made for AoE.

Aviation
A map full of aerial obstacles for the true pilot!

"Aviation" includes many fun features for any aeronautics enthusiast. The lighting is nice and bright with very clear fog to give you a feeling of happiness in this wonderful map. Aviation is also perfect for any RP!

Features:
- Many rings in the air for you to fly through.
- A city area on an island for you to zoom amongst skyscrapers and within alleys.
- Two islands with airports on them for dogfights and RPs. The airports have a terminal for blockheads to enter and watch planes take off, a hanger for up to four stunt planes, and a runway large enough to fit Stratofortress' Hercules.
- Two aircraft carriers in the water between the three islands.

All the islands are located close to each other so there's no getting lost, nor is there a reason to fly off into a random direction. All the fun is in one place! A lot of the map is aligned to the brick grid so go ahead and build. Torque also got a little overzealous with the shadows, but it's no big deal.

Have fun!

Small Office
Build in a life-size office!

Small Office is a room with many fun things to do. You can build stuff inside a dresser, hang around by the computer, get down to your roots by the potted plant--the activities go on! The map features a secret room, and the windows have been left open by the owner of this personal study for some air, meaning you can go outside if you'd like. All the textures (except for the computer screen and keyboard) are default, having either been taken from Bedroom or Kitchen.

Known glitches:
• On the desk, one of the faces are invisible but still has collision. This is unfixable, but the face itself is very minor and shouldn't prove to be an issue.

There are no other glitches!

Mega Bear Battlefield
An island battlefield set in a jungle!

Map requested by Extrude.

This is an island-based map with jungle-like textures and plenty of trees. It uses custom interiors, and is best for TDMs or DMs. It would, in most cases, be a better idea to make each of the camps their own bases instead of camps vs. jungle base, due to lack of cover. Have fun!

Zombie Farmstead
An abandoned farmstead, now zombie-infested!

The map features:
- Custom skybox! Themed to be night for more of a scary effect.
- Rain! To add to the atmosphere, of course.
- Custom lighting! This makes the map a total night time map, with the only light coming from an illuminated full moon.
- Zombies in mind! The map is an island with no other shores that you can reach by swimming (there are, however, mountains in the skybox to remind you that the farmstead is part of a town of sorts). The island is also very gloomy, as rain is pounding it during the night. Recommended for 2-12 player survival or versus zombie games.

Note: The houses are not a single texture. They have shingles on the roof and different wood textures for the walls and floor. Anyone who insists they are a single texture are idiots spouting random accusations in the dark without even bothering to look at the pictures.

Have fun!

EDIT: Some people have been saying I got the idea for this map from one in TF2. Although I do own and play TF2 regularly, this is not the case at all. That is merely an odd coincedence. Even if I did get the idea from TF2, I would have said so, as I made a map based off Halo--so evidently I see nothing wrong with making maps based off other games.

I sometimes take suggestions, but they have to be really good. I also am willing to make interiors for mappers that are unable to do so. Additionally, if you are working on a large project and would like a map to go with it (modern weapon pack, big AI pack, etc.) I would be more than happy to contribute with a map tailored specifically to your mod. In coordinance with that, I also make maps specifically for servers. Want to host an RPG or TDM with specific map but lack the experience to make one? Just ask me!
