Off Topic / Chrome Bookmarks Bar Question

Is it possible on Google Chrome to change the bookmarks on the bookmarks bar to icons rather than icons and titles? I'd like to be able to fit a multitude of bookmarks on it rather than twelve or so.

Forum Games / AWOKEN ••• A Journey to Find Your Identity

This thread is going to be about the adventure of the main protagonist and his journey through time and space. He does not know who he is, where he is, or how he got here. It is up to you to guide him home by discovering clues about his past and piecing them together.


I will use a somewhat unique art style for this project. Rather than a generic MS Paint adventure, I will use Paint.NET for layering brush strokes and adding borders, items, creatures, etc. I'm also pretty horrible at drawing with a mouse so I'm going to put a lot of work into this, so I hope you enjoy it!

Off Topic / Anyone Else Have Security Cameras in Their Room?

I sure do, it's mounted to the top of my computer monitor and can observe my entire room while I'm at school. On average each filming is about seven hours. I don't do this for actual security reasons, of course (though it would be great to catch a robber in my room one of these days, for ID purposes). I mainly do this because it's cool to see what happens in my room while I'm gone. My cats come and go, continuously exchanging time on the bed. Sometimes I even catch a family member coming in just to play my guitar or look at my books.

Also ghosts.

>Seniors' last day.
>I'm in a chemistry class with upperclassman and they all like me so they inform me of the food fight supposed to happen.
>Go to lunch.
>A couple seniors come to our table and ask for ammo.
>Give them a pickle.
>Friends are like "wtf was that???"
>Tell them there's going to be a food fight apparently.
>We all decided it's probably going to be between five seniors and last like two seconds.
>We watch the entire lunch room anyway.
>Every few minutes someone will throw a piece of plastic to get it started but nothing happens so we're like "lol yeah this sucks."
>Kid stands up.
>Keep in mind the cafeteria is huge, about the size of every room in a two story house combined. Enough space for three hundred people to sit down and eat.
>I'm the only one who notices the guy stand up, valiantly wielding parfait.
>He throws it, everyone has seen him by now.
>Simultaneous "OH stuff" amongst the entire lunchroom.
>Literally two seconds after the guy threw the parfait everybody stands up.
>Food is being hurled in every direction before the parfait has even hit its victim.
>I swear to god I was five seconds from lobbing my milk.
>Me, a few friends, and some other people that sit near the bathroom sprint into said bathroom for safety.

A New Game
 

Hi, I'm Notch, and this is my new game. It's going to be a space game, and it's quite ambitious!

The game is still extremely early in development, but like we did with Minecraft, we expect to release it early and let the players help me shape the game as it grows.

The cost of the game is still undecided, but it's likely there will be a monthly fee for joining the Multiverse as we are going to emulate all computers and physics even when players aren't logged in.

 
Backstory and Setting
 

In a parallel universe where the space race never ended, space travel was gaining popularity amongst corporations and rich individuals.

In 1988, a brand new deep sleep cell was released, compatible with all popular 16 bit computers. Unfortunately, it used big endian, whereas the DCPU-16 specifications called for little endian. This led to a severe bug in the included drivers, causing a requested sleep of 0x0000 0000 0000 0001 years to last for 0x0001 0000 0000 0000 years.

It's now the year 281 474 976 712 644 AD, and the first lost people are starting to wake up to a universe on the brink of extinction, with all remote galaxies forever lost to red shift, star formation long since ended, and massive black holes dominating the galaxy.
 


Game Features
 

The game is still very early in development, but here is a list of things we hope to include:

• Hard science fiction.
• Lots of engineering.
• Fully working computer system.
• Space battles against the AI or other players.
• Abandoned ships full of loot.
• Duct tape!
• Seamlessly landing on planets.
• Advanced economy system.
• Random encounters.
• Mining, trading, and looting.
• Single and multi player connected via the multiverse.


The Generator and the Computer
 

Each ship has a generator capable of producing a fixed wattage, and everything you connect to it drains wattage. A cloaking field, for example, might require almost all the power from the generator, forcing you to turn off all computers and dim all lights in order to successfully cloak.

The computer in the game is a fully functioning emulated 16 bit CPU that can be used to control your entire ship, or just to play games on while waiting for a large mining operation to finish.

Full specifications of the CPU will be released shortly, so the more programatically advanced of you can get a head start.

This is going to be some sort of a space colonization game with a very immersive economy. Your ship will apparently be customizable and follow a power grid that restricts the ship's capability based on wattage. You will be able to land on planets and perform a variety of actions.

Singleplayer and multiplayer will be connected to a system called the Multiverse which will probably cost a monthly fee in the game's early stages. It is unknown whether or not usage of the Multiverse will be mandatory.

Plad is one of thew few members of this community I honestly can not stand. Ever since Extrude drama'd him he has obsessed over Extrude and made many attempts to get back at him. Notice how it completely stopped at 666.0 MB. I just read that scary anime comic so I'm pretty sure the lady with the cracking neck and stuff is attacking me for closing the window.

If anyone knows the number for the Ghostbusters please tell me.

Off Topic / My Grades for the ACT Came in

I took the ACT a few weeks ago as a freshman (still am one) and my grades came in today. I got a 20 in English, 19 in Math, 20 in Reading, 21 in Science, and 20 in writing. Composite of 20. My parents are telling me this is a really good score, so I'm pretty glad. Do you guys think this is a good score for a high school freshman?

Have any of you taken the ACT? I took it to get into a class to learn Java, hosted by Duke TIP.

Creativity / Mega Bear's LOVE2D Games - Bit Builder, Zen Garden

All of these games are made by me with minor assistance from Extrude or Kingdaro if needed. Appropriate credit is given at the end of the OP.

All games are written in Lua and use LOVE2D as a platform, if that's correct terminology. To run these games, extract the .zip and double click on the .exe!


Bit Builder

Bit Builder is inspired by games such as Minecraft, and is essentially a freebuild version of Terraria, minus all items and many blocks. The blocks featured in the picture are all that come with the game.

Controls:
Left and right arrow keys to switch between blocks. Selected block is shown in the top left (In the screenshot, you can see the crosshair underneath the GUI).
A and D keys to scroll left and right on the map. (Glitchy as FUNK)
Left click to place the selected block, right click to delete a block.

My parents are loveually active with each other and I keep seeing signs of it everywhere oh God. I don't blame them for being loveual with each other, their adults just doing what they want, but HOLY CRAP IT IS SO OBVIOUS. Here are my loving STORIES:

>Mom hands me her iPhone and asks me to text my dad for her because she is driving.
>On the iPhone you can see all previous texts between you and the person your texting on one screen.
>As I begin to type the text, I glance up and see my dad ask my mom for a "juicy."

Maps / Phillpines - Collaboration from Blockland's Masterminds

Collaboration from Blockland's Masterminds. And by that, I mean random people from Aeschylus's server.

Phillpines is a map requested by Phillip. I was on Aeschylus's server when this genius joined and requested the map, and instantly the server's natural masterminds assisted me in my brainstorming. Along came this beautiful map, comprised of interiors from my unreleased/broken maps.

This map is the most psychadelic experience you can have without dying. An otherwise normal pair of islands with pretty ground textures gone wrong; floating shapes and a checkerboard, a crashed spaceship, large pink statues, a lollipop forest, lavender water, a skybox with streaks of pink ... it's crazy, while still giving players a great amount of space to build in.

Normally I would just upload a map to RTB and link it in my map topic, but I feel my more interesting maps should get a little spotlight for themselves.
