Part of me believes a lot of that charm was tied to the player base/user generated content. Both of which seem to have slowed down. Then again, I’m not as active on the forums as I used to be either—so I could most definitely be wrong.

Totally agree with Masterlegodude on the whole procrastination thing. I’ve had a few builds, one even right now that I’ve been procrastinating on and taken a short break from. I typically only build for maybe 40-60 minutes before getting bored and resuming another time, but damn is it nice when you finally finish something.

Woah, when did people start considering Truenos's Colorset to be bad? Years ago that was pretty popular and considered one of the best.

I'd still like to see this game brought over to Torque 3D

How much is a license?

I feel like Torque 3D has been around for a while though, relatively speaking, and we’ve never heard anything about any interest in moving the game over to a new engine. Probably because the version Badspot uses is heavily edited/tailor-made at this point.

Blockland’s versatility and building has always been its’ main draw for me. The vastness of game mode/server possibilities (though dependent on the community/add-on devs) is great, and its’ simple heavily LEGO inspired building and aesthetics are wonderful. When you think about the fact that LEGO themselves were interested in Blockland/Badspot at one point, you know it’s damn good.

No bullstuff terrain blocks and crafting, or gameplay where you have to do x to earn y bricks. It’s primary feature is being a sandbox game on the truest form, and building with virtual LEGO bricks. That’s always been my favorite thing about it, and where all these other building games fail.

I actually think bots and .blb doors are really good and useful updates :(

especially the doors since it makes making interactive bricks loving easy as piss
bots are freaking underrated, they’re so good compared to literally everything before

and doors opened a lot of easy ways to make door bricks and normalized using “prop-like” bricks in builds

Literally this and this. Nobody in here has complained about these, Durka.

I think the next logical step/update would be sideways building. Bricks specialized with studs on the sides, and the ability to rotate the default bricks onto their sides so you can attach them to these "side-studded" bricks.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that.

Sideways building was made possible in RTB 1.x that had the Editor Want that allowed you to move, rotate and scale bricks however you wanted, but that was when Blockland used DTS for bricks, not BLBs, which are faster and easier to render than DTS bricks, but at the cost of no longer being able to modify each and every brick like you used to

But was that really sideways building? I'd say it was more akin to scaling things in a modeling program. With new building rules including the brick I linked, that's more of the sideways building I'm thinking of. Variations of the default bricks could be added, and only be able to be built off of bricks with studs on the sides.

While we're discussing updates, IIRC improved vehicle physics were "planned" after the Shadows and Shaders update. They were one of the possibilities from removing terrains and interiors for some reason. I think. Then it turned out that vehicle physics will always be forgeted since it has something to do with networking syncs or something.

Anyways, was there anything else that was said to be possible after terrains and interiors? I can't think of anything. To be honest, what would the next major update entail? First thing that springs to mind is having these and adding sideways building. But who knows if that is even possible in Torque.

Another thing, when did Badspot stop hosting his Block Party? I wonder if that coincides with the slowdown of updates.
