Protip: they only loosely follow the comic storyline.

No, they're following it. Robert Kirkman said that they changed things up a bit so the people who read the comics have a really good idea on what is going on, but enough of a difference so it's still entertaining to watch and not know what is going to happen every second.

Except there were six prisoners instead of four like in the comics. Two will probably get killed off pretty quickly though.

From reading the comics, watching the season three trailers, and seeing how this season started off - I can tell this show is going to get really dark and grim wicked fast.
