The day and night cycle would still work. Age of Time has a day and night cycle too (older version), but it still looks great with the terrain and interiors. See Age of Time v29 for example, another game by Badspot.
Yeah I've thought about that. Haven't played AoT in forever, but yeah, would be really neat to see both the terrains and daycycle in blockland

Looks nice, but still want day/night cycle. I don't even care about the "shadows" part so much, as I generally keep them disabled, I just really want to keep the day/night cycle. It's nice for RPG servers and stuff

brother and I stumbled upon the game after google searching "games where you build stuff" (ironically, if you're viewing this as a guest it will practically be the games logo)

literally everything. taste in music, what you watch, the things you eat, the things you find visually pleasing. but most importantly mentally. you change how you see other people, how you see yourself. what you look forward to in life, what you look forward to in other people. you change pretty much all around. none of these changes will click instantly but you definitely will just on a random day realize you have changed. your perception on the world will grow and as a result, it changes.

i may not speak for everyone here but as a result of this change (which is caused by your mind literally growing), your sense of child-like wonder kind of vanishes with it. i dont play video games nearly as much as i used to. if i do its 100% of the time a game i already played a long time ago. its like trying to chase that familiar child-like wonder again that you felt as a kid or a teenager because you cant get it naturally anymore. it started happening around your age too. so yeah, expect that to happen :P
Very well said Trog, totally agreed. I used to watch a boatload of anime but now I find myself watching movies and show series more often. Recently I've been going back and re-watching old movies that I used to have on VHS or remembered seeing on TV as a kid because my memory of them a little fuzzy but I remembered it being a good movie. I still like anime it just has to be something good otherwise I won't waste my time. I still enjoy playing video games too but I'm usually always playing them with someone else - if I am playing a game alone it's like u said usually an old game I already beat in the past just appreciating the nostalgia. I remember my pops telling me as I was growing up "son eventually you're whole outlook on life is going to change" and I thought he was full of stuff at the time, but it turns out he was totally right.

I have mellowed out a lot and I don't get mad like I used to about stupid stuff. mostly because being mad about stupid stuff doesn't really help anything. if you're gonna let yourself get mad about stuff it needs to mean something, like healthcare and labor rights. but like getting mad about someone talking stuff about xyz video game is just a waste of energy that you can direct towards things that matter to you (including the simple act of giving love and attention to people you care about which is perhaps the most valuable endeavor of all)
for sure, being angry about meaningless stuff is wasted energy that could otherwise be spent doing something positive

Add-Ons / Re: [Event] Save Datablock
« on: November 17, 2022, 08:24:43 AM »
if(isObject(%client.savedDatablock && $Pref::Server::RestorePlayerDatablocksOnResp awn $= true))

You put the second statement within the isObject check, so it will always return false. Pushing out requests super quick is nice, but you should really test your addon before you go through the effort of uploading and posting it.
I tested v1, but not v2 after adding the global var. I debated even adding it since one could easily just disable the mod if they don't want it, or simply not use the save event. A simple error forgetting a single ) but then I went and put it in the wrong spot, oof! $Pref::Server::RestorePlayerDatablocksOnResp awn is set to true when the script loads, and the player needs a savedDatablock to be able to load anyways so the loading on respawn was still working for me oddly enough. that being said, I have updated the code once again. thanks for the feedback!

my brother and I played this game for a while - it's fun but what pisses me off is there is when your trying to command a certain guy to do something but he wont make up his mind and keeps doing other crap, even modifying his priorities list had no effect. They should take a small page from fallout shelter and allow you to command a person to a room more easily

Add-Ons / Re: [Script] Bot Item Fix
« on: October 29, 2022, 07:17:54 PM »
It has come to my attention that there is a bit of code in the default bot holes events.cs, specifically 'setWeapon' having a problem because of calling getClassName on item data. I'm not sure why this is nessessary, instead it should just be checking if the item has an image. Here is a patch which fixes this issue

DOWNLOAD PATCH

place events.cs in Bot_Hole.zip and overwrite the existing file

Script_BotItemFix

Removes a bots weapon when it dies, and re-applies it onRespawn
fixing bots firing weapons after they die, potentially 'after killing' people

Can be toggled on/off with $Pref::Server::FixBotItemDeath

You could argue that certain boards would potentially benefit from a full wipe, namely the drama and off-topic boards because they typically don't contribute anything useful to the game or community as a whole, with some exceptions.

mostly though I agree with this sentiment:

I doubt anyone is going to argue this place has always been a stuffhole, but that doesn't mean it deserves to be lost to history.
