I don't know quite understand the appeal for music streaming apps. Do people even buy music anymore? I just know that my personal playlist is ad free and i don't need WiFi or data to listen to it lol.

Off Topic / Re: Post Your Desktop/Computer Setup
« on: May 16, 2020, 10:39:36 AM »
I dismantled my desk setup before I moved over a year ago, so I don't see the point in showing a picture of a laptop on a stand. I still kept my audio setup though because I cannot live without it.

I found some old pictures of all my setups over the years, thought it'd be neat to show off here. (i can't find all my pictures sadly because I wanted to show the EXTRA cringey ones. tbh they all are kinda cringe)

First two are my personal workstations

My old recording studio setup

and lastly my latest one before I moved.

I did in fact mount those studio monitors properly after i took the picture of my latest setup. To answer potential questions: Yes I used every single monitor almost constantly. Yes I used most if not all the available channels on my mixer, ran out at times and had to use different ones. The secondary purpose of using a mixer was to have submixes for surround sound for broadcast media and game development.

Off Topic / Re: Why would anyone still use a record player?
« on: May 14, 2020, 04:43:47 AM »
tbh didn't read like 80% of this thread, but the whole idea of preference is odd to me, I have vinyl because that's all of what I had one point in my life, same goes for cassettes. I have music on just about every medium possible, but that's the perk/downside of living in an ever so quickly advancing technological world. I think it's really goofy that people CHOOSE to use the older formats over the newer ones and spend more money doing so for the same exact thing, because as I said, it wasn't really a matter of choice at one point in time. My (potentially unhinged) thought process equates this to a person choosing to light candles for their home over using light bulbs or choosing to use a pager coupled with landline instead of a standard smartphone. There's probably dozens of brown townogies but i'm handicapped so I don't expect anyone to see my point of view lmaooooo

But to reiterate, I'm talking about (for a constant/control) a person that HAS no music player/medium choosing an older format. Obviously for my case and a lot of others, I already spent a decent amount of money on equipment for older formats so I have ZERO need to upgrade anything if all my favorite albums/singles are all found in my collection of miscellaneous formats. Worst comes to worst, I've already converted most if not all of my collection (including rare/one time prints/releases) into a digital lossless format. For me it's honestly easier in a lot of ways to just load up a vinyal/cassette/cd/minidisk from the comfort of my listening area/living room. But when I'm at my desk and I want to listen to music of course it's just as easy to open up JetAudio and listen to my entire library off of my media server on my home network.

Despite my confusion about people wanting to make it harder on themselves to play music with older equipment: music is still music, and it's beautiful how it's evolved in such a way to where you can not only express yourself with the type and genre of music you listen to but even with just the medium you use to play it back on.

One little tiny thing I'd like to see would be that the Tutorial button made its way back to the main menu screen as apposed to being at the bottom of the game mode list. Not that I don't like group teaching new players how to play the game, it just sometimes gets old.

Help / Re: Server Hosting Experience

My mod is outdated and I dont think it ever worked with slayer, I might get some time in the near future to remake it

Thanks for letting me know

All I wanted was a basic map rotation and a minigame with rounds/time limit/score limit. I barely have any addons besides a crap tonne of brick packs, and the map rotator actually worked by itself for no reason and I think and it was the one causing the game to crash. Still the GetType thing is still happening and I believe it's just Slayer.

Literally happened after I made the last post hahaha.

console.log

I added BI0-Hazzard's New Map Rotation, (which for some reason doesn't change the maps I have to do it manually) it crashed after the new build loaded in. 2 players just finished downloading and spawned at the exact same time so I don't know what caused it.

Even after all that with 8 players today, the GetType error is still happening even with Event_Minigame being removed. I'm running Slayer and I would really like to continue doing so.

Not so sure how much posting the console.log would help being that it's the exact same as the past few.

But when the server population dies I'll post it.

Thank you, that was the other trouble addon.

The HL Weapon package sometimes gives an error, not sure why and I can't seem to find it in my log atm, but it's extremely minor.

I totally forgot I cannot edit posts here, so please excuse the double post.

This one is with Slayer disabled.
console.log

Error still persists, and I think I may have concluded that it's Event_Minigame.
I have to wait until another poor soul joins my server to test it once more with that disabled.

As I presumed it's a user error and I should be more weary of what addons I'm currently using; I am absolutely grateful for the assistance.

I re-enabled Slayer because I thought I removed the addon that may have been causing the issue but alas the problem persists but even worse now?? somehow.

console.log

With trace(1); I think the problem may be coming from the Event_Minigame addon conjoined with Slayer. I don't need this addon, i just use it to enable a bunch of events upon the reset, there are alternatives for this.

Currently testing the server with Slayer disabled and Event_Minigame enabled.

then I'll test with Slayer enabled and Event_Minigame disabled so on and so forth.

Help / Server Hosting Experience

Trying to host DM, had 20 players in. Server has unbearable lag due to the console being spammed by errors from all the clients.

base/server/scripts/game.cs (1376): Unable to find object: '#########' attempting to call function 'GetType'
or slight variations to this.

Video.

Log.
console.log

this wasn't the same session that was shown in the video, but it does capture the bare minimum. didn't think over a million lines of errors would've helpped.

The server only began to lag around the 18 player mark, lag would happen every time a player would connect/spawn/respawn/join mini game/leave mini game/disconnect.

I thought it was slayer trying to reset vehicles every time a player would do anything, but my expertise is limited on trying to comprehend this. Trying to not get upset over this cuz I lost a lot of people during the lag sessions, and the goal was to have a fun and simple server but if I can't even get a simple deathmatch to work properly why should I even bother lol.

Any help or guidance is appreciated, feel free to roast me if it's something absurdly simple and or a well known fact, I just wanna play my game in peace and it seems I'm always fighting instability and errors every time I play.

General Discussion / Re: official aim down sight hate thread
« on: May 06, 2020, 03:00:21 AM »
blockland among other games that came out before it, were originally designed with 4:3 aspect ratio monitors primarily in mind. The FOV doesn't scale when you change the aspect ratio when it should. Most older games suffer from this problem, but luckily due to old age most of these are easily patchable.

I play with 105-112 FOV depends on the game, some games try to do some basic math to accommodate for the aspect ratio change but most attempts are garbage and awful, so an actual console command does wonders.

If I play at any FOV less than 100 I don't feel comfortable and I get slightly sick depending on the game. But then again the numbers are quite literally arbitrary and mean different things depending on what game you play

An unusual fix for me is just increasing the view model FOV not the actual FOV, for some reason that seems to do the trick.

maybe a chance for this to finally see the light of day once more, would be sweet because I'd love to use SteamCMD for Blockland on my server.
