General Discussion / Re: BlockNet Dedicated Hosting

Why do all your servers have extreme ghosting issues?
Explain. I haven't experienced this at all on Boss Battles, which I host using one of the shared nodes.

So basically, if you chose something that was an extreme on the ph scale, you're screwed no matter what. You chose a strong acid, it becomes a strong base that forgets you up worse than an acid would've.
If you chose water... since water is 'neutral' on the ph scale, it technically would remain unchanged with these rules? I feel like this thread was trying to make mundane things into hazards and vice versa, but all it really did was change your saliva into something that's about as dangerous as what you chose.

OP needs a refresher on basic chemistry.

Suggestions & Requests / Re: Bot Stealth system
« on: February 07, 2015, 02:49:14 PM »
The default bots already have a setFov event, which you can set really low to make it possible to sneak around them easily. What we don't have is a specific input event for when a bot notices you.

Off Topic / Re: What do you think is the best country to live in?

I think I'd like living in Japan. The main two problems would be language (my ability to learn a second language has so far been seen as pretty weak), and the fact that real estate is really hard to own because it's so much more expensive than in pretty much any other place.

That is the most beautiful laptop internal design I've ever seen.

You've risen out of the ocean. Does that mean someone finally brought you 15 cubic meters of sand?

Mini update: Sky Captain's homing rocket now fires one larger rocket instead of three small ones. Rockets no longer attempt to home in on turrets. The rockets will only home in on you if they can 'see' you.

Drama / Re: someone on my server got a authentication failure

Additionally, they would have to have authenticated successfully to begin with in order to have connected initially. The auth failure could have happened for any a number of uncommon yet relatively reasonable reasons. And piracy isn't likely one of them.

not at all
in many cases the only replaceable components in a laptop are the ram in the hard drive, both of which are smaller than the "normal" counterparts
Correct; only the RAM, hard drive, and sometimes the wlan card are of a standard form factor. Everything else is usually custom-designed to fit in it. This lack of standardization for everything makes it impossible to really 'build' a laptop. The closest you might get to building one is finding a gutted chaise at a thrift shop or something and just replacing the big components to make it work.

If I'm stuffing 8 hard drives into a case, I would buy a case with more suitable airflow options for the drives such as larger in take fans situated on the front to cast air over the drives to dissipate heat.

I have an earlier version of this case and it does exactly this. Also space for up to 9 3.5" drives.
...I also paid a lot less for the earlier version one. You might need to look around if you want a non-ridiculous price.
