It's working, but it's not appearing in my prefs. What do? I'd like to change the message delays and stuffs.
These are not RTB prefs. You can change the delay using $pref::server::announcementDelay.

As for the reapeating messages, it's probably because of something I didn't think of with the ability to start/stop the announcements. Do /stopannouncements, wait two minutes, then start them again. I'll probably release an update that addresses this.

Yeah, tattoos are a lot less damaging to your body. You should really reconsider the method you're trying to go about this.

If you get abilities/armor while you have membership, will they be lost/unequipped/unable to be used when it expires?
You don't lose anything when your membership expires, you just aren't allowed to use any of the members-only content on free worlds.

Add-Ons / In-Server announcement rotator
« on: February 02, 2015, 04:53:58 PM »
As per request, I have released this mod which allows you to make reoccurring announcements like the ones you see in many servers. All announcements are handled through prefs and will therefore remain persistent between server restarts.

Commands:
/addAnnouncement <words> (You can use markups like the <color> and <font> tags here)
/startAnnouncements
/stopAnnouncements
/clearAnnouncements (Super-Admin only)

If announcements were enabled when the server shut down, they will still be enabled when you start the server again (assuming your prefs saved).

General Discussion / Re: Is there a perfect chat announcement addon?

I couldn't think of one so I just whipped one up.

Untested, but I'll leave it here for a bit of peer checking and then I might release it packaged later.

if(!$pref::server::announcementDelay)
   $pref::server::announcementDelay = 120000; //Default: 2 minutes

function servercmdAddAnnouncement(%client, %word0, %word1, %word2, %word3, %word4, %word5, %word6, %word7, %word8, %word9, %word10, %word11, %word12, %word13, %word14, %word15)
{
   if(!%client.isAdmin)
      return;

   for(%i = 0; %i<=16; %i++)
   {
      %message = %message SPC %word[%i];
   }

   %message = trim(%message);
   %message = strReplace(%message, "_", " ");

   $pref::server::announcementCount++;
   $pref::server::announcement[$pref::server::announcementCount] = %message;

   %client.chatMessage("Added announcement.");

   if(!$announcementLoopRunning)
   {
      $announcementLoopRunning = true;
      announcementLoop(1);
   }
}

function servercmdStopAnnouncements(%client)
{
   if(!%client.isAdmin)
      return;

   $announcementLoopRunning = false;

   %client.chatMessage("Announcements stopped.");
}

function announcementLoop(%current)
{
   if(!$announcementLoopRunning)
      return;

   announce($pref::server::announcement[%current]);

   if(%current + 1 > $pref::server::announcementCount)
      schedule($pref::server::announcementDelay, announcementLoop, 1);
   else
      schedule($pref::server::announcementDelay, announcementLoop, %current + 1);
}

I should probably make a command to remove announcements too.

I wouldn't post pictures of your daughter anywhere for that matter, it's not safe for her nor you.
You should tell that to the 864 million facebook users.

Seriously though, you're kinda right but most people just don't buy it. As long as your real life identity and location isn't publicly revealed then you shouldn't have much to worry about. People like me and you who care about hiding our identity are probably overreacting. It's okay though, we don't like our personal information being public and that is okay. But for a lot of people, they don't care and the only real threat to most of them are the advertisers; whom they probably deal with on a minutely basis already anyways. There are much better areas to push caution to people who don't know, such as common sense to use when doing online purchases with sensitive billing information.

And a .us
Actually, only US citizens are permitted to own .us domains.
So no, not everyone can get those.

I'm fairly certain you're confusing someone trying to humor themselves with someone trying to gloat. It seems like it's humor 99% of the time.

wait
literally all of the server's preferences? this mod is literally destructive in nature?
Yep, he's using the export() function to write to the server/prefs.cs file. He doesn't seem to understand that it overwrites all the other data in the file, and could potentially make a server lose all it's preferences if the normal prefs export isn't triggered before the server shuts down.

Help / Re: blockland recognizes my processor as pentium 3?
« on: January 27, 2015, 01:38:17 AM »
The Pentium III was the newest thing the engine was programmed to recognize when it was made, back in 90's. Would probably have been better if it queried the processor name from the operating system.
