Off Topic / Just found out my grandma is dying..
« on: July 22, 2015, 05:42:34 PM »
I just recently got word that my grandma is dying, doesn't help that the first hospital she went to initially had released her saying she was fine. They knew she wasn't and then two days later my grandma had a stroke and a heart attack at once. She is now in a good hospital but they say her chances may as well be none. When she went in the first time it was because of a heart attack and because she had gotten pneumonia.

I am beyond pissed at the first hospital for doing that, personally I'd sue them to hell and back.

Title says it, I'm lost as to what to do now. I know that there is the option to go back to school but I'm not the schooling type, I could get a job but the situation here prevents it. (My grandpa who had a stroke needs someone capable of taking care of him here with him a lot of the time.) Aside from that my back is messed up so it limits me to what I can and cannot do for work.

Ideas? I mainly just do side jobs and sit on my ass as of now.

Off Topic / Yesterday was awful
« on: June 30, 2015, 08:25:06 AM »
On Sunday I had helped with jacking up a trailer to put the axles and wheels on it, we had to have the trailer ready to move by the end of this week so we had no time to lose. It took 9 hours to do so because bricks kept breaking, we had to constantly resupport the jacks, and the home supports had to be moved or else the entire home will slide straight off its foundation.

Yesterday I really felt the soreness from it, especially in my back. I was hardly able to walk, however I had to be at the hospital to show the nurses that I'd be capable of helping take care of my grandpa (the one who had a stroke, he's doing fine but has a few issues) during the training I got extremely sick, I had to quickly sit down. The nurses said my blood pressure dropped too low from where I was working too hard without eating and from taking my pain killers without food. After all that the sickness randomly picked back up at home making for a very un-fun night. Luckily I'm no longer sick and am able to move decently again.
Sorry if this is choppy-typed, its very early

Off Topic / Own java code not compatible with my Windows?
« on: June 09, 2015, 06:56:24 PM »
I wrote a super simple calculator using Java, however when I go to run it I get an error saying its not compatible with my version of Windows. I use Windows 7 64bit, I sent the same code to someone else who uses Windows 7 64bit. He had no problem.

Any ideas?

Note: I'm using NetBeans to compile

Sorry if this doesn't belong here, I'm not sure as to if this section is limited to Blockland only coding.

Off Topic / Extremely nervous [He pulled through, check op]
« on: June 08, 2015, 12:05:13 PM »
Not sure what else to title this topic, I'm just really worried right now. Today while I was asleep it turns out that my grandpa had a heart attack and collapsed, he was taken to the hospital today. He usually pulls through without any issue but I'm not too sure about this one. If he goes we'll be in a lot of trouble, this home won't be able to sustain itself and we'll likely lose it unless everyone gets a job and pitches in.
Turns out he had a stroke but he pulled through and is going to be fine.

Off Topic / I have successfully passed all of my senior classes
« on: June 01, 2015, 04:01:21 PM »
Title says it all, I'm pretty happy that I succeeded in what I thought wouldn't be possible for me to accomplish this year. When I checked my grades this morning I noticed that there were many grades popping up, once it all ended I found I have passed. I will be a high school graduate! It only took 13 years to get here (thanks 3rd grade!)
So yeah, pretty excited that I'll be getting  my diploma.

Off Topic / Was finally able to give blood c:
« on: May 01, 2015, 03:05:00 PM »
On Wednesday the Red Cross came back to my tech school. I wasn't aware of it until a friend of mine asked me to go with him because he wanted to donate but was afraid of needles. Last time I tried to donate a good vein was impossible to find. I went with him to keep him company and to give it another shot. Luckily they were able to find one this time and I was able to give. Its nice knowing that it'll eventually help someone who needs it.
I waited a couple days to share this accomplishment because I was a bit light headed after donating, was a lot of fun walking around lol.

Off Topic / Creating a Garry's Mod map, ideas wanted.
« on: April 04, 2015, 02:05:50 AM »
Title states it clearly, I am currently creating a Garry's Mod map. The theme of it is an underground facility, however, I am fresh out of ideas on what to put in it.
I have a lobby/lunch room area, I have a bunks area, and the entrance place you spawn.

If you have any ideas please do tell, I'm out of ideas.

Off Topic / Extreme storms/weather
« on: April 03, 2015, 05:52:18 AM »
April is here, the month of extreme weather! Storms and tornadoes for everyone!

Now lets discuss local weather.
Its storming really bad here, raining hard, thundering louder than a gunshot. I was woken up a couple of times by the thunder myself. School was closed as well due to flooding, roads have been closed and everything. Counties around me went on delay, I guess they think the water is just going to pack up and leave?
On the bright side we seen this coming and put a tarp onto the roof to cover up the leaks we have, so thats not a problem.

Off Topic / What a cruel world, lost another family member.
« on: March 27, 2015, 03:13:19 PM »
I just recently got news that one of my cousins had passed away this morning. I last seen him while at a lake, it was some good times there. This has hit me ridiculously hard for it to just suddenly happen. I'm not asking for sympathy or anything, I just wanted to share.
I'm more pissed than sad, no one even told us about it. Today someone in my family messaged me asking where his funeral was held. It seems everyone else knew but didn't inform us..

So, discuss this sort of stuff I do suppose.

Off Topic / Just tried out Oculus Rift
« on: March 10, 2015, 11:23:32 PM »
And I'm here to write a little review.

Backstory: my sister bought it and had me install it while she was at work. And so I did.
It took two and a half hours just to get it to install correctly due to the fact that the book was awfully vague with instructions. It was a very stressful experience, now that may just have been because I was using it on my sisters laptop. Her laptop isn't the best.

Once I got it all hooked up (after about 6+ guides and reading the book) I managed to get a game working. I played around with it and once I  got settled in I learned that it was actually pretty neat, on more than one occasion I tried to reach out to grab stuff because of its depth. Regardless the unrealistic graphics in the demos it can trick your brain.

The headset itself was surprisingly light for what it was, it required pretty much no adjustment for me.

And that is my review, Q&A anyone?

Off Topic / Nightmares and night sweats.
« on: March 09, 2015, 04:24:37 AM »
This topic just crossed my mind because it somehow was brought up. When I was a lot younger I would wake up every night, often by someone waking me up because of me screaming in my sleep. I'd be absolutely soaking in sweat to the point I had to get a towel, change my clothes, blankets, etc, before returning to bed just to relive what I experienced the moment before.

Its been at least 12 years since then, but it still frightens me from time to time.
Sorry, I had to vent a little. I still don't know why the hell it happened.

So like, discuss this sort of stuff.
