AMD FX 6300 Hexa-core 3.1GHz
AMD Radeon R9 200 Series 2GB GDDR5
1000W PSU
can't exactly remember what my motherboard is, but it's also AMD.

I custom built this computer last year in August

Next time the computer restarts (I think windows 8 has this) go to Event Viewer, Windows Logs, System. Look for anything with a red ! or a yellow caution thingy. If that event took place at the time of the restart then chances are thats what did it.

1000w seems kind of overkill, doesn't it? i could be wrong, and probably am, but it might have something to do with distribution of power.

I doubt this, if it was a problem then it wouldn't have waited this long. I had a 650W for my PC at one time and it caused no problem, and that way a bit of an overkill because my PC only requires about 340.
