General Discussion / Have you ever used Blockland for a school project?
« on: August 29, 2017, 07:24:47 AM »
I've heard that a few people did years ago, but I'm curious how many

I've thought of using it for a school project about ww2 4 years ago but instead my team wanted to use real footage of the war and pictures for examples, so I never really had the chance on my school years.

Off Topic / Did you ever deal with long distance relationships?
« on: August 21, 2017, 09:04:41 AM »
So here's a little story to explain why I created this topic, on the last christmas, we went to my uncle's house, our family was there, and I've met a girl at that day, we've started talking almost everyday on the phone since then, about all sorts of subjects, and recently we've been having to create feelings for each other, but here's the thing, we have a considerable distance between each other (we live in the same state so it's not THAT bad), so it won't be possible to meet her frequently, but I know her parents and she told me that they liked me and they're ok with us going out, if everything goes well I'm sure that there will be more possibilities for us to see each other, and next month we're planning to set a date at september 7th.

But I've created this topic to see if any of you had an experience of a long distance relationship, and how do/did you deal with that.

General Discussion / What if Blockland had TV Commercials? - Video Idea
« on: August 17, 2017, 11:41:05 AM »
I've got an idea lately where it's about what if there were TV Commercials in the Blockland Universe? Ads about Blockland related content, I made this topic to see if you guys got some fun ideas I can implement.

For example there could be a funny commercial about the destructo wand and the things you can do with it.

Off Topic / Blender or 3DS Max? - Added poll
« on: August 14, 2017, 08:12:29 AM »
I want to take a step further in 3D modelling to the point where I could take it as a proper job, I was wondering if any of these two programs could do me well, Blender is free and lighter than 3DS Max, but 3DS can also produce incredibly professional (and even cinema quality) content but I believe it requires a lot more storage and processing power.

In my case I want to start making models for my own games in higher quality and reduce my workload with better and modern tools, and if it goes well open up my own studio and team up with other developers, I admit that I had used milkshape 3D this entire time and it's time to move on.

Suggestions & Requests / Vehicle Customization Support 2 - Bump
« on: August 02, 2017, 08:26:19 AM »
I made this topic back in january, but I wanted to bring it back in the hopes of making it a possibility.

Ever since the original CVS mod got released, it had several suggestions to give it more features in updates, but sadly it's script is messy, and hard to edit out and give it more things, my plan is to start from scratch, and make a successor to this mod that has more features, a better UI, and more, the features I have in mind are:

- Save presets, just like the avatar customization GUI with it's line of presets on the top that you can save and load, same thing could be done for vehicles, there could be a client sided file that saves the presets for each individual car, so let's say you save several presets for a sports car, only that car will have them, you won't be able to load those presets on other vehicles, unless you make presets for the other cars.

- Better UI, better color selection and sliders, better and bigger icons, and maybe a 3D view of the car model.

- Save a custom preset for the car on it's spawn brick, the mod could provide the player a event command, that could work like this.
OnVehicleCustom > Vehicle > LoadPreset, by clicking load preset, it could open the CVS GUI, then you can customize the car, and it will be saved there, so the car will always spawn with the same preset, even when you save and load the build later, not sure if it could be done, but it would be awesome.

- Sub selections, you know how when you're customizing your player, once you give it a hat, it unlocks the accessory box so you can add plumes or visors right? How about do something similar for vehicles? Let's say you give a car a rally front bumper, once that is selected, it unlocks the foglights option, so you can add in some rally foglights that only works with that bumper, it can't be added in without it.

- Performance Changes, this one is more complicated and it might bring invalid packet issues, but I want to share this anyway, let's say you change the hood with one that has a bigger V8 engine that pokes out in the middle, it could boost the top speed and acceleration stats of the car

- Wheels, in the beta of the original CVS, players could be able to change the wheels of their cars, but it was scrapped since the way it was scripted, you could see cars with invisible wheels, and giving most players a lot of invalid packet issues forcing them to leave the server, but I do wish if there was a clean and properly working way to bring this feature back, so we could add wheels with different attributes for the car, better grip better drifting.

- A Version with unlockables or prices, a cool idea that was requested before, is to allow hosts to enable a pricing system for the CVS menu, players do races or jobs, get money, and they can buy parts for their cars, each part could have it's respective price, the prices could the chosen by the host.

- Be able to toggle the CVS mod via event, like that event I suggested earlier, there could be another one that prevents other players from changing the visual of the car by toggling it on or off, when it's off, the CVS GUI won't pop up once you aim at it and type the /garage command

Any more ideas feel free to share and if you're skilled enough as a coder and you're interested to make this happen, contact me.

Add-Ons / [Hatmod] Crash Bandicoot
« on: July 11, 2017, 02:39:01 PM »
woah!

Download

You need the Server_HatMod add-on to work, type /Hat Crash to use it.

I originally wanted this to be a playertype that can do some of his moves from the PS1 games, let me know if you're interested to make this happen, someone who is talented with playertypes.

Suggestions & Requests / A Better Engine Sounds Support
« on: July 04, 2017, 01:36:32 PM »
I know it's possible to change te pitch of the engine sound but there is no proper support add-on that could give supported cara the feature of engine sound that could actually work (I know one but the guy who created it sadly lost interest to make it work for public use, I won't tell who it is though) the script could somehow detect which sound files the vehicle are using

General Discussion / Add-Ons for a Community made Update
« on: June 22, 2017, 08:57:48 AM »
Often times on older games that still has a community, the modders often works on community made updates for the game to keep it more up to date and improve it's experience, improving the graphics, fixing bugs that the developers didn't do, add new content, I've seen that happening quite a lot, and since we all know that Blockland won't receive another update by it's developers, I thought of a fun idea that we could do.

The very first Blockland Community Update, it could work like this, it's a pack of content that improves the game, add-ons that are very useful (duplicator, better brick tool, delete launcher, fill can and others), save files that contains big maps and fun places to play, new gamemodes and other types of content, everything packaged into one ZIP File so the players can extract into their game to receive the content that the older players in the community recommends to use, this can help the new players, and it could help them to host more servers with the save files and the content available.

So I thought that we could make a list of content that should be in this ZIP File, it could have it's folders for each type of content (Add-On, Saves, others) so please suggest any add-on that is a must have for any player and I'll add it in the list:
- Duplicator
- Fill Can
- New Brick Tool
- Water FX
- Keybinded Console
- Several most used Colorsets (Trueno's, Squideey', suggest more if you know)
- Drop Down Search
- Auto-Jet
- Macro Saver
- Tab-Shifting Brick Selector
- Auto-Wrench
- Quick Save
- Save Saver
- Events GUI Plus

And here are some ideas we could add it in:

New Gamemodes, by having more gamemodes available it can help giving the server list more variety and fun.
- A new Tutorial Gamemode, with more content and more things to learn
- Team Deathmatch with a map changing system similar to SpeedKart, it could be great for a Pick-up-and-play action for players to host
- Hide and Seek
- Challenge Map
- Push Broom Sumo

General Discussion / Blockland is NOT dead
« on: June 21, 2017, 07:52:52 AM »
Usually when I join a server, or watch a Blockland Youtube Video, I always get to see some comments saying "Blockland is dead" But to be fair, is it really? I've been thinking about this lately, sure, it might not be as active as it was a few years ago, but we still have an active community, and there are servers being hosted and people playing, I just don't understand that we get that comment a lot, sure, maybe it's done development wise or that the developers don't want to work on it anymore, but the thing is, Blockland is a Community Powered game, the content the game receives and the player base it has it's because of the Add-Ons and the content the players created, if we coudn't have that modding system then yes this game would had been abandoned years ago (to be considered "dead", then the server list would be completely empty).

It's just like Garry's Mod, the reason people still play it to this date is because of the creative and talented side of the community that always creates new mods for the Workshop, if it wasn't for that the game would be abandonware after one or two years of existance, anyway I know that this subject has been brought for discussison so many times, but I don't see this game dying anytime soon, it has been always like this, raising and lowering the ammount of active members depending on the time of the year, if this game was officially dead, Badspot would've announced that.

The problem that this game is having right now, is the lack of a fun variety of servers to play with, if we could gather some talented people to host dedicated servers that are fun to play, each being a distinctive type of server (TDM, Challenge, Hide and Seek, Racing, and so on) then it could attract more players to join, and we will be more enthusiastic to open up the server list and see all those fun servers to play, also, if we announce a big project for Blockland, and advertise it on youtube and on steam with friends, we can totally get more active players in it, let's say we announce a big server project, we will gather people interested to play in it again.

Also the Blockland Forums is incredibly active, there are always a good ammount of people online, sure some of them don't play the game anymore, but the big majority still do.

I've watched Ed, Edd n' Eddy quite a lot when I was younger, and I recently remembered about the show and I thought that, since every gadget and invention they make is made out of homemade objects, I thought about a TDM gamemode, where the theme is basicly this, a suburban area where the players are battleling to see which team is the most powerful in the neighborhood, the weapons are all made out of homemade objects, the armors they can wear also can be homemade, for example with cardboards, cooking pans, kitchen or construction items, I had that idea a few days ago but I thought it would be interesting to share.

Games / The Crew 2 Revealed! - Now with Planes and Boats
« on: June 12, 2017, 05:10:29 PM »

Ubisoft announced the sequel to The Crew yesterday at E3, instead of being a story about a man planning revenge towards his brother's death, you're now a racer trying to be the best on all sorts of motorsports (Possibly allowing you to customize your character this time, it makes a lot more sense than everyone online being the same character), you can get to drive cars, motorbikes, planes and boats this time, and it looks a lot better graphically and a lot more fun compared to the first game!
