Off Topic / I need your help for writing for my school newspaper.

So I'm rewiewing the game Blockland for my school newspaper. I figured that it would be cool to have actual people who play it to give their opinions on it.

So can you just rate the game x/10 and/or give some opinions of the game. I won't choose everyone though.

Also, when it's published in April (yes we do it a month earlier) I'll post in this topic/make a new one later.

I'm writing it possibly tomorrow or Monday

Off Topic / The NHL Really Needs to Relocate Some Teams

Honestly, this is nonsense. Look at how many southern teams there are. Out of 30 NHL teams, only 7 are from Canada, and 6 of the 30 are down south.
Now, I've got nothing against Southern USA or any fans of the teams, but hockey does not belong in the south. I have narrowed down 11 teams that play in what I consider the South

Carolina Hurricanes
Nashville Predators
St Louis Blues
Colorado Avalanche
Florida Panthers
Tampa Bay Lightning
Dallas Stars
San Jose Sharks
Los Angeles Kings
Anaheim Ducks
Phoenix Coyotes

Now here's my opinion on the teams

Carolina
They're not a bad of a team. But have they shown that recently? They have been relocated from Hartford, and since then, they made two finals appearences. They won in 2006, but what about recently? Lost 4-0 in the playoffs to the Penguins in 2009. Have they shown that they are a good team?

Nashville
In my opinion, not that bad of a team. But how much have they given us? Since 1998, only 6 playoff appearences, but 2 of them extended beyond the 2nd round. What has this given us?

St. Louis
A really old team. They were founded in 1967, but yet no Stanley Cups, nor conference championships (which started in 1994). Do you think they'll be a good team in the next few years?

Colorado
Team moved from Quebec in 1995. That was the year that Joe Sakic and the Avalanche went on to a Stanley Cup. They made it again in 2001 against the Devils. Recently though, they haven't looked too good. In the past 5 years they averaged 11th in the Western Conference. Not that good...

Florida and Tampa
Both from Florida. Not a hockey state. Lightning only had one chance at the cup and took it home. Florida lost their chance against the Avalanche in '95. But are these teams good NHL teams?

Dallas
This is in Texas. Also not a hockey state. Sure you've got Modano and Hull who played there. They had 2 cup appearences since they came from Minnesota (a hockey state). One of them was won against Buffalo, but they lost a year later to New Jersey. Do you think it's a good team to play in the NHL?

San Jose and Anaheim
Both good teams. This season so far was good for the Ducks. San Jose had a nice start. But both teams need to play better. Ducks won the cup in '07. San Jose never won it since they started in 1991. Both need to step it up a notch

Los Angeles
Last year's Stanley Cup champs! But what if last year never happened? Only 2 cup appearences since the '60s? Damn! They lost against Montreal in '93 and beat the Devils last year. But is this team still good without the bandwagoners?

Phoenix
Not. A. Hockey. City. Why was Winnipeg moved in the first place? No offence to all the Coyote fans out there. If I were the league owner, I would probably try to move them somewhere else. Rumors are floating that they are leaving to Quebec soon. But is that true? Do they need to step up their game?

What is Skype?

Skype was first released in 2003 written by Estonian developers Ahti Heinla, Priit Kasesalu, and Jaan Tallinn, who had also originally developed Kazaa. It developed into a platform with over 600 million users and was bought by Microsoft in 2011 for $8.5 billion.

The service allows users to communicate with peers by voice using a microphone, video by using a webcam, and instant messaging over the Internet. Phone calls may be placed to recipients on the traditional telephone networks. Calls to other users within the Skype service are free of charge, while calls to landline telephones and mobile phones are charged via a debit-based user account system. Skype has also become popular for its additional features, including file transfer, and videoconferencing. Competitors include SIP and H.323-based services, such as Linphone and Google Voice.

Skype has 663 million registered users as of EOY 2010. The network is operated by Microsoft, which has its Skype division headquarters in Luxembourg. Most of the development team and 44% of the overall employees of the division are situated in Tallinn and Tartu, Estonia.

Unlike most other VoIP services, Skype is a hybrid peer-to-peer and client–server system. It makes use of background processing on computers running Skype software. Skype's original proposed name (Sky Peer-to-Peer) reflects this fact.

Some network administrators have banned Skype on corporate, government, home, and education networks, citing reasons such as inappropriate usage of resources, excessive bandwidth usage, and security concerns.

On January 9, 2013, Microsoft revealed that it intends to sunset Windows Live Messenger in favor of its Skype service, although Messenger will continue in mainland China. Microsoft will begin the transition for all users from April 8, 2013.


Where Can I Get Skype?

Skype is free and can be downloaded here. If you want to have group video calls and screen sharing, plus more bonus features, you can purchase it for $5

Is It a Virus?

The only way I can describe Skype is with "it's a virus". I would never install this on my computer - not to talk to some other Skype user either.

It is proprietary software, is non free, is run by an autocompetitive and closed company, attempts to read BIOS settings, specifically attempts to prevent reverse engineering, has an incomplete and untrustworthy uninstall procedure, tries to make you pay Microsoft (they don't deserve it!), has no evidence against containing spying mechanisms, discriminates regionally and much more.

No it is not a virus. I had it for 5 years, never had a virus because of Skype.

Off Topic / Any Good Screen Recorders Out There?

I really want to record some good Minecraft/Blockland/Terraria/etc. videos for my YouTube. but I need a screen recorder to do that!

Things I tried
Hypercam- No. It's terrible! The audio quality is horrible, and it lags behind the video. Just no.

Bandicam- It leaves a big mark on the top. Also has a large black outline. Not to mention it doesn't record audio, and when I record audio on my audio recording thing, you can't hear it.

Camtasia- It's only for 30 days, and it won't save to my computer.

CamStudio- Won't open at all

Any good free/cheap ones out there?

People are so handicapped sometimes. Here's what happened after class today:
I'm just walking from my geography class when I see two people arguing. The argument? One of them was saying that Earth is not in outer space. Seriously, how dumb are people? My brother, who's 5 years old, is smarter that that 7th grader. Her defence? That if we were in space, we wouldn't be able to breathe. Someone told her about the athmosphere, she didn't know what it was. My god people are dumb as hell

February 18, 2013, the day I turn 13 years old at 11:57 EST.

I went to a Devils vs Senators game, 3rd row seats. Got to witness the shootout, even though Devils lost :(
I got $150 which I'm saving for the Summer when I go to Canada and Washington D.C.
I also got books and money on iTunes
