all i can say is

forget PYROS

they make being scout so hard :(
If you get killed by pyros so often, then scout isn't really your best class.
I find them easy to beat. It's the damn combat medics with their HIV/STD/AIDS/MRSA-pumping, carrot-shaped, 3-hp-healing syringes.

but then i am raped by scouts who are too far away :(
Flaregun/detonater is your very best friend.
Until you meet a transgender manlady in an NCBR(?) suit.

I would rip my guts out, deep fry them and eat them before that will happen.
Start with the snake.
I heard it tastes like pork.

Seeing the actor's buttocks breathing gave me a very strange boner.

Looks good, nice to see some people taking their knowledge to higher levels.
If I wasn't such a lazy bastard and had more experience in engines/SDKs, I'd offer to help with some coding (preferably in sepples c:) or game design.

How is the game going to be? Open-world with an alignment system would seem to fit, but I'm sure you'd rather not 'inspire' some portions of your game by other games.
Pardon if this was mentioned somewhere in the OP. I didn't really read the story either 'cause it seemed like more of a description of the first level, not actually the story.

Will there be destructible objects? Nothing too major, but at least Half-Life level.

I have 181 dwarves in my fort, and I cannot keep up the food production. What is the best way to execute specific useless dwaves?

You could do the bridge thing, pull a lever, or if you're patient put them in a military squad and never take them off duty.
Pretty sure they'll starve to death, unless that was fixed/I was really low on food.

First person for pretty much everything.
Allows for better immersion and is generally the better perspective.

Off Topic / Re: So what's this python thing?
« on: February 17, 2012, 02:38:03 PM »
Python's really only good as an introductory language, and you need to download or import an absurd amount of libraries to really do anything with it. It's also slow. Really slow.
After you get done with python, sepples your way to freedom.

Okay, sounds good.
So can I get it to work for mac?
Do I get an eclipse plugin or something?
You can either use Notepad++ or IDLE.
IDLE comes with the recent python installations, and it features a highlighted code editor and a way to launch the interpreter to test your code.

I don't use Eclipse so I don't know.

check it yourself, you lazy prick  :cookieMonster:
please don't be a hipster; get the 3.X versions.

I dislike how many people are doubting this game actually being made.
You:
  • don't have a license to Torque 3D, and yet have set up a site, bulletin board and development threads on something that as far as I know isn't even started yet
  • are building multiple, not just one, multiple 2D MMORPGs until you own T3D* with the belief that it will provide you with the skills needed to create MMORPGs, when in reality, since they're likely just toys and won't be truly, actively developed, will provide you with little to no knowledge on creating and maintaining MMORPGs.

  • [you are] holding a fundraiser on an internet lego forum.

  • are claiming that a few puzzle games deems you[r team] capable of building a 3D MMORPG, potentially ground up
  • are likely to be, if not mostly, 15-to-22 y.o. teens that arrogantly think they can build a WoW-killer full-scale MMORPG and keep it or the passion for it alive

  • are more likely than not, unpassionate about this project and it will be dropped/scrapped some time in the future
  • likely don't have the funding to potentially keep your staff interested, or to show the public that you're serious by investing an actual sum of money (not just by purchasing a license to an outdated engine), or push your creation into the market
  • have chosen an absolutely stuff engine for the job, imo

  • don't have proper designers to create a quality website or forum(notably one that won't rape your eyes/mind to stuff), or proper artists(to my knowledge) to excerpt details into a visual representation(ie concept art, designing logos/other details)
  • are underestimating the enormity of creating a 3D MMORPG
  • your forum seems to require registration before viewing it. Honestly, any forum that keeps the public from checking out the community and/or moderation and overall intelligence is more likely to drive people away.

So you can see why we're so doubtful.
But I'm sure, once we see a working demo, it'll change our views all around.

Benefit of the doubt, I guess.

*evidence:
[...] see that we are making small 2D MMORPGs

[...] making 2D GAMES. While raising money for TORQUE 3D. By the time TORQUE 3D is able to be bought by Chao, then we can CREATE a 3D MMORPG, and we will have experience in CREATING MMORPGs [...]

True gentlemen drink Bourbon, you silly fool.

Thinking of trying the game. A big fan of space themes, and partly star-trek so it's overall appealing.
How's the PvP?

And in the process, we can toss out portions of grammar, too.
After all, capitalized letters are far larger than their lowercase variants.

No I was not.

And by the way, here is some content for you guys: Chao has created 2 puzzle games and wants you to check them out to prove that he can make game. They are located at chaoproductions.net.
A pair of simple, 2500/15000-line puzzle games show no capability of being able to create a large-scale MMORPG.
Much less a 3D one.

People who make MMORPGs are in their 30s, have went to college and universities, majored in multiple fields, have quite a bit of money to back them up, and have an actual, functional team dedicated to specific portions of the project.

You can't just "poof", and create a game like this, not even an engine for it.

You need time-tested material and decades' worth of experience.
