Actually it's more like this:

A clip is a device that is used to hold ammunition together in one place for easier retrieval and loading. Although there are different types of clips. For a stripper clip (As pictured) you have to load the ammo into the magazine of the gun by sliding it off the stripper clip. whereas for a en-bloc (M1 garand) clip you insert the whole clip into the magazine, and for replacement it is ejected.
A magazine is the portion of a fire arm that hold the ammunition for loading, And is sometimes replaceable instead of requiring manual loading though the chamber (or a similar slot)
