"The Senate may still have a reputation as a genteel club, but lawmakers seemed to abandon rules of decorum completely last week in arguments about whether Congress should be treated like the rest of the country when it comes to Obamacare.

Senator David Vitter, a Louisiana Republican, has demanded a floor vote on his bill to end an exemption that members of Congress and their staffs are slated to get that will make them the only participants in the new Obamacare exchanges to receive generous subsidies from their employer to pay for their health insurance"

It isn't stating anything about making individual democrats exempt, you god damned tool.  It's saying congress as a whole.  Which is actually refuted in the comments section with a great argument stating actual text from the bill in discussion.

"OH GOD OBAMA DID SOMETHING THAT I WANT TO BELIEVE IS FOR THE DEMOCRATS ONLY SO I'LL JUST SAY IT IS"

Furthermore, you can't state something like "the GOP's actions are based on [...] them being funded by lobbyists who come primarily from insurance companies, who will lose money if Obamacare passes" as fact. You simply can't do it. You are not the GOP, you can speculate on their motivations but you can't say for sure. You can cite a hundred thousand sources, but in the end they're all opinion articles. When it comes down to it, the GOP supports a small government in general and nationalized healthcare is increasing the power of the government. It's directly contrary to their ideals.
I think this offers great incite on unbiased information regarding the subject:
http://www.opensecrets.org/industries/indus.php?ind=F09

It's statistic -- it's the only known fact to go on, and has yet to be refuted yet proven through documents which are quite clearly valid.

Sure, this doesn't necessarily cite their motive, but considering reasonable assumption based ON statistic, I'd say it's pretty damn obvious that it's one of the many things fueling the GOP's actions.

In other words, no, my assumption isn't a statistic, but the statement's based on statistic, and that cannot be refuted.

I still don't see why you went out of your way to attack me, though.  I was making pretty harmless banter in comparison to a lot of the people who consistently post in these topics.

orrr the fact that the only reason we're gridlocking Congress in on the basis that Obama is giving FEDERAL TAX pardons (which is illegal btw) to all democrats, this means they won't pay a penny more because of Obamacare, but the common person will.

You think that's okay?

If you do I think you need a little help
Want to post a source?

I have no idea what you're on about. I never said that political parties are out for the well being of the people, and I won't refute it because any (and every) entity protects itself before others. Also, you can't claim your own political opinions as fact. It's not just bad form, it's ludicrous. They're opinions because they're not rooted in fact. I drew a diagram for you, so that maybe you can understand what I'm saying as it'd be presented to a first grader.
I love that you're under the impression that you can immediately assume my ideals given accouple of posts in a blockland forum political topic.  Again, quit assuming superior knowledge here, it has yet to do anything but hinder your argument.

I'm claiming the GOP's actions are based on their personal suffering, which is based on them being funded by lobbyists who come primarily from insurance companies, who will lose money if Obamacare passes.  I'll nab sources for you if you want, but I don't think I should have to.

It doesn't really matter unless you want to vote in the primaries. You don't have to vote for the party you declare yourself in support of.
Yes. Since you don't align with the GOP, the GOP is the other side. Since you claim to not align with democrats either, that is also the "other side." It depends on connotation. You're the one making assumptions, not me.
So you're under the impression my arguments are contrarian fueled?  What about what I've said isn't true, as mocking as it may be?  No political party is out for the wellbeing of the people, they're out for their own politcal gain.  Sure, you can refute this and say it's bullstuff, but it's been the case hundreds of times and I doubt we've seen the last of greed in the political game.

You started this off attacking me for making true, though insultive, statements about an individual political party which is causing much more of a mess than the opposing one currently.  Maybe you shouldn't assume superiority in a discussion of ideals and statistic when the only thing you've got to refute them is ad hominem.

I didn't say you were a democrat. I said "the other side." As you so diligently pointed out, there's more than two takes on it. Good job right back to you, buddy.
The other side implying one?  I'm pretty much the middle ground.  Sorry for not being biased and just telling it how it is, pal.  Keep at it, though, this is entertaining.

Hopefully one day your political arguments will mature from "the other side sucks!!!!" to actual logic and reasoning. I'm not saying you'll change sides, but you look painfully dumb walking into this thread where many solid arguments have been made expressing no opinion other than dislike for the opposite party.
I don't support democrats though, so the argument you just presented is just as speculative as you believe mine to be.

Great job, but no dice, mate.

my dad is glad the government shut down, he was saying it would help the economy
Hopefully your dad doesn't think the GOP is out for your wellbeing.

I remember playing with bionicles (Is that what they're still called?) when i was little. they were a LOT bigger.
The first bionicles were smaller than modern Hero Factory stuff, so you must've hit the boat accouple of years late.

who here is really trying to defend the democrats?

honestly.. come on, have we not seen enough?
mfw this guy and Kearn still don't realise the only reason the GOP opposes obamacare is because their insurance lobbyist buttpals won't be able to give them as much money, because they'll be losing money.

Common sense ladies, learn it.

not the establishment powermonkeys whining about anyone else in the party who dare to disagree with the old guard
I think you're confused.  I'm not supporting any party by saying they're all in the attempt to better themselves, loving everyone else over is just a side effect.

yeah ok its not like the house passes budgets and then the democrats vote no on them or anything

and then they run around like chickens whining about how republicans cant make a budget and a government shutdown is the end of the world

which is actually kind of hilarious since they cant even keep their own platform afloat even with the presidency
Do you actually believe republicans are out for the welfare of our country?  Neither party is, they're out for personal gain.  That's how it's always been.

My friend recently got the SIC and is giving his shf to me.  I like SIC designs, but the scale and the poor plastic quality have turned me off from them.

That's where you are wrong pal. All of your arguments make no sense and have zero significance.
Yeah, and 2+2=6!  Why?  forget you, that's why.
