I'm curious, where is it from?
An old FPS game on the Quake 3 engine known as Star Trek Voyager Elite Force. Its a very old map first made by the community of that game; someone ported it over to Blockland and now here we are. If youhave the expansion pack CD to that game, you can still go on one of the servers and play on this map.

I have played on the map in that game myself; your player is much bigger and there are weapon/item spawns in many locations. The map's textures are from that game.

I wonder if anyone here besides me is aware of where spyglass really originated from...

General Discussion / Re: Rant about some of the Weapons we Have
« on: October 17, 2012, 03:56:10 PM »
I hate it when people talk about "Realistic" weapons on the game. Like having a bunch of stupid instant-kill, low-quality guns is fun. This is a lego game. Not call of duty. I hate SGT. A. Walters weapons the most. They are horrible. Next up is probably Gravity Cat's modern guns.

Bushido's tier tactical is the perfect balance. I love his guns. They manage to maintain that cartoonish feel to them while having acceptable realistic aspects to them. They have beautiful models and great sounds and animations and perfect damage outputs. Gravity cat's and SGT. A. Walters guns possess none of these qualities. They have choppy low-quality models, bad animations, bad sounds, and in general just have this bad feeling to them that I compare to a bad interior terrain map, whereas Bushido's guns remind me of a beautiful brick build.

Suggestions & Requests / Re: Saving 'build' permissions
« on: October 17, 2012, 03:38:31 PM »
If you make this you will get your key revoked. People have the right to have access to your builds. If you do not want people saving your builds then stop hosting online servers.

Badspot said he will personally go after users who try to make these kind of mods. The point of blockland is playing on builds, and that purpose is achieved best when builds are shared.

It seems that both democrats and republicans have their own separate set of truths they believe and thats the problem. Too many lies believed as truths these days... its like the line between whats true and whata not true is just gone because people have confused facts with opinions and vice versa. Obama believes in a different set of facts than romney does on alot of stuff. Especially the economy. I blame the internet and human stupidity.

Obama is such a liar. I would never vote for him. He has done a terrible job and I cant stand the thought of another 4 years with that democratic dolt. He's delusional if he thinks he has created jobs at all in this country. Shut up and let Romney have a turn at the wheel, because he can do a much better job than you!

I like an even balance of detail and ship size. I like details but it becomes very problematic when you get down trying to make extreme little details. Comr4de's ships show this balance quite well.

Also, there must be a balance between corridors and critical rooms. I try to keep things realistic by having toilets and showers and plenty of quarters, in addition to other necessary rooms and whatnot. Corridors should go throughout the ship but have doors at some points to prevent total loss of travel throughout the ship in the case of atmospheric decompression. Turbolifts must also go throughout the ship, but space on blockland ships is limited so you have to prioritize. Also keep in mind using the biggest bricks possible to maximize hull strength while reducing lag and keeping the ship looking nice and clean. Thick hulls make for a strong ship but can make it cramped and they can be penetrated with directed piercing weapons such as beam rifle lasers. Thin hulls allow more space inside the ship but are easily penetrated, and can be easily laid to waste with radius-damage weapons, such as rockets, torcreepes and flash cannon lasers.

Also keep in mind strategically placing rooms so that it isn't easy for invaders to overtake the ship. Corridors are important for this. Fighting in critical rooms is very dangerous as equipment can be damaged and in the crossfire something very important could get hit that could even destroy the entire ship. There's alot to take into account when building ships so it's a complicated process sometimes.

For those going "No one cares about your little stores" well, we do. We don't appreciate driving 40 miles for a coke. We like the convenience of a little store on the side of the road.
They don't get many customers and they need help keeping their business open, I know of one guy who had to sale his store to someone else since he couldn't keep it going. Not to mention its the closest store to me (6 miles away) and then there is another small store that is 8 miles away and another store about a mile down the road from that thats pretty small.

Just because you don't care doesn't mean we don't, there is a good amount of people who don't want to lose these stores.
you can't really expect anyone to be able to do anything about that. if you have to travel 6-40 miles for a gas station then you live in the middle of nowhere. nobody can solve that for you. you have to move.
