I didn't know you were such a nice-guy in game, Ike. No offense, but I don't buy that IRC chat as you genuinely acting that way. Seeing the way you respond to others during a hostile situation on this forum, it feels to me like you just spoke like you did so you'd come off as more of a victim to. Furdle is a bad guy here, no doubt, but I feel you're trying too hard to sound like you've been hurt. I support you, though.

Perhaps you should get rid of that Client_Joystick mod. If this only happens with Blockland and no other game you use a gamepad on, it's probably the addon doing this.

Okay, let's step back into reality.

This would never happen. Ever.
it would just show that others are fat. People wouldn't want to be that way but some of them do end up that way. Makes more sense than people wanting to be fat anyway.

Fat is unhealthy.
News person is being fat on TV.
A bad message is being sent to the younguns.
mostly it should just tell them how not to be, imo.

Um no. Children arent going to see an overweight newscaster and think "Hmm, being fat is healthy and I think thats attractive"

Youre using the same mentality that parents use against violence in videogames.
well, think of it this way. They see fat person on tv, shows that it's acceptible, and that they wouldn't be the only ones who were that way if they did become fat. It's not that its something to be embraced, just something that's already out there, so they wouldn't feel alone or real different.

Think of the 1950's. Machines were widely used in factories.. We still had cars, though they were ugly and very gas guzzly. Microwaves had just been invented, but most people were using simple gas stoves. Getting gas for said stoves was not hard at all. The first elevator was installed in 1847 and in the 1950's they were already automatic. And yet, with all these inventions already existed, the obesity rates were much lower. 9% of Americans were obese and 33% overweight. Now 33% of Americans are obese and many more are overweight. These inventions were around during the 1950's. They didn't cause obesity. It was another reason, Planr.Cars have existed for around 100 years. Obesity rates have only risen severely in the last 40 or so. (and yes they were commercial before 40 years ago) People probably still would be driving from 50's-now. I don't think it was technology, Planr. Maybe it was the adoption of processed food, fast food, etc?
technology was the main reason though, and it progressively has just increased over time. The fattening food is a huge reason why, too. People who were fat back then also could die more easily because our technology was not sufficient many times to let them live, therefore another reason why there were less fat people. Plus think about babies born to fat parents and such. Don't forget that kind of stuff does leave an impression on future generations. So yes, lazy lifestyle + junk food + fatter parents is what I think is responsible for the obesity problem. But it all started with the technology and the choices we make with them.

are you seriously trying to imply technological advancement is counter-productive
I'm saying that technology has allowed us to live more unhealthy lives and lifestyles more easily and with less consequence. We have all sorts of medical knowledge and procedures about how to fix ourself up when we are in bad shape. Transplants, surgeries and all sorts of stuff. On the other hand we don't have to do as much hard work as the average person did several centuries ago. So it's easier to simply hop in the car to get to the bank in 5 minutes than it is to jog there in 20.

We also have treadmills and diet plans/medicines, and so some people can stay in shape more easily. But most people will follow the lifestyle that requires less effort, because, well, it simply makes sense to them, because its easier.

Nobody's arguing that it's healthy. I don't think being fat causes diabetes, more that eating a lot of sugar causes diabetes and would also make you fat. It's like a square=rectangle kinda thing. What do you mean? TV makes us fat? Computers?
just that we are able to live lazier lives in general. We have machines to do our hard work, and cars to get around with less effort and in less time, and we have microwaves to heat up our food so we don't have to collect wood for a fire or chop down trees, we have escalators and elevators to get to that 70th floor with little to no effort, and, well, so much more.

And if he didn't have a high metabolism he'd be obese.

But does that give you the right to be a richard to someone because of their genetic disadvantages?

no.
I never even tried to insult him at all. Where did you get this from?

I sit in front of my computer literally 15+ hours a day, I weigh 120 pounds and am perfectly healthy ..

I don't believe technology makes people fat. You've yet to bring up a point other than "it's logical" "you should know that"

why don't you just say "duh" .. would save you a lot of typing ..
People can afford to be fat and suffer less consequence because of our advanced technology. We have cancer treatments and medications and all sorts of stuff that keeps fat people alive more easily. We can work less since we have machines to do the dirty work for us, most of the time. All we have to do is press a button. This really should register as "duh".

Your age, food habits and personal factors such as metabolism all greatly affect you. You probably have a high metabolism.

.. so you want me to just believe you that people are fat because of technology
no, you should have already figured out that it makes perfect sense like, a long time ago.

Oh be quiet most of you eat fast food on a weekly basis.
I know I do. And I sit in front of the computer all day playing video games and dont practice any sports. I have the love handles to testify.

Also yes Jacksaunt that's very true. Junk food is relatively cheap to produce and its loaded with unhealthy stuff.

technology doesn't sap your free will and turn you into a lazy starfish. you have to choose to use it. never go full handicap.

do you have any proven medical studies/sources for this or are you spouting bullstuff lol
it's easier for people to be lazy these days than it is to stay in shape. Most people will always go with the easier option. I can't believe you actually expect me to provide statistics. This is simply logical.

is planr serious or just trying to 'troll'

because either way he looks dumb doing it
I can't tell if you're being serious or sarcastic, but I'm honestly hoping you're not serious. I know it as an obvious FACT that advanced technology we have is the main reason for obesity these days. 200 years ago an average person would have to do heavy labor each day to provide for their families, so they stayed in shape. We didn't have treatments for the kinds of illnesses that commonly affect obese people, but it's different today because our advanced medical science helps us keep those people alive. People no longer have to do such heavy labor work to provide for themselves, cars and bikes allow us to get around much faster and with less physical effort than simply running.

If this isnt obvious then I don't know what to tell you.
