Games / Look where DRM got EA
« on: January 25, 2009, 01:58:32 AM »

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7772962.stm

According to this, Spore is the most pirated game of 08, and most sites report because of the DRM.

Ironically, the DRM was so over the top in stopping piracy and yet there was a cracked version of spore out in less than 24 hours after the release.

Also included: some stuff about 'developers' (publishing companies) that don't want to produce for the PC anymore because of piracy.

I hope I don't get banned because of this post. It was just too funny.

Add-Ons / Flooding Script
« on: January 19, 2009, 11:22:28 PM »

Flooding
A script that allows you to have water raise at regular intervals

Description

The flood mod allows super admins to set up floods. There are three flood types:
Flood - your regular flood.
Adv Flood- the water goes up a bit, receeds a bit, goes up a bit. Its a bit more drawn out.
New Flood- the intervals are a bit more random

You can also now have submerged bricks be killed.

Instructions:

1. Open the GUI.
2. Click the "Find Water" button
3. Click the "Stretch Water" button
4. Adjust the sliders at the top. Time determines how long(in milliseconds) each tick is. Amount determines how much it goes up each tick.
5. Choose a flood type and click on the appropriate button
6. Click "Water Kill Bricks" if you want submerged bricks to die
7. When you are done, click "stop".

I do have to give some credit to Jookia here, as I mostly expanded off of his base.

Notice: If you have a larger build, you may want to turn off submerged brick killing. I am looking for a better way of finding the bricks that are underwater than looping through every single brick, but my attempts at containers and such proved frustratingly fruitless.

Add-Ons / Whatis
« on: January 18, 2009, 10:09:56 PM »
This is a simple mod that allows you to make something of a simple "help index" using the /whatis command

Whatis
Quick script that allows you to set up a /whatis command

Description
Made on request of Regulith

||Listen up as I am only going to say this once.||
In order to get this to work, make a brick. On this brick, use
Onactivate : Self : SetWhatIs : [name] : [description]
and activate it. Now [name] is added to the index and you can say /whatis [name].

Important: do not use spaces in the [name].

This is in server mods as its main purpose is to be a server mod, not an event mod.

Drama / Sarcasm.
« on: January 18, 2009, 12:56:36 PM »
In every sarcastic-joke topic, there are always the idiots who don't get it.
I am shocked as to what comedy is to youngins these days-- redundant jokes about one's mother.

That is all.

(Also, remember not to feed the Yao Guai)

Disclaimer: None of these images were produced with the aid of any events-- no events were used in the creation of said photos/videos.

Recently I have created a system for more advanced explosions for my good, tasty friend muffinmix.

With it, I've made the protonuke. A very powerful bomb carried on a rocket from the rocket launcher.

Behold:
Boom!

The aftermath:

Streams of debris:

Another one of my creations(again at muffins request) is the projectile swirler. It allows projectiles to swirl around midflight and take much more complex flight paths.

Pong projectiles hovering above town, swirling around

Drama / Not possible!!1!11!
« on: December 21, 2008, 12:15:24 AM »
Why are there a bunch of people roaming around in suggestions calling every last thing "impossible" or "requires engine changes" when it would be easily possible?

Generally these folk
1) have never worked with torque/blockland or are not well versed in its limits and capabilities
2) provide stupid explanations, such as "engine changes".
3) act as if what they say is definitive and unchangeable(i.e "THAT IS NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN BECAUSE OF THE ENGINE")

I've seen this going around for a looooong time.

Suggestions & Requests / New Special Paint Effects
« on: November 01, 2008, 10:52:00 PM »

A few ideas:

Darken
What
Similar to glow, Darken does just the opposite, making it darker.
Why
If we had glow and darken, then each color would really be 3 colors, with a normal, lighter, and darker variant. This allows gray and brown scales to have fewer colors and still have the same effect.

Water
What
Works like undulate, but applies the water effect.
Why
So you can use it without using events.

Wireframe
What
Makes the brick appear as wireframe without having building tools out.
Why
Would make for some interesting effects and whatever is necessary to make bricks appear wireframed already exists.
note:Might be better as a checkbox in the wrench menu

Ghost
What
Makes the brick appear as a coloured ghost brick
Why
Mainly for effect, would be interesting, and as above the necessary coding exists.

No Texture
What
Makes the brick be untextured-- no lines, no bumps, etc. Prints still show.
Why
Would be useful in many places and the lines can be annoying in some areas.
note:Might be better as a checkbox in the wrench menu. Should also still be able to have a secondary effect like undulate.

Add-Ons / Slide Player
« on: October 08, 2008, 05:53:06 PM »
This playertype will slide on all surfaces.
Example uses:
-Skiing without skis(its much easier)
-Use events to make players have this playertype on ice areas of a build
-Fooling around!

This playertype uses Player Description(more on this later), you can type /playerdescription(or /playerdesc) <playertypenamehere> for a description of that playertype.
example:
/playerdesc slide player

Comes in normal and no-jet variations.

Known issues: falls through the floor(i.e bedroom floor) sometimes. To resolve this, make sure you spawn on bricks as they seem to not have this issue
Sometimes collides with sides of floor bricks that it shouldn't

When a roblox troll posts, don't post in their topics. press the "report to moderator" button instead.

Especially when we even post in the topics saying "dont post in this topic, let it die".

Seriously.

1) every man, woman, child, and their dog must have a drama topic in their name

This is starting to piss me off.

People constantly confuse my server with his, and now some idiot said "OMG YOU COPIED RYKUTA".

I pointed to my 739 BLID and he shat his pants, but anyways.

Rykuta, clear this up with whoever it is who frequents your server.
