General Discussion / Re: Okay. I'm Convinced.
« on: June 09, 2009, 01:30:34 AM »
Download the demo to test if you can run it. The graphics are highly customizable and you should be able to get it to run.

Considering the ever growing community, I'd say that it is awesome. It is worth it considering the [endless] amount of replay value.

There are laggy situations, but you can just move to another server(with a lower ping) or host your own(no lag yay). The server can and will crash, but not usually unless you are dealing with dangerous stuff(i.e new mods). I'm not sure about pauses, but if process-heavy actions are taken, you will experience delay.

By process-heavy action, I mean, more or less, spam. This can be resolved by an admin and live may return to normal.

So, download the demo. If you can run it moderately, you should be okay. Fool around with the graphical and advanced options until it runs smoothly. If you are sure you can run it well enough to enjoy it, then I'd say buy it. If not, look into getting a new computer/laptop.

Also, the demo only allows 150 bricks, while the full game allows 128,000(more if you glitch, but can cause crashes).

This is more than enough for almost anything. I've made large DMs in 1,000 bricks or less. If I used the entire limit, it would take hours to walk from end to end.

As another note, the amount of bricks can adversely effect the FPS, but turning down draw distance resolves this quickly.

Pokemon is a bit more straightforward, whereas Yu-Gi-oh is a lot more deceptive.

When I say reg games, I mean I'd like to do some small reg games between our blockland group, especially with newer players because when it comes to reg gaming, I'd be like a newer player myself.

The issue with normal regular gaming on Battlenet is that the people on there are just way too good at it.

Well, you can add a global list variable using 1 of 2 methods

First method:
String
Pros: a little less complicated in cases
Cons: Ineffective in some abstract situations

I will avoid mentioning this as I dislike this method.

Second method:
Array
Pros: arrays are great
Cons: arrays are great

Code: [Select]
if(!$Thelist_count){
   $Thelist_count=0;
}
$TheList[$Thelist_count]=%client.getname();
$TheList_num[%client.getname()]=$Thelist_count;
$Thelist_count++;
For adding

Code: [Select]
%i=$TheList_num[%client.getname()];
while(%i < $Thelist_count){
$TheList[%i]=$TheList[%i + 1];
$TheList_num[$TheList[%i]] = %i;
%i++;
}
$TheList[$Thelist_count]=0;
$TheList_count--;
For subtracting

Code: [Select]
%i=0;
%msg = "The list:";
While(%i < $Thelist_count){
%msg = %msg @ $TheList[%i] @ " ";
%i++;
}
messageclient(%client,'',%msg);
For viewing

All of this untested and meant to be placed in the appropriate servercmds.
I'm a little iffy on the subtraction part, can anyone look over that and make sure I didn't screw up?

I'd like to do some regular too(let me warn you though, I'm not very good at it), and some other fun maps, but yeah, that's the DoTA list.

I never really got into DoTA(mainly because of how exclusive the DoTA playing community was), but I'm up for a round or two.

Modification Help / Re: Invalid Packet
« on: June 08, 2009, 04:50:16 PM »
Depends on the type of invalid packet

Things to note:
1) sometimes execing weapons/vehicles ingame to update them can invalid packet new joiners.
2) If the particle is named the same as another file, i.e a dts file, you might have issues.

I love this game, and still have it on here. My favorite online matches are TD's. <3

I could never get to play DotA; they always kicked me and called me a "non-pro noob." If a BL game gets going, I want to come. :D
<3

I can host, if anyone wants to get some blokeland-only games going. (Of anything)

Bricks can NOT be made to move. Your idea of "moving bricks" are illusions, using what I believe is fxStaticShape, which was how bricks were made in v0002.
What.

Yeah, because you know, its not like I've already made moving bricks or anything, no.
