In fact, Ryze goes with the definition of your carry exactly. He is incredibly weak early game, being extremely squishy and having problems with a pushed lane. However, he turns into an absolute monster come lategame. Same with Vladimir, who is very weak pre-9, and then becomes very powerful come late game. Cass is a bit different - her early game is very strong - however her late game is just as scary with her sustained damage.
Sustained AP champs can be considered carries late game because their damage is insane. A champion like Veigar would be harder to call a carry because he uses all of his kit and then has to wait 10 seconds to do anything useful.

I thought he was a pretty bad champ. Guess everyone I've seen play him just did really bad.

Just played with a really good Viktor. Completely dominated the enemy Morgana in lane and then went to dominate all teamfights with his ult.

thornmail + randuins + warmogs + spirit visage (for passive, not for resist or anything) + taunt in teamfight = 5 people attacking the person with +100 hp10 and our varus + brand (note they were all ad: brand's ult was loving incredible as well as his w) just melted them
i love games like this

ever since i saw voyboy doing it i really wanted to do it (not the fact that voyboy did it, the fact that it looked really loving fun). i gave up first blood because of a big mistake on my part to xin, but i snowballed around 10-15 minutes. got me some kills and stuff turned into shat

Mundo has one of the fastest clear times, a powerful duelist, and becomes a raid boss late game. Udyr is also a very fast and mobile jungler with potent ganks, and also a very strong top lane.

Why do people make smurfs to destroy newbies? I understand why you'd make a smurf if you wanted to play with a friend of yours that just started. However, why would you ever make a smurf to play with people that have no idea how to play the game? Is it some sort of low self esteem thing?
