Hunting Megathread.

Overview Of Hunting

Hunting has been A way of survival for MANY years. It was very vital to people like the Indians with their buffalo. These days, hunting is around a lot, but people don't bother about it as much, because most people are vegan or they just buy their meat at the store. In my personal opinion, i'm a family guy. To me, everything is better when you cook it, you process it, and you prepare it by yourself. Lots of families still hunt today. Hunting is a real joy to a lot of people. Some people actually live of their land now, by hunting, fishing, and farming.

Equipment

When hunting, you ALWAYS want to be prepared. Make yourself a check list, if you want. But, if your among those who are far to lazy, i'll put down mine.

  • Hunting License - You ABSOLUTELY NEED THIS. If you are caught hunting by the often unfriendly game warden, you can be fined, or even arrested. These can get very pricy, depending on your state or area. For where I live, I am pretty sure its around $250. To get a license, you must be over the youth age limit (varies from every state/area) And you MUST have this on you ANYTIME you are hunting. Guys, there is a REASON this is first on the list.
  • Your Weapon - For killing, of course.
  • Ammunition - For rifles, you will probably not need more than 6-7 bullets if you are going to attempt to kill one animal.
  • Survival Knife - Always have one of these handy, in case you need to cut some string, or maybe a thin branch or two.
  • Big Backpack - To fit all of these things listed in.
  • First Aid Kit - For the occasional infected scratch from a rusty nail in the blind/stand
  • Entertainment - If you are a ADHD person, or you have a hard time sitting still for long periods of time, bring something to keep you occupied. I would not recommend anything such as a iPod, iPhone, iPad, etc. Reason being because sometimes, the mute does not always work. You can stop at a gas station and pick up a poker game of some sort.
  • Radio - For contact with your home, camp, club etc.
  • Vehicle - ALWAYS BRING A VEHICLE. Unless you are hunting ducks off a back porch, you will need a vehicle. For deer hunting, it is recommended that you keep a hitch of some sort to put a giant dead deer on. A golf cart would even work. Also, vehicles will come in handy for those long walks.
  • Flashlight - Oh my gosh, I cant express this any more than typing this message could POSSIBLY ever could. BRING. A. FLASHLIGHT. If you are hunting deer, this, will be a priority. When hunting deer, I usually go at about 5:00 AM in the stand, so I need one for the trip there. In the afternoon, bring one just in case if you come back a little later than expected.
  • Bucket/Chair - If you are going to a old blind or stand, you will need something to sit on, because chances are, there is nothing there.
  • Binoculars - Any pair of binoculars should do good, but some that are expensive, are worth the money.
  • Rangefinder (Optional) - A rangefinder is very handy when you are not exactly sure what the range is between you, and the game. Using these could also judge your bullet drop if your a real pro and know what your doing.
  • Boots - In case you are hunting in muddy weather.
  • Headphones/Earplugs - For people like me who have 3x more sensitive ears than the average human being.
  • Reflective Orange Clothing - So you aren't mistaken as a animal by the blind hunters out there, and shot to death. Or, if they idiotic game wardens handicapped regulations.

Types Of Hunting

The MAIN types of hunting will be listed below.

  • Deer Hunting
  • Elk hunting
  • Varmint Hunting
  • Duck Hunting
  • Extreme Hunting

Deer Hunting

Deer hunting is a very precision type of hunting. For deer hunting, you must be patient, still, quiet, and most of all, deadly.

Elk Hunting

Elk hunting is pretty much hunting huge deer with giant antlers. Elk hunting requires all of the deer hunting skills.

Varmint Hunting

O.K., most of you folks probably have NO IDEA what varmints are, and most do. Let me define this for you in easier terms.

Varmint - Fox, Coyote, Bobcat, Squirrel, etc.

Varmint hunting is not very hard. It requires some accuracy, you don't have to be very quiet, or very patient. You just have to have a Good Eye.

Duck Hunting

O.K., so it seems everything I have listed already sounds quite difficult in some terms. You have to be quiet, stealthy, patient, but then, there is duck hunting. Duck Hunting is the most action packed type of hunting there is. Basically, if it quacks, shoot it. You don't need very much accuracy, seeing that your using a shotgun that has a wide spread most of the time. In duck hunting, you'll want to remain quiet, when a flock is just above, poke your heads out, and knock the hell outta' them ducks. And unless you feel like going find all of your four hundred ducks you and your buddies have killed, get a hunting dog.

Updates should be up within the next couple of days after post. The next update should include some pictures of weapons that are good to use for hunting and pictures of their ammunition.

Ok, now I know that some of you think that hunting is sick if you do it to see something blow up, and I agree. You shouldnt do that. But if you are going to eat it, its fine by me. God put these animals on earth to eat. PLEASE DO NOT COMMENT ABOUT THIS, I DONT WANT A SPONTANEOUS COMBUSTION OF BAD COMMENTS IN ARGUMENTS. I JUST WANTED TO SAY THIS BEFORE SOMEONE SAID SOMETHING.

Modification Help / Aerodynamic's Model Showcase [UPDATE]
« on: April 07, 2013, 12:56:12 PM »
So, I know ive made 2 other model topics, but I guess I can make this last one and showcase all my models here. Well, starting now.

Flashlight

Description/Status

I made this as a test to see if it would come out good, and I planned to use it in a mod im thinking of making, but it hasnt been confirmed yet. It isnt scripted yet, but I plan on forming a custom script to work better than the other ones out there...

HL1 Glock

Description/Status

This was requested by someone who is making a Half Life 1 DM, so im making some weapons for this person. This hasnt been scripted yet, either. I also plan on making a Spas-12 for this person as well, but it wont be very soon that it will be done, because of the fact that I take my time on full scale models like that.

Headset Radio

Description/Status

I created this model today (As of 6:56 PM 4/8/2013) for my Radio Mod. It hasn't been scripted yet.

Modification Help / Hug Help (ANOTHER PROBLEM)

I slapped this together with some help from Zeblote, and it shows up on the add on list now, but it doesnt work :/

Code: [Select]
package Script_Hugs
{
function servercmdHug(%a)
{
parent::servercmdHug(%a);
%a.play2d(patrick);
}
};
activatepackage(Script_Hugs);

And yes, I made the sound and placed it in the folder. And it is looped and done correctly.
