Matt Groening has announced that the Simpsons might soon be coming to an end.

The animation is apparently a pain staking process, and the 60 millions viewers world wide are still wanting to be surprised.

The show has been running for 13 seasons, and apparently it is now running out of "funny story lines".

Groening added "I think Fox will wring every last penny out of the show before they call it a day." The show has made over £1bn for the channel Fox (US).

This was written in 2002, oh wow.

Games / Hilariously bad Pakistan Sonic Heroes Happy Meal Commercial.

OH GOD WHAT'S GOING ON HOLY stuff

Tails is missing a nose and has a long neck.
Shadow and Sonic both have downs' syndrome.
Amy looks like a transloveual.
Rogue looks like a goddamn mouse.
OH GOD WHAT HAPPENED TO CREAM

And this was from 2004, not 1997, hell, even the french did a better job on animating two years later.

I didn't know where to put this, but this is related to a game, after all.

Games / The Cutting Room Floor

The Cutting Room Floor

Holy stuff, this website is really interesting, it documents the lot of stuff that were cut out of games before their release, and also prototypes and things they simply programmed but never used in the games.

For example, here are a few highlights from their pokemon sections.
Pokemon Red & Blue

Did you know the pokedex order was going to be much, much more different in Red and blue?

That by default, in the U.S version of the game, the names for the player and rival are "Ninten" and "Sony" , and can be used by skipping the name selection dialog via cheats?[/url]

Pokemon Gold & Silver
Did you know that a lot of the sprites were changed for international localization?

That the game was originally going to have it's own safari zone, that is still in the game's code but inaccessible?

That the developers left the early maps for the towns in the code?

Modification Help / The Planets : Remake [The Laterverse!]
« on: December 28, 2011, 12:45:07 PM »
In tribute to ReactorWorker's series of planet maps I enjoyed back in 2007-2010, I'm making my own map with his ideas and aspirations in mind.

But anyway, here's a size comparison on the planet's that have been done so far (These are only placeholder textures, and the sizes may not exactly be to scale in the final version, it depends on Torque's max draw distance!)

Each planet will have an interior inside, the moon will have a few craters, Earth have rolling hills and a water source (I'm using Physical Zones and a shape for this since Torque water floods the entire map) and Saturn would be a cloudy area with floating rocks, these won't be the only planets here though, the map could stretch out for miles and miles!
Also, best of all, it would be aligned to the brick grid! so you can build space colonies and stuff.

Anyway, I'll post more updates here, keep an eye out!

Off Topic / The NYC Cash Bash (Raise money for charity!)

We are a small group of video game "enthusiasts" who would like to raise money for our favorite charity: Child's play. We're doing this by live streaming us playing our favorite games (that are also fun to watch), for a full TWENTY FOUR HOURS. That's right, one whole day. We will be streaming on Justin.tv on December twenty second starting at 12pm EST(-6). We will have a wide array of games going from a wide array of systems. between us we have almost every major system after the NES. We all have a wide array of tastes and will be playing a wide array of games, from NFL blitz to Jamestown to Mortal Kombat, And we would be ecstatic if you would join us in our cause. And while you're there, sling a chunk o'change at some sick kids(good for the soul).

There will be a full time tech team as well as a full time commentating desk that gaurentees hype and entertainment and a quality stream.

What is Child's Play?

(from the child's play website)
Since 2003, we’ve set up and organized Child’s Play, a game industry charity dedicated to improving the lives of children with toys and games in our network of over 70 hospitals worldwide. Over the years, you as a community have answered the call and come together to raise millions of dollars.
Child’s Play works in two ways. With the help of hospital staff, we set up gift wish lists full of video games, toys, books, and other fun stuff for kids. By clicking on a hospital location on our map, you can view that hospital’s wish list and send a gift.
Child’s Play also receives cash donations throughout the year. With those cash donations, we purchase new consoles, peripherals, games, and more for hospitals and therapy facilities. These donations allow for children to enjoy age-appropriate entertainment, interact with their peers, friends, and family, and can provide vital distraction from an otherwise generally unpleasant experience

What Games Are you Playing?

We have about couple of games planned out, but we will be taking suggestions for games to play. Just post below me. If enough people vote on the game, WE WILL PLAY IT. However, if during the stream people find the game boring, we may move on to another for the sake of joy and wonder ( ).

The systems we have are:
-NES, SNES, N64, WII
-Xbox, Xbox360
-Ps2, Ps3
-Genesis, Dreamcast
-PC (of course)

The games we have planned are
-Mortal Kombat 9 (Xbox 360)
-NFL Blitz 2000 (Dreamcast) HAIIIIIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLL LLLLLLLLLLLLLLL MAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRYYYYYYYYY YYYYYYY
-Battlefield 2 (PC)
-Starcraft 2 (PC)
-Alien Swarm (PC)
-TF2 (PC)
-Insanely twisted Shadow planet (XBLA)
-Doom 2 (PC)

And more

FAQ:

Will it be video games all the time? What if I'm not a Nerd lik u lol!!111
No forgeter, there won't but other things on this stream that isn't people playing video games, HOWEVER there will be ANOTHER stream that will go up occasionally with other activities, some planned, some not.

Yes they do jimmy, yes they do. (http://www.childsplaycharity.org/)

Will you be keep any of the money you greedy forgets?!
no, we will not be receiving any of the money. 100% of the money raised will go to child's play

How do I donate?
There will be a handy dandy Widget on the stream for donating, or if that fails, you could donate directly on their site (again, http://www.childsplaycharity.org/)

When will this glorious event take place?
December 22nd 12pm EST - 12PM EST

Is there any way I can help?
There sure is, if you can host a stable server for a variety of games, post below, or if you would like to moderate the chat (on a shift of course) post as well. Also posting in this thread with suggestions or discussion or what not to raise awareness is cool too

Are you ready for some football?
HAIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL MAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRYYY YYYYYYYYYYY

Can I follow you on twitter
Yes you can, @NYCcashBash

Can I call in during the show
If we can get something set up then yes! the skype account is NycCashbash

We rely on you for publicity, so if you like this, and want to support it, be sure to post below so more people will see this thread
Copied from the SomethingAwful thread.

Games / ROBLOX Just broke the fourth wall.
« on: December 23, 2011, 06:42:14 AM »
http://ironnoob.com/forums/index.php/topic,6135.0.html
A user I know called HatHelper in the Ironnoob community (Another forum run by John Shedletsky that's dedicated to gaming) managed to make a converter that converts Blockland save files into ROBLOX .rbxl files, but don't worry since he's not releasing it any time soon.
It's scary, but amazing regardless, here's Afghanistan, ACM City and the Pirate Ships in the ROBLOX format.

P.S Converted maps lag like stuff on ROBLOX.

Modification Help / New Block City [Development Thread]
« on: December 18, 2011, 09:33:01 AM »

I was inspired by Antares' GTT: Viano City, by it's idea of a small (as in, not as huge as say, a GSF City map.) city map, but with a lot of detail and room for practical things to be done.
So, what I decided to do is to make a small NY-styled blocko city map,

This is the part of the map I'm currently working on, right now it's a road corner with a small marina and a few snazzy lampposts, the textures are not quite done yet, so it's mostly grey right now, but I promise to add a reasonable amount of color when it's finished!
I want to give the city as much character as possible, hot dog stands, various parodies of real-life buildings, construction sites, you probably get the idea.
Anyway, discuss, suggestions and criticism are appreciated!

So, I was being dropped off to my house via my grandparents.
Lightning then suddenly striked, and I was scared stuffless and ran up into my house, suddenly a stuffload of hail fell down, and now it's like as if it snowed.
I'll post a picture in a second.

Off Topic / Oh stuff this is a **COOL** video.

It love going to the barber to get my hair done, and this recreates the experience with Holophonic 3D sound, which is a special type of sound that, with decent headphones, allows you to hear the sounds around you like as if they were actually there, it's most effective when you close your eyes

Before you think "oh, it's probably that same old Virtual Barbershop there's been posted on YouTube for the last four years" think again, It's a 16-minute long hair salon video, that has razors, scissors, water spray, brush, and other things that are usually used in a barbershop, this is superior.
