its the same thing. When my class decides to blast justin bieber over the room's loudspeakers, i can't simply "not listen". I have to sit through stuff like that, and yes, it does cause me pain. Today's music is terrible, especially our pop genre. I feel like i'm losing brain cells every time I hear a katy perry song in the mall or in the car or on TV.
I don't like Justin Bieber either, but I respect that people like him.
Maybe you should do the same.

Maybe it is different where you live. Where I live, people sing songs in class. We also had a competition during a pep assembly where we had to sing lyrics to pop songs. They also play them on the radios in stores.
The only reason people do that is because thats whats popular in todays world.

I once went to a pep assembly where everything they played was classical.

You're making the same broad, sweeping generalizations as Blok. How am I stupid for liking a certain sound in my music? I don't like today's music but I can comprehend that artists put a lot of effort into their work despite how much I hate listening to it. I do think the type of music I listen to is better and I have listened to the music of today. Hell, I like a few Lady GaGa songs and three or four Daft Punk songs.
Then you're not one of the stupid ones. I wasnt exactly talking about everyone who likes old music is stupid, I like some older songs. I was talking about the people who only listen to classic music, and never even bother listening to todays generation or music.

"You don't have to listen to it"

And if I fart in your face, you don't have to smell.
Completely different things.
Music is something that is very diverse. Many people like many different things. Just because you dont like something, doesnt mean someone else doesnt.
You make it seem like todays music is causing you pain, when you could completely ignore it and listen to your own stuff music.

So does anyone here actually like today's mainstream music that we can argue with? It seems like most of the people here like lesser known bands nowadays rather than Justin Bieber and Katy Perry.
Lol.
You shouldnt loving argue about musical taste. Telling someone they're stupid for listening to Justin Bieber or Katy Perry doesnt change their mind, you know.

Modern music is garbage and the people who make it, like Lady GaGa and Nicki Minajj are just idiotic love dolls in ridiculous suits who live materialistic lives of reliance on their fame to survive. They have no real talent. Autotune and computers deserve more of the credit than the actual musicians themselves these days. Hollywood and the music and celebrity music industries are things full of sadness and worldly emptiness.
Im about to say something that may piss a few people off.
I think people who dwell on the past, and only listen to music from the 80s or below, are loving stupid. They constantly say that todays music is stuff, but how would they know? They're too busy bullstuffting themselves into thinking their music is the best to even consider listening to music of today.

Planr, your argument is loving stupid. Yes, everyone has heard of Lady gaga or nicki minaj, but no one is forcing you to listen to them. I, personally, like to listen to a lot of metal/death metal, and guess how often I ever hear them? Never. There are people like Lady Gaga in every generation, believe it or not.

Has anyone seen The Woman in Black? I thought it was great, had the perfect amount of suspense and it was very original and unpredictable.
Funny because I watched it last night.
I didnt like it. It was too predictable.
Spoilers, I guess: The part in the end when the boy started walking towards the train, I saw that coming from a mile away.

Except back in the 60s-80s the good artists were at the top of the charts. Now some crappy artists are.
Funny enough, they're at the top of the charts because people like them.
Just because you dont, doesnt mean they are crappy artists.

This whole music debate is loving handicapped. We all like different things, but everyone seems to get pissed off when someone else likes something they dont like.
