tyvm!! i was looking up to this for a rll long time because i just dont enjoy 2D sidescroller art styles until i found inspiration from Night in the woods & with help from the polygonal lasso this assignment turned from work into meditation it was a great timeI definitely noticed NitW inspiration by looking at that piece. i made this little test of one of the characters from my game, icegon, and nobita
the 3d model is lacking and the... nobita, you said his name is could be shaded a little better. i recall someone posting a shading tutorial, but you should try having one consistent light source so it looks better. hope this helps

if you're trying to do shading, please try and establish some form of light source first off
i colorcoded the different light directions i found
there's like 4. that ain't good.
