there's also this dumbass emitter thing in a hidden room that's just like a hundred 1x1s dropping blood particles

like that's already terrible but apparently it's visible from the main map which makes the entire thing lag way more then it has any right to

the entire time i thought rot would kill himself by accidentally jumping while standing next to spikes

he's so forgetin fast around them but i only saw him actively turn himself away like once so maybe he's just really good at spikes

i'm not really all that angry

it sort of surprises me when people go 'man why is bushido so butthurt all the time' but i'm actually really jovial and am speaking in the exact way i would talk normally except minus the bouts of laughter

so you get all of the actual dialogue and none of the fluff that would make me seem less mad

As a heads up for later, Fragile+High Damage is called "Glass Cannon" in MMO's/Other RPG's.

no i'm aware

what i'm describing is a Paper Ram, though

high damage and super fragile but fights at excessively short range and relies on sheer speed to make sure it doesn't get hit

Modification Help / Re: CityMod
« on: August 13, 2013, 12:07:41 PM »
in the original city RPG crime was supposed to form a sort of feedback loop with the police force, causing the economy to rotate around a specific pattern of events

1: criminals forget up some guy and steal his money (but produce no real money in return)
2: cops capture them, producing money (from nowhere) while the criminal gets to keep their cash
3: the cops spend their money on guns to better capture criminals
4: the guy who sells guns gets money stolen from them from criminals

(i was completely unaware of this when i worked with iban because i was a 13-year-old dunce and didn't know what the forget i was doin)

when people make cityRPGs people don't seem to catch the idea that if you remove crime, you have to add something else

what you should do is make business have a much bigger sphere of influence, and have people be able to generate income RoB-style by owning lots and selling goods to people who need it (food, material, NOT GUNS) and have guns maybe be some form of cottage industry that can only come around when sufficient materials are present, and the person who wants to make the gun has sufficient money for tools and construction

actually what would be really cool was if the building system was constrained to the point that you could only place _entire groups_ of prefabricated items (like duplications) so in order to create a house you'd need to buy- and thus find someone who sells- the specific kinds of blocks you want so you can build the thing you're trying to build, and those different prefabs have to be made of specific kinds of material

thus allowing for the economy to be a bit more robust and also giving players things to do with material besides make guns

the issue (with these elements all in play) becomes making crime interesting enough to keep people doing crimes

Drama / Re: Bim - "Im shutting down anyways"
« on: August 13, 2013, 11:59:49 AM »
funny how people get banned by a host for stupid reasons, make a drama, and people reply with "well its his server he can do that"

but in this sense its TOTALLY not cool?

i think it's dependent on whether it's obvious the host is on a power trip or not

like if you get banned for not following some rule that the host clearly wants you not to follow but isn't necessarily something standard and he's either warned you a stuff-ton of times or you've been present when someone else was punished for it it's your forgetin fault for not following the host's instructions

but like if the guy just goes 'well i'm gonna ban everyone on the server now' it's the host's problem because he's the one being the jackass

2753
it's more a TPS then an FPS but it's also a capable FPS

anyway, so i played this, and it's very tolerable. i actually don't hate it

it won't let me play at an 800x600 resolution, so i literally cannot read some of the information, but that might make it better

i'm not sure how competent i'm being as a combatant but i seem to be doing no worse or no better then the average guy who stops in to help me in a fight (which i find REALLY COOL, like people are willing to just camraderize whenever the forget) but i don't like the way the classes seem to have no paper ram

like my entire playstyle revolves around playing really fragile characters that go super fast and do super high damage at great risk and here i am, 30 feet behind where i'd usually stand, effortlessly dodging slow-ass plasma rockets because my shotgun is stuff in firearm form

holy forget i loved old world blues, start to finish

can't get enough of how forgetin over-the-top they were with the characters everything still sort of smells like ham

2755
a first person military shooter in which you play a freelance mercenary in a nonlinear plot between two entities that are very distinct but both have good reasons for going to war with eachother and both are completely sympathetic

wiping out either side (both with their own plot-line) leads to a bad ending- the true ending is simply settling the war with as little bloodshed and as much guile as possible, possibly going after a barely-alluded-to but definitely-present shadow faction that is far more powerful and is using both sides as a means to an end

the gameplay, however, is basically team fortress-style crazy fps bullstuff from start to finish

As long as it isn't that weird-ass travesty that was Metal Slug 3D.

And how exactly would/should Metal Slug be "tastefully" reimagined? Like more appropriate to culture/women/politics/etc? Or more akin to being more tasteful to fan demand and the first 3(4?) games? Just curious is all

'tastefully reimagined' in that, in true metal slug tradition, the entire game is a clusterforget of surprises and non sequitrs from start to finish

like you know how the opening level of metal slug 3 looked like it could feasibly be just a really cartoony side scrolling shooter and then giant crabs appeared and everything sort of snowballed into this mass of bullets and explosions and what little sense you could make out of the game was completely invalidated by the fact you're too busy shooting dudes to care

that feel, but consistent throughout the game and slightly streamlined for modern consoles (or possibly just PC)

2758
metal slug but tastefully reimagined and reworked for the modern age

still sidescrolling, still 2(.5?)d, but with more guns are more bullstuff and more everything

Games / Re: Why every animated movie get a stuffty game now?
« on: August 04, 2013, 02:49:28 PM »
the reason movies are released when they are is to allow for movie games (and other related merchandise) to come out around the same time, so people buy stuff based on hype from the movie. it's sort of like advertising

also movie games have always sucked. there's no heart put into them, they're just made to mooch off the movie's success. usually games that are made completely detached from a movie's release are fine though because there's actually thought being put into them
