i don't password mine because my stuff usually involves having multiple people

and i don't like having a specific group of dudes, cause then they'd either get wise to the bullstuff i pull or be too small to accomplish what i'm trying to do anyway

combat is boring because you're not on a PC

well, it's boring because you're not playing with mods. which are for PCs.

point still stands, though.

he's saying we should have lag compensation and prediction.

most modern games have it nowadays and it's basically client-side simulation of server-side activity so lag is less noticeable

i'm pretty sure blockland doesn't do it to minimize what hackers can do to it. the only thing the client can do is control a character on the server- the server itself does the rest, simulating physics n stuff

i expected it- i just also expected to get mad at a bunch of dudes

i mean, that's not even funny. there's no irony, there's no wind-up, there's just people flying in the face of the topic matter basically for the sake of pissing me off

yes that's a wonderful piece of stuff you've got going there thank you for rubbing it all over the place to prove my point

When people purposely act like morons and do the exact thing the OP complains about in a drama topic, it pisses me off.

Why don't people get banned for this?

technically it's not quite dismissive and technically it's not admittance to trolling

it is trolling, but nobody's actually said "i am trolling you" which the entire rule revolves around- cause once someone's played that card, it's no fun to watch anymore

Off Topic / Re: Project UKA: Making a Real Nation (Need Support)

... not really, no

countries are not automatically higher on the chain of command then companies. in some cases the exact opposite is true

and besides that i understand this is basically just youth happening but there are way better reasons to make a country then 'because i can' and for that reason alone it's probably more healthy to go do something else. i mean managing a stuff-ton of people is not healthy for anyone, but bringing that upon yourself for no reason is asinine

I agree. It's pretty pointless, and is quite a bother to me. Instead of saying /support, why don't you guys actually support the topic by providing info, past occurrences, etc. instead of replying with that useless garbage?

actually i really hate people dragging in past occurrences too

like there's actual proof one way or the other- things like previous examples of similar things happening- and then there's instances where people just drag in stuff from wherever and turn the entire argument from a generally cool-headed and logical affair to this ad hominem personality contest where it doesn't matter which side is right, just which side has done more stupid stuff

Even though I have done it myself, it is pretty annoying.
Support.

wh

you just said you think it's dumb and you're doing it anyway

what is the point of doing this

yes, i understand you 'support' the topic, but what does that really mean? you would back up the poster in a court of law?

i guess i understand the sentiment but holy stuff you're not actually getting anything done; you've probably got a whole mess of reasons as why you do or don't agree with what is being said and directly stating those reasons would give infinitely more insight on why you don't like something and whether other people should follow suit (or not, if that doesn't fly with their own opinions) then just stating that you 'support'. you're not contributing at all.

like if you really supported what the original poster was saying then you would probably be digging up background information on the matter or something- you know, align yourself with one side, put forth an effort to have something happen. otherwise, your 'support' doesn't mean stuff because you aren't doing stuff to support

it's infuriating! what're you trying to get done?

you couldn't

yet you made an assumption.

so it's gonna be 3/4ths roguelike? will it have permadeath, turn/tick based actions, random generated worlds, randomized item effects, tile based system?

no, 3/4ths as in that's the perspective it's played from.

it's a roguelike in that some of the dungeons and weapons are randomly generated but it's probably more like an open world rpg more then anything. already got a turn/tick based system (which is HELLA COOL, by the way) and a tile based system rolling

so yes that's done

i didn't think it was annoying at all. besides they barely elaborated on it in SR3, you could do a lot more with the concept

it actually seems like a pretty neat idea but it's also a medieval (well, pseudo-medieval) roguelike so there's no real reason things like lag would effect the protagonist outside of magicka-style spell casting

which is too far down the 'completely not serious' scale for my preference

(things)

... thank you for outlining every rpg ever.

i am explicitly trying to mess around with the way rpgs work, not make a generic one for the sake of making a generic one

try to move away (or at least do something interesting with) the stereotypical building blocks

Needs a wacky character that just so happens to show up everywhere you go.

done.

there's a monster hunter in every town who- should you bring him the remains of some monster- will give you a little bit of background information, tell you one of his many hunting stories, help fill out a Bestiary sort of item and then finally give you a small damage bonus when fighting that monster

so he's practical, and fun to talk to

he also carrys around a heavy bowgun and is nigh-unrecognizable through his plate armor and might not be the same person every time you meet him

functionally top down but it's actually a 3/4ths roguelike
