we'll probably end up with terrain bricks, unofficial or not. sort of a foregone conclusion on that end

block party is small by necessity. you're only allowed to use 64x64 areas, and it's generally accepted you shouldn't claim entire masses of areas to turn into one single forest or something

You could easily goof off in a loaded build or someone else's server.

this seems to be mine and barn's only claims to fame

also we're good at what we do, so there's that.

don't use only 4x4s and don't put so much detail into your terrain that people have to jump over 4x4 rocks in the first place

conservation of detail is an absolute must when it comes to map design unless it's either single player or you're trying to draw attention to something in particular

Then stop trying to recreate slopes and do something original god damn it

also stop trying to pander to fps kiddies and use blockland for making lands of blocks

i mean, really. are you trying to impress 5 year olds or are you trying to impress yourself

well, if we're scrapping interiors, logically komp/baddy will have to buff up the collisions between bricks and vehicles to keep vehicles from becoming silly and useless

and wasting our beautiful jeep model

Large-scale landscapes without thousands of bricks

wait, what?

thousand-brick landscapes are generally goddamn ginormous

remember that DM i made with the big bridge in the middle and the log-paths to the sides? the terrain there was like, maybe 300 bricks total. the rest of it was the buildings and the bridge itself

if you've reached a thousand bricks, you're either amazingly inefficient or are hiding caves

I was thinking of making some extra bricks that'll fit nicely with cubes.

The best part of this is that Ill never have to see another stuffty GSF map. They were seriously the ugliest piece of stuff maps I have ever seen and I will never understand how THEY got popular vs amazing maps like Plate and Ladios' slate edits!

A lot more people'll start playing this. And after a rush of confused people, some new "smart" players may develop/help develop some sort of solution to satisfy people who so desperately miss their terrains and interiors.

these smart people will just turn out to be people competent enough to make their own terrain

I'm afraid I can't think of any maps that I will truly miss. Interiors and terrain blocks opened up many possibilities for map creators but nothing valuable was created. We've had years to come up with some truly memorable, useful maps but it just hasn't happened.

As others have said, the brick limit is a concern.

you will not reach this limit unless you either try to construct kansas or try to specifically reach the brick count

if you try to construct kansas, you're probably trying to do the latter
