These are just a few things that I made it ceramics class. My teacher took the pictures and sent them to me.
Awesome Coil Pot:This was a coil pot I made a while ago. A coil pot is a pot made from small cylinders of clay, slipped and scored together, then smoothed over. I didn't put very much effort into this, for I was in a rush. It can not hold liquid because I didn't have any over-glaze put on it. I painted on black under-glaze, with a yellow-orange under glaze to make a quick design, and a somewhat-awesome face.
Bumble Bee Cup:This is a tiny cup I made a while ago. As you can see, it's quite small when you look at it with a penny. You can take off the lid, of course, and you are able to poor liquid into it without it soaking through, since the outside is coated with glaze which turned to glass.
It was made on the wheel with basic tools, and the the under-glazes were orange and black, with a clear over-glaze.
Bambo Pieces:This was actually made with 4 pieces. Other than the two you see, there was a tiny cup, about the size as the Bumble Bee cup, along with a volcano-shaped cup, about the same size as the Bumble Bee Cup. The volcano-shaped cup could fit the top into the other tiny cup. The pieces are symbolic, because each has a Chinese symbol at the bottom that depict what kind of piece it is.
On the bottom of the plate, it says Pride, for it was a my first plate I have every made. It may be hard to tell, but the bamboo illustration on the plate is organized, and appears to be wound tight to symbolize that pride.
The cup says Disgrace, because I had many difficulties with it. It is misshapen because there were some accidents in the making of the piece. As you can tell, the bamboo on the cup is random, because it is disgraceful.
On the other two pieces were Ease and Frustration. The Ease on the cup had a smooth straight bamboo design, for it was easy to make. The frustration cup has a zig-zagged bamboo design, symbolizing frustration.
All of the pieces can hold liquids. It had 3 different colors. Cinnamon, Pearooster, and Forest Green. The color was the under-glaze, and the over-glaze was a simple clear glaze.
Life Pitcher:This pitcher was made with a lot of difficulty and time. It is my best ceramics piece, and I am very proud of it. I had entered a contest with this, for my teacher had made me. :P
The pitcher is made from a couple different pieces. The base, spout, and handle. The base was created on the wheel, and so was the spout. The spout was cut down the center, and the bottom was slipped and scored onto the base. A small hole was cut, and the spout was done. The handle was just some clay on a stick, then rolled out to have a gap. The holes in the sides are also small handles, which I admit, wasn't the greatest idea, for not very much water can go in the pitcher.
The pitcher pours easily, and doesn't tend to dribble down from the spout. The handle is held on by copper wire. The under-glaze was Pearooster, and Blue-Green. The over-glaze was a simple clear glaze
I call it the Life Pitcher because it reminds me of life. In my life, most of it has been mild, or not so great, but occasionally you get those gems that make it all worth it. This is how this piece is to me. It is one of those things that makes me happy about ceramics.
