Modification Help / ►►►Tutorial: Milkshape 3D animation.
« on: April 28, 2008, 06:39:38 PM »
How to animate your model in Milkshape 3D.
"This tutorial will look plain, and boring, but animation takes time. Be patient.Tutorial recommended to people who know how to make their add-ons work in-game."

Make your model.
I have already made a couple of tutorials on how to make your model. Only look at the parts about modeling. Not about coding, or afterwards.
Modeling Basics.
Extensive Modding.

Assign joints to parts that you want to move.
Ok, so first you have to place joints where you want to mode a certain part of the model. The joints do not have to have any special names. Try to keep them blank, or maybe numbered, to help select what joint you are moving in further steps.
When making the joints for animation, and for the model, you must click where you want a joint, then de-select the joints you just placed. Then you may repeat. If there are arrows leading from one joint to another, you did it wrong. To de-select, just click off into the grid until nothing is red, or looks selected.

Assign parts of the model to your joints.
After you make the joints, if you want to move anything, your going to have to assign which parts of the model to assign to the joints. In the groups tab, select the groups you want to move, when you move a certain joint. When you select all the parts, click on the joint tab, then click on the name of the joint you want to move in your animation once. Then click the assign button.

Do this for all the pieces you want to move through out the animation. Any parts that you DON'T want to move, should be assigned to the "mountPoint" joint, for separation.

Animating.
When animating, it may look very hard, so read over the steps carefully, and be patient.
1st: Click "Anim" in the bottom in the lower right hand corner.

2nd: Click on "Animate" at  the top, then click "Set Keyframe".

3rd: Depending on how fast you want the animation to run, go about 5 spaces over on the line.

4th: Click on the Joint tab, then double click on the joint, or joints, you would like to move. for a small part of the animation.

5th: Move the joint you selected, and move it with the Move button, or rotate button. You cannot scale down shapes in animation mode.. The model parts that you assigned to the joint, will move with it. Through the 5 frames you passed through, Milkshape will automatically make the animation for you, after you do the next step. (This will not effect the original state of the model)
6th: When you have moved all the joints that you want for that frame, click on Animate, then click "Set Keyframe" again. you can thumb through the line and see how it turned out so far.

7th: Repeat this until your animation is done.
8th: When your animation is done, click on the "Anim" button at the bottom right corner. This will bring you out of animation mode.

9th: Click File, then save to ensure your work will be there if you need to make modifications.

Once you have mastered making a good animation for it, when you export it, you will have to follow these steps:

1st: To export to a DTS file, you will have to click on File, then export, then Torque DTS Plus.

2nd: When the menu pops up, make it look similar to this:

3rd: To make your animations show up, you must make them. Click on add.

4th: You will have to have to name it. If you want it to use the animation you made when you fire, in the name box, type in "Fire". If you want the animation to play constantly, all the time, non-stop, make the name "Ambient". ( I don't know anymore names)

5th: It should say in the bottom corner, how many frames you have. Put that number in like so.

6th: Then you have to decide if you want it to cycle. Meaning repeat the animation after it is triggered. Non-stop. If you typed in Ambient as the name, you will need it to cycle. Click on cycle until the check mark appears into the box next to it.
7th: Once you are done, press ok. Then press ok again to export the model. Name it what you want.

My computer is a Vista, and may look different then yours. If you have a Milkshape version lower than 1.8.2, download the 1.8.2 version to ensure that you have the same look, and options as mine.
Download to Version 1.8.2.

If you really even have to ask questions, ask, and I will hesitantly answer them.
Tell me if I left anything out.

The Middle Of Nowhere Shower.

Its the first build I have made for a long time out of boredom, and I also added some Hot/Cold water choices.

Pictures.

A happy man waiting for his shower, next to his jeep, preparing to cleanse himself.

The happy man reads the sign in satisfaction.

He then turns the shower on on the hot setting with steam.

He is still happy with the normal cold water... strangely.

Before leaving the shower, he then finishes his final business...

View from above.

Above view 2.

A couple more things are added.

A billboard of a post-card that you can send to your wife friends.

Don't forget to mail a postcard. Also don't forget to attach a picture of you in the shower...

Well, I hope you enjoyed the build. You may rate the build from 1-10 out of 10.
This was just a fun little build... so nothing special.

Games / Onslaught 2.1
« on: April 14, 2008, 07:03:17 PM »
Onslaught 2.1

Onslaught is a simple Tower defense game with upgradeable turrets.
There are rocket turrets, machine gun turrets, laser turrets, etc.

When Upgrading.

When you upgrade, you get to select 3 different properties to upgrade.
Properties:
  -Damage
-Damage is the amount of pain inflicted on an enemy unit.
  -Range
-Range is how much sight, or how far a turret can shoot. It will show the range in the circle around it.
  -Rate
-Rate is how fast the turret shoots.

Enemies.

There are many strange enemies you will face. There are only a few different. The enemies are not alway different.
Enemy Pictures:
???

Printer

Bug

Starship

Car?

Star

Eyeball

Spaceship.

(I might have missed one)
You might have noticed the numbers above the Enemy heads. This is how much life they have.
100=Full, 0=Dead.
There may be different enemies, but nine have special looks. They all are the same, but with different looks.

Turrets.

There are many turrets in the game. Some you unlock later on.
Rocket Turret:
Shoots rockets. Has a wide range.

Laser Turret:
Shoots laser beams. Has a more normal range.

Cannon Turret:
Shoots cannon ball like bullets. Has a pretty ok range.

Tazer Turret:
Shoots electrical beams. Good damage, tiny range.

There are many other turrets to unlock. Some enhance a turrets range if close enough.

Combinations.

You can combine turrets to get special abilities.
Heres a list of combinations you can make with the 4 turrets I showed you:
http://onslaught.playr.co.uk/about.combos.html
To make a combination give you a special ability....
-The turrets you place must be beside each other. They can not be far away, they have to be right next to each other.
-When you have all the turrets next to each other for the combination, you also have to have each turret's Damage, Range, and Rate to its max. (It will say max. You'll be able to tell)
-If your combo doesn't seem to be working, just wait a little while. Some usually take a long time. Such as the nuke.

There are many other features to the game. Like you can make maps. Its very simple.
Just go to "Map Tools", and click "Create New Map"
Try this game. Its a good game for an all nighter, or boredom..

Games / Toribash.
« on: April 06, 2008, 06:46:57 PM »
Toribash.

Toribash is a Single Player and Multi player game.

This is a gif of a guy humping a wall... and his own head.

This one is of the Wind Mill mod.

The main objective of the game is to do the most damage to the other player. Or to mess around.
It has mods you can use such as swords and hand-saws.

Do the tutorial before anything else. You will need to. Its a complex game once you start playing it for the first time.
I suggest you play single player before multi player. The people on multi player will make you wish you never played the game. Ever.

To move your player, you pick either to Hold, Relax, Contract, or exstend joints. You can also grab the other player or yourself.

There are many maps. Just try it out. I played it once and now I'm addicted. :D

I need to know how to make you lose an item once you throw it.
I also need to know how to make it, that if you touch the projectile of the thrown item, then you pick it up, and it will disappear.

Modification Help / How to make projectile follow player?
« on: April 02, 2008, 04:42:04 PM »
Basically if I were to shoot toward a player, if it came close enough to the player, then it would go toward him.
Is this possible? If so, how?

Yes, this time I am serious. I'm not making a clan just because I think it looks cool to have a clan. I made it for the sake of good add-ons and more fun in Blockland for this clan. This clan is going to my final one.

I was working on something a long time ago, and finally found where my computer hides the screen shots. I only have one because I lost the save and only got one screen shot of it.
I was wondering, since some people were working on this with me, if anyone had the save. I don't have it anymore.. so.. yeah.

Details:
-Store in the back on the picture.
-A Slamwhich house.
-There was a hill with buildings on them.. but I'd need the save file.

Again, I was working on this some time ago. So it may not be the greatest.

The wrench events don't have a file saved, so when I have a server up, you can save the events there.

Rate, comment, and ask questions if you want.
Also, if there are any error with the map or Hover Jeep, inform me.
