Looks pretty plain and boring, everything is the same 2 colors (which are pretty close to each other in itself), and everything is level, no terrain at all.

Pretty lazy, really.
yeah i tried to do something that the community can easily do, which in turn they could. so in my eyes, its successful.

freakishly awesome except for the fact that NO GODDAMN TERRAIN JESUS CHRIST WHAT WAS IN YOUR MIND WHEN YOU LAID OUT THE CITY.
they obviously had bulldozers and domestic grass back then. duh.
also i don't really like how its a square-walled town. seems pretty limiting and unrealisticish
players are only supposed to see the city from the streets: it doesnt feel that odd then.

General Discussion / Re: Collaborative Medieval City [Sponsored by SPO]

Spot on. There's no way a medieval town would have such beautifully consistent (what I assume to be) plastered walls and tiled roofs.

Sorry Pass, even the walls strike me as some kind of non-functional decorated restoration as opposed to an actual means to keeping machines of war at bay.
not my fault that the town is a utopia in a fantasy lands where wars don't exist >:(

  INFO
So basically, every now and then, SPO is going to host a theme collaborative build, that anyone can join and pitch in on the build. At the moment, we are doing a SPO Castle themed city, which will be released as a Mafia Madness and other gamemodes. Once finished, the build will be released on the forums for you also to do whatever you want with it. To help, join my server (Pass' Collaborative Build) and ask to help. If you are someone who can be trusted, trust will be given and you can start making your own build.

 RULES
  • Stick to the theme. Buildings off-theme will get deleted.
  • Use 6x2x3 blocks for brick texture.
  • Do not add things like markets or wells: these will be handled by the supervisors.
  • Don't be a richard and go and grief it over-night. Seriously, don't.
  • Build in the walls, unless you are making duplications of things.
  • Be brick conservative.
  • Stick to the color-code.
  • To make doors unenterable, turn off the raycasting on the door.
  • Unenterable buildings must have blacked out windows and unenterable doors.
  • Only use the first 4 rows in the paint set.
  • Don't complain that I need to get more brick packs: we're keeping it default for easy downloading.
Rules are subject to change at any time.

 BRICKS OF HONOR
Bricks of honor are awards given to builders that contributed a lot or have built quality things.
  • Jitank
  • Blok
  • Vapryx
  • The Brighter Dark
  • Paradon
  • Wink
  • Shortcut
  • Mr.Nobody
  • Kickflow

Pictures of the build so far:

Happy Building!

it may just be me but i really hate it when people advertise their city RPs with "drugs" on their title like its a badge of quality.

True, but we can contain it.
your version of the 'community' is the same constant 50 people that occasionally post on these forums. the active forum-goers are probably only 1/20th of the entire blockland community.
go and join some server, press f2. i doubt more than 2 people at the server are on the forums unless its some popular server with 30 people in it.

Cool beans, but a suggestion i have would be to make the zombie spawns cooldown a bit. Nothing more frustrating than taking down a group of zombies only for them to respawn a couple seconds later. Try and have them spawn in more logical areas like the towns more often and than have them migrate away to other parts of the map. Like add a pathfinding system where a mob of zombies walks about the map at random times or somthing.

Still, good work thus far. You guys really do seem invested in this project enough to not let it die
the zombies despawn once they wander out of a 64x radius of a player. if you want zombies to stop chasing you, run away.

i'll talk to wrap about the respawn time.

General Discussion / Re: Medieval RPG

i think we need a substitute for drpg. the kind of rpg that promotes people working together and battling others in groups.
of course, to have people build their own stuff, that means public bricks, and that means you cant ever reset the server cause then the ownership gets messed up. someone would have to break public bricks so it doesnt matter what baseplate its on, its always their bricks.
an of course, a new mod.
also, if you want people building their own stuff, its probably best made with modter since you can build inside of it and stuff.

drpg was good in the beginning days until the mod got out and it was hosted so frequently that i couldnt decide which one to join. i think thats the reason the mod was meant to be private, not for greed. so if a mod is made for a medieval rpg like this, its best kept private or else it will loose its own pzazz.

Exactly.

It's stupid how everyone suddenly assumes it's someone DDOS'ing the server. Perhaps Ephialtes decided to do some updating, or the server went down for technical reasons? something more reasonable then someone attacking the servers.
DDOS attacks are a lot more frequent than updates or technical reason. it would be more logical to assume a DDOS.
even though badspot did say in another topic it was a DDOS.

we're up and running! come and play!
at first joining, you will be booted saying you need to download a GUI. download it, install it as a regular addon then restart blockland. rejoin the server after that, and you shouldnt be booted!
