Games / Xbox 360 - Borderlands Co-op Party
« on: June 18, 2012, 09:28:35 PM »
I'm getting psyched about Borderlands 2 coming out September 18, and I want to replay Borderlands just to remember what I've been missing, but maybe with an actual party this time, as opposed to mostly single player last time. If you have an Xbox Live Gamertag, and Borderlands, post your GT and I'll send you a message to confirm it's you. I'm really looking forward to Borderlands 2, so I'm hoping to get some responses. My Gamertag: "Grande Dorito".

Off Topic / What would you do if today was your last day alive?
« on: May 20, 2012, 02:15:52 PM »
If you had only today (assuming you start at morning/waking), what would you do with your last day alive?

I'd just look to see if any of the massive amount of unfinished business I had could be tied up.

BEST SO FAR:
- set things straight with my foes
- tell my loved ones
- go meet a celebrity (hey, forget you - im going to die)
- rent out a restaurant to myself and said celebrity
- die while eating meal
   - free meal

Off Topic / Droid X pooped out on me
« on: April 29, 2012, 04:18:44 PM »
So, I've been using my Android Droid X for about a year now, never had any problems, ran fine, etc. Just a few days ago, it did a system update and went to a screen that said something like this:

BOOTLOADER
30.04                                                               (<guessing it's the firmware version number)

Low Battery
Cannot Reprogram

Anyone with experience using Android platforms or roots could definitely help out. :U
NOTE: I have not tried rooting, flashing, or further unlocking my phone, it did this on its own.

Games / BORDERLANDS: PART DEUX RELEASE: SEP 18
« on: February 27, 2012, 04:00:06 PM »

Quote
Borderlands 2 builds upon the gameplay elements introduced in its predecessor. It is a first-person shooter that includes character-building elements found in role-playing games, leading Gearbox to call the game a "role-playing shooter". At the start of the game, players select one of four new characters, each with a unique special skill and with proficiencies with certain weapons. From then on, players take on quests assigned through non-player characters or from bounty boards, each typically rewarding the player with experience points, money, and sometimes a reward item. Players earn experience by killing foes and completing in-game challenges (such as getting a certain number of kills using a specific type of weapon). As they gain levels from experience growth, players can then allocate skill points into a skill tree that features three distinct specializations of the base character.
Returning gameplay features from the first game will include the unique, cartoon-esque cel-shading graphic style, 3-branch skill trees, class-mods, and four-player online cooperative modes. New features include a more expansive and customizable weapons system, reworked four-seat drift-able vehicles and vehicle physics elements, and dynamic quest systems. For example, taking too much time to save a friend in a quest may result in their death and the failure of the quest, which will affect the story as the player progresses. Technically, the game world will be all connected, rather than loadable levels for each region, allowing accurate viewing of the entire world from a given point rather than the first game's premade "Skybox".
In addition, the AI system has been reworked for the game. Non-enemies will populate the game world more often and will travel around different locations depending on the time. Enemy AI will encourage teamwork, such as flanking, as well as taking cover when wounded, though lower level enemies like Psychos will still embrace the mentality of, "Wow that's a gun! I want my face in front of it," according to Gearbox VP Steve Gibson. Shooting enemies will stun or cripple them depending on where they are shot. For a change, enemies will be intelligent enough to climb and traverse difficult terrain to pursue the player. Enemies will also be able to interact with each other. For example, certain enemies can heal their teammates, boost their shields for defense, or use them as shields to protect themselves.

Off Topic / In real war...

In real war, perks are a pension, bonus, and six month leave.

In real war, everyone's accuracy rating is .0001%.

In real war, the skull and crossbones over dead teammates are only in your mind, but they stay there forever.

Carry the torch!

Creativity / Short Story
« on: February 20, 2012, 07:00:05 PM »
So, this is my short story I began writing in Creative Writing for a class assignment. It began with a Minecraft theme, but I removed some of the wording that makes it obvious, and made it more general low-fantasy. Tell me what you think.

THE GOOGLE DOCS LINK

Yes, you can comment, I expect plenty of stuffposts, but try and keep it civil, at least. It was too long to post the full story in, anyways.

EDITEDIT: Ok, I expect ANY posts, maybe, ever.

Off Topic / House Resolution 1540 (National Defense Authorization Act)
« on: January 06, 2012, 10:33:28 AM »
In the recent hubbub over SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act), there is a bill that has been relatively overlooked, and needs intense scrutiny by literally everyone. House resolution 1540 is, in short, a bill authorizing the US Government to detain indefinitely any American citizen deemed "a terrorist candidate", without trial or court, and able to be captured in or outside the United States. It seems like the focus was moved to SOPA in an attempt to get this glossed over, and either way, it seems to be working. Here are some links to some relavent sites, and the main bill:

Me? I think this could have serious sway, and should be given just as much attention as SOPA.

Off Topic / Graphic design inspiration needed (!)

So in my current graphic design class, we're working with Photoshop, and I've already made two or three decent images, but I am completely lost on any ideas for what the next one should be. Serious and silly suggestions are all considered, not taken.

The first one, making fun of Apple while loving Bloo:

The second, a quick mockup of a new logo for from dust: (yes it's terrible I know)
