Off Topic / Re: Is there any kind of phobia of buzzing insects?
« on: April 16, 2013, 12:10:08 PM »
I was just curious because if their is I'm pretty sure I have it, I can't get near wasps, locusts or any insects that have a buzzing sound.

Also I heard Cicada's are going to be popular this year, forget.
i have no phobias but this one. and it's bad in my area. :(

it's funny, because they've just corporately employed what the internet already does: offend the most people to get the most attention, and polarize people to both your side and the opposition. you guys act like it's a novel thing. it's not. we did it first.

the only thing badspot would even bother with if literally everyone on the forum asked him to and bribed him, is a one line signature with like 8 pt font. even then he'd hate it.

it'd be pretty cool, according to some users.

for those of the less capable amongst us, that was a joke reference, a jesting comment made to remind someone of something.

LOLk.
See, the problem with this argument is that it forgets that there are hundreds, if not thousands, of religions, all of which say I have to follow their god in order to gain, and if I follow another god, I lose. There is no way to know which one of these to choose, as they all present the same in terms of evidence - none. And once I have made my choice, I am still losing in the view of all the other religions. You could argue that choosing one religion from random has a very slightly higher chance of a "win" than atheism, but then you have to argue why I should choose your religion over any of the countless others, which is absolutely not what Pascal's Wager is about.
When you use an argument that is a few hundred years old, keep in mind that the refutations are also a few hundred years old. Almost every atheist has heard this argument
aka "leaving so I can't see why I'm wrong"
Though people who say this usually return anyways
as well, to say "well, there's this religion and if i only stand to lose my not believing in it, i better believe in it", is not only dishonest, it's against the entire point of the religion because someone who only kept to a religion for personal gain is no better than someone who didn't at all.

one of the arguments i hear getting used a lot is, if the entirety of the human race was entirely wiped out, all shreds of our knowledge, history, and experience destroyed, and a new species similar to us rose up, what would they find out? they'd rediscover fire, the wheel, social structures, communication. physics, chemistry, aerodynamics. but our story, of a guy getting strung up on wood by a bunch of pagans, would be lost forever.

Age writing got overhauled in V0.10. You might want to check the BinaryMage wiki or Direwolf20's spotlight.

I'm not really a Jew since my mom is Lutheran and my dad is Jewish; and in Jewish law, if only one parent is a Jew; only your mother can be a Jew for you to be considered Jewish, and my mom isn't Jewish. I like to be classified as a Jew though as I relate to the culture, I like our history, I like the traditions, and it's very sophisticated from my eyes. I am an Atheist though, but wanting to preserve Judaism.

You could just say I am a ultra-liberal Jew.
inuits can't be jewish, simple as that. no matter how white you may be.

etalyx is a good small commentator, he does basically exclusively indie productions that he handpicks, i've always had good luck with him.

everyone but this man
Umm.. I think Sins of a Solar Empire was like that. It's been a while since I've played it, but it's pretty much an RTS where you have to take over solar systems and colonize them to get resources.
is a lying sunofabitch. it's not free, but it's worth every penny.
