I think they were different but proposed very close to each other.

How do I allow minecraft to use more memory? I've gotten like 10 out of memory errors today, and I've tried to make that batch file that everyone talks about, but it never works, it always says "javaw is not recognized as an internal or external command."

honestly? if you want a workaround, download the Technic launcher and select vanilla under the modpack, it allows you to select the amount of memory you have if you have 64 bit OS Java.
