Our city did this last year.
We all went downtown to see the skyline go dark. Alot of the buildings failed to do this for an hour. Some were still on :/

Right now, a 1000 dollar tablet isnt really needed.
Maybe when you actually have a job go for something like this. Im pretty sure by then, they'll have something new and better. Just by a cheap one for now. Learn to look at your monitor. Although having a screen is convenient and pretty cool, you dont need it. Seriously.

Try putting some colums inside and maybe some elevated areas.
If you do elevate part of the floor, dont do it in the middle, itll just look like a boxing ring.
