« on: July 06, 2015, 12:22:34 PM »I still think they should have given cactus armor a small thorns set bonus instead of extra defence.But thats the point, I want to receive damage, hence why I have the Paladin's Shield. Out of my friends, I am the tank, I'm supposed to take boat loads of damage, I have two buddies who does mage, one focusing on healing prowess and the other on DPS. We also have a ranged guy, and then one of my other buddies is also a tank, but he is built to deal damage.
Beetle is just all around better. The passives from both chest plates are good. Sure, turtle has the 100% thorns bonus, but when you are in hardmode you don't WANT to receive damage on purpose.
We're playing hardmode Expert right now and so far it hasn't been an issue when facing bosses, but I'm still torn.

I can't decide between the beetle armor or turtle armor. I have the turtle armor and its incredibly nice as a tank because any damage that gets inflicted on me is also inflicted upon the attacker before my defense, and with a paladins shield that also means any damage my companions take I receive, which therefore mitigates the damage back at the enemy. The beetle armor has significantly more defense and it looks cooler.
I'm still thinking of just keeping turtle armor, right now my defense is 82.

sometimes its best to just let stuff crash. the us is going to do it eventually here. we cant fake it forever.

Turtle Armor is incredibly useful as a tank because you're more likely to be targeted when wearing it, so having a lot of health and defense is good especially when your friends can pound the boss.
The only other two things better than Turtle Armor is Solar Flare Armor and Beetle Armor. If you're gonna be a tank, the easiest endgame armor is Turtle Armor, the most difficult is Solar Flare, which is also incredibly good.

i mean if you get super-great yoyos like the Terrarian, then yes it can forget up the wall of flesh no problem.
