Off Topic / Re: The Impromptu Show (again)
« on: November 20, 2010, 05:31:17 PM »
I am going to bump this topic because guess what.

We're doing it for real, for sure, no doubt this time.

I can safely say a show will be tonight (at 8 EST to 10 EST) because we've already set and troubleshoot (shot?) everything a day or two in advance to the night of the broadcast, making this 100% foolproof.

If you want to listen in or call, simply download skype and add impromptushow.

Hope you listen!

The lighting and angles bit was lacking due to the fact that I really didn't have the want for such things at the time.

I just wanted to sit down, and make a quick short film from scratch, ad-libbed.

If I ever have time (and or budget) to think about things like lighting or camera rigs (have been thinking of making a dolly and a crane for a long time now). Also note: I used the mic on the camera for this too, so the sounds not that great either.

Oh, and thank you for having such low expectations? lol

If it does, then it wasn't intentional. There was a movie called The War Room, however this was simply a play on the fact that they're (I'm) playing Risk.

What, that I played games with myself? lol

Nah, it was a really abstract idea that I just sort of went with, putting on friend's shirts and pretending that they're there.

All of this was fleshed out as I went, and I think I even shot the pizza roll scene first before the rest.

Funny where my mind takes me.

The point was that my character was delusional. It was obvious that I was choking myself because I wanted it to be that way.

If you did or didn't know about my obsession with movies, now you do. You might also be surprised to know that I make short films in real life, not just Blockland. This is one of those films.

The spiritual sequel to Kurt Gets Cereal, made after the film with the same name, Kurt and Matt left their shirts over after they had brought them in case of an emergency re-shoot for continuity.

Clearly the best course of action was to wear each of their shirts and then play each of them respectively. I just now decided to edit.

Note, this is the high quality but standard (4:3) definition. However it has widescreen (16:9) letterboxes. This was a choice of mine because I didn't feel like waiting for rendering and upload time.

This was really one of those spur of the moment, "I don't care about camera angles" kind of film. I made something short and, in my eyes, witty.

I hate Big Smoke with every last god damn fiber in my loving being.

Oh my god. I nearly cried when that twist was thrown at me.

I had trusted him with my life in that game, because I had been so encompassed with everything (the sandbox element, etc) it literally took me years of on and off story playing to beat it. So, this character who I now had almost "grown up with" was betraying me.

I had the hardest time with that game. lol

The only problem with our progress was that there wasn't any.

When we first announced it, it got a lot of good publicity, which was great, but it was also a lot for us to do and we were both relatively new and inexperienced with it.

Once the project had been in the "pre-production" phase for a bit, people started getting anticipated but weren't seeing results, as we were overwhelmed.

So, when at long last we had accumulated what we needed and started shooting, we had a hell of a time getting everything set right, getting actors who weren't total ass-tards, and all around lining up the scenes with the original movie. This part took up mostly the third year of it's initial announcement, and you could imagine how sick of it we were by then.

Upon releasing the footage though, a giant swarm of views and applications came in through Youtube and the forums. Warren and I were getting at least one PM a week asking to join the project, and we just were too busy setting up the rest of the stuff to get with them all. In the end though, with the added pressure and the constant nagging for completion, we decided on a hiatus.

Now, give a year later, and Warren's had major hardware failures since then. All of the raw footage of the first ten minutes you now see on Youtube is gone. Given that added to the already going hiatus, we figured it was about time to just go away for a little bit. We were still being pestered and we didn't even have a leg to stand on any more. So, on a sorrow note, I locked the original topic and let it die into ambiguity of the back-logs.

tl;dr, or, long story short: it's our project and our love-child. It's not dead nor will it be anytime soon. If it were to be handed over to another for completion, then it'd be by us, not through your asking.
