I message them an ask if I know them.
If the response is "No" or anything similar I reject the request.

Kinda annoying. I deal with this daily.
I swear they are just collecting friends as if it's Facebook or something..

My same problem.  They randomly pop up at the bottom of my screen and I try to recognize the name but if I can't, I ask who the person is.  If not recognized (or they quit), I just decline them.

He's about 200 feet from the car when it pauses. He was about 400 feet from the driver when he SHOULD have started to move his foot to the brake. The other side of the road was entirely clear, he could have easily used that to go around the driver if he had started to turn at the point in the video where he'd started to move his foot.

I'm a person who regularly drives fast. Very fast. With increased speed you need to increase road awareness. When driving the speed limit you may be able to get away with driving mindlessly, but that ability fades very quickly as speed increases. When I'm driving 80mph above the speed limit, I've got both hands gripping the wheel, sitting up straight, while constantly looking for a reason to hit the brakes as fast as I can. A person that may be turning in front of me on a single lane road is justification to slow down to a much more reasonable speed. After all, not every driver can tell you're going as fast as you really are.

Again, accidents happen from careless driving, not fast driving.

Laws are in place for a reason.

In the video though, he looks to be < 100 feet from the car when it pauses.

Other factors must be considered too, as no situation is equal. This includes but is not limited to:

Road condition
Driver awareness for both cars
Condition of car's steering/brakes (in some cases, model year may be a factor)
Distance between the two cars
Speed
Driver's skill

If these conditions are less than favorable, accident chances greatly increase.

Don't speed, boys and girls.

BTW when I drive, I always wear my seat belt and abide by speed limits. I don't pull out unless I see the whole road and it is definitely empty for a good amount of space in comparison to relative speed of other cars.
