the worst pain is when they stab the roof of your mouth with anesthetic. After that it's pretty okay. For me it was just time consuming because they somehow couldn't find my goddamn tooth for a good 20 minutes just digging around back there.

What freaks me out is that you were apparently still awake and aware of what was going on. I'd want to be completely knocked out.

Its not like she she can do anything about it lol.

Actually she could. She could not outright fire me for that reason, but she could give me the boot for any other reason she can come up with. My dad was fired once because he was injured on the job and his boss had to pay out workers compensation for a surgery. My dad went back to work after a recovery and just a few days later, they fired him because he was five minutes late after never being late before that.

contact someone higher than your manager, is there some district manager you can contact?

I could easily contact the district manager because we have her number up on the wall and I know her name, but she is downright scary. My general manager goes to measures to avoid her and she recently yelled at a girl who briefly paused during a short break between drive thru cars to look at the first new falling snow of the year.
