"Sniper Rifle" is the best sniper IMO.

It's good because there's no tradeoff of anything; just a simple long-cooldown rifle that kills in one hit. The simple design makes players have to develop some pretty pro aim-adjustment skills and makes one-on-one encounters highly stressful as one mistake = death, however temporary it may be.

This so much. Nothing can ever replace the fun had in sniper DMs using the good ol' sniper rifle.
