Dotdot is right. It's fun to customize and once you start you never stop.
And even if you come a computer master, you can create your own distro.

I still need some help deciding, anyone?

Why should I use Ubuntu instead of another type?
Ubuntu is the easiest way of using Linux.

When was the last time you seen a virus on linux? Yeah, hardly ever.
Not trying to be dismissive, but use Ubuntu if you want to use linux.

Mint has like three different versions with different desktop environments. Cinnamon (I think it's called, haven't used it), MATE, and probably Unity.
You can download a desktop environment whenever you want. sudo apt-get install kde xcfe4 cinnamon unity, whatever

I'd get XUbuntu.
Does that "sudo" whatever the hell that means magic need an internet connection or what?

I have Linux Mint on a laptop. I personally prefer Mint over Ubuntu and its variants but that's just me.
Call me unhuman, but I just don't like the look of mint. It just looks too bland.
@steve
Yeah, since i've been Xubuntu for I don't even know i'll probably just go with that.
