Suggestions & Requests / Articles Section
« on: March 08, 2010, 08:26:10 PM »
I have seen many sites implement an articles section on the main site, or as a child board on their forums. It's basically a place where people write articles about a particular subject, or even about random ideas. On-topic subjects could include things like 'Color Theory for Builds', 'Brick Measurement Theory', etc. I really like to read people's opinions, thoughts, and wisdom, so I think that it would be an interesting place to 'chill'.

Forum Games / Mafia Sign Up
« on: March 05, 2010, 12:39:40 AM »
Mafia

I was reading through Wikipedia and saw a related article pertaining to this game and thought that it would be fun to play on a forum.

The game needs at least six people, and I think that it should have a limit of sixteen players. If the player count comes to an odd number, the last user to sign up will be booted from the current game.

How to play:

This is my interpretation of the game, if people actually play I will create a new game that has more of the things that people suggest.

There are two opposing teams in which players are randomly assigned, the Mafia and the Townspeople. If you don't get on a team that you want, then there probably will be another game eventually.

When the game has officially started, I will PM you what team you are assigned to, no complaints or bad attitudes. If you are on the Mafia, I will PM you the list of Mafia members that you will be working with. Townspeople are in the dark on who their teammates are. If you aren't in the Mafia, don't PM me.

The meat of the game is actually pretty simple, but can take some interesting keen brown townytical skills for both teams.

Once the game has started, the gameplays' framework stems off of two states that the game is always in, the Daytime or the Nighttime.

To balance out the teams, the Mafia userbase will be much smaller than that of the Townspeople's.

Nighttime: The time when the Mafia members operate. This is in secret and must not be shared with the townspeople due to the fact that the mafia members will get executed.

Every Mafia member PMs me a username who is on the Townspeoples' team to assassinate. If more than half of the members agree to assassinate one townsperson, it will be done. In the daytime, I will post the dead Townsperson. If you are assassinated, then too bad. You're out of the game.

Townspeople may not participate in this process.

Once I have received all the votes from the Mafia members, and a Townsperson has been slaughtered, then the Nighttime is officially over.

Daytime: This is where the townspeople shine, yet they can initiate their own doom if they aren't careful.

When the Daytime is initiated, I will post in the thread that it has started. After I post, people will vote on a person to execute whom they are suspicious of being in the Mafia. A reason is always good. Note that you post in the thread your debate and not in PM. The Mafia also has a role in this, considering that they try to obfuscate the decisions to kill the Townspeople's own teammates.

Feel free to post in the daytime to try to come to a decision. If nobody can agree, I will pick the most talked about user and they will be executed, so try to work as a team and not just stuffpost.

Other Comments:

To lose, either side has to have no more players left, in which I will announce the winning team.

In game, feel free to privately contact other members no matter what team you are on to come to a smart decision. Strategy is the key.

Note how this is not the gameplay thread, this is just the initialization topic to plan out the time schedule for the Night and Daytimes for all players.

People signed up:

To sign up, just post you want in and I will add you to the list. Signing up is on a first come-first serve basis, so if the game is popular, be sure to sign up quickly! I am the only game moderator.

Lastly, I would ask you to please not spoil the game and tell others what side people are on, that's no fun. If you want to quit, then just PM me and I will get you executed in the Daytime. I would also ask you to keep random posts to a minimum in the game playing thread. This includes non-players. Also, no made up crap, its a game, play by the rules.

If this thread dies and no one appears to want to play, then I count this as a failed attempt. At least I tried  ;)

If you don't understand a concept or would like to add, just post and I will be sure answer. TL;DR'ers get out. Thanks for your time!

Games / GTA II
« on: February 17, 2010, 07:25:48 PM »
Yep, thats right, that awesome game from 1999. Rockstar generously released GTA one and two for free (yea, its old news).

I actually found this years ago, but at the time I couldn't download.
(lol'd)
this dude got owned. cops are pretty smart...

I find this game to be more enjoyable than all of the newer, 3d ones. I am only about thirty minutes into it and have already laughed a whole bunch because the game is actually funny. The controls are right, and the gameplay is awesome. A must get for everyone. Yes, its a sandbox game.

I really like how you can choose which gangs you want to be in via respect and missions. Its great.

You can pick it up here for free.

I haven't tried the first one, but I have heard that number two was better all around.

Getting the game is simple: put in bullstuff information and then check the email that you inputed into the info box. No one wants spam.

Off Topic / Do you know a programming language
« on: February 09, 2010, 10:20:24 PM »
Do you know any programming languages? There is barely any talk about programming on the forums, and I am just curious.

My programming background would include C and C++, Assembly, and some PHP.

Do you have a programming background?

The entire first season is on youtube.

Do you think that Blockland would ever have a 64 bit client that could utilize 64 bit processing power? I think that it would super useful.

Quoted from a different forum, though I can't post a link to the original topic, due to the fact that I may be banned.
Quote
The Gomez PEER is a secure, Java-based application that runs in the background of your PC. You may even forget it's there, because it will not disrupt the way you use your computer.

Using advanced, peer-to-peer distributed computing technology, the Gomez PEER combines the spare capacity of PCs around the world to measure the performance of Web sites. After you install the Gomez PEER, it will periodically communicate with Gomez servers via the Internet, signal that it's available for work, and request a work unit. And you will be credited for your online time and work processed approximately every 15 minutes that the application is running.

Based on your computer's characteristics (Internet connection type, geographic location and Internet service provider), your PC will receive instructions to autonomously test the performance of Web sites — gathering important metrics that help identify network bottlenecks and performance problems. All of this happens "behind the scenes," even when you're away from your PC or asleep. Finally, your PC will send its results back to Gomez, where they are added to the work of thousands of other PCs around the world.

The Gomez PEER is available for Windows 2000/NT/XP/2003.

How much does it pay?

This the current rate schedule for the Gomez PEER program. For the definitions for any of the terms shown here, please consult the glossary. These rates are subject to change in accordance with the current terms of service. Your earnings may not reach the maxiumum amount shown.
Online Time Payments (per day) $0.10
Processing Time Payments (per min.) $0.0005
Referral Bonus (per Active Referral) $1.00
Min. Monthly Payment $5.00
Max. Earnings per month $45.00
End of Cycle 2009-07-31

NOTE: These are the regular rates. Using the crack you will be able to make more than x10 times more money. does not apply for the blockland forums
YOU CAN ALSO USE THE SAME ACCOUNT ON DIFFERENT COMPUTERS

Does it really pay?
Yes it really pays
here is proof of payment:
-- Thank you Snufflez

Does it work on VISTA?
1. Make GomezPeer account

4. Boot up in safe mode (Press F8 while booting to get safe mode option)
5. Extract the crack to Unrar the crack in C:\Program Files\Gomez\GomezPEER\jre\lib\ext
6. Wait until finish
7. Restart PC normally
8. Download Launcher and unrar both files to a folder on desktop (I named mine GomezPeer Crack)

Creativity / Badspot + Photoshop
« on: February 01, 2010, 09:43:58 PM »
I was bored and decided to do a pseudo painting about Badspot. First I used some filters to make the face easy to distinguish, then I started on the painting, repainting, and smudging. This, in no way, is complete, but I posted this to see your thoughts and suggestions. Dont forget that there will be a background. Thanks.

Off Topic / Small Windows Project Ideas
« on: January 27, 2010, 09:10:29 PM »
*welp* Well, I am creating this thread to acquire some ideas of Windows projects to make.

I know a good amount C (and C++ too, but I think that I'm going to stick with C code for this application) and have decided on undertaking learning the Win32 API. Since the entire thing is somewhat complicated, I think that it would be best to start out slowly by creating small programs then later getting into more complicated things like the Sockets API, OpenGL, etc.

I can't think of anything to develop at the moment, so I probably wrongly posted this thread to inquire the forums if anybody had any ideas for small things that I could make. Thanks.

Small Fort <WIP>:

It's old and destroyed, though I probably wont finish this build.
