Games / Re: Starbound Megathread - Low resolution racism!

Defending the attitude of "why should we, the developers of our game, do work improving our game when the community can do it for us" is so appallingly stupid, I'm not even going to dignify that with a rebuttal.
Not sure if you took that the right way. They aren't completely ignoring it forever. They're getting framework done, THEN working on content. As I've stated, the current content of the game is mostly placeholder.

those storage lockers down there
64 forgetin slots of space
why the forget dont existing storage items ever have more than 16 slots of space (with the exception of the ship locker), there is no way in hell that could possibly be a difficult fix to make unless you're so incompetent you made it difficult back when you were coding them in the first place
A majority of the game's content is placeholder content for testing the game, as well as keeping the general community mostly satisfied with little-to-no work. They could make storage containers with varying space easily, but they choose to focus themselves on more important things. Especially since the community could easily fix these things themselves.

I wouldn't trust Sega with Megaman. I mean, the Genesis game's music...
Then you look at like, every single other frikken Sega game the music is amazing.

Whenever I come across avian villages, I never have to worry about food.

Ever.

 :cookieMonster:
In the current state of the game, I hope no one ever has to worry about food.

i don't mind it really. then again someone is correct in saying it's designed for kids like me soo...
Hate to be 'one of those 90s kids' but 'kids games' back when I was a youngin were challenging. This is just a grind.

Suggestions & Requests / Re: No player collision

How do you resize a collision box, is it just a variable you set in the player type file?
Yes.

It's not the actual word that matters.
It's the intentions.

Add-Ons / Re: Color Events - onColorChange and setSameColor
« on: June 18, 2014, 08:31:59 AM »
I thought there was no good way to get the brick that triggered the input event from any target but Self? Both setPlayerTransform and VCE tried to do this, and for the most part it worked, but when multiple events are going off at once, it can screw up and change the input event brick.
I can't download to see how you've done it atm.
onColorChange sets a $lastInputBrickColor variable.
setSameColor sets all the bricks with that name to $lastInputBrickColor.

General Discussion / Re: Applying for Admin
« on: June 18, 2014, 08:27:04 AM »
but now we're getting into the realm of the kind of friends you make.
Refer to my prior list, and I can point out all of their strong spots-
The kind of friends I make happen to not like Blockland, so that doesn't really help.
And while your friends seem to be useful, I've been on plenty of servers where the hosts' friends weren't.
It's always going to be the 'realm of the kinds of friends the host makes' if the host just admins all their friends.

Quote
the point I'm trying to make here, is that I am WAY more willing to give a friend admin, over someone I have never met before who just happens to have a lot of recommendations and can type a paragraph. Snaked_Snake can do that, and I sure as hell wouldn't admin him.
Oh of course. Admin applications are far worse than just tossing the power to all your friends.

I've been given admin on a lot of servers simply because I'm a good admin though. Don't need to be friends or do some stupid application.

Suggestions & Requests / Re: Guns With Customizable Attachments
« on: June 18, 2014, 08:16:54 AM »
Is there any way to make the player hold a playertype with mounts?
Right, that's a thing. You could just make a player datablock shaped like a gun, with all the nodes and animations you want.

Oh?

<OmnipotentEntity> well, a quest dialog shouldn't be key dismissable for instance, right?
<kyren_> the only thing I think that even uses key dismissable is like
<OmnipotentEntity> you don't want to accidentally forget yourself out of a quest
<kyren_> right, I suppose so yeah
<kyren_> right
<kyren_> I forgot about quests
<kyren_> okay, well then the modal layer still has policy tied to it
<OmnipotentEntity> right
<kyren_> for modal windows
<OmnipotentEntity> I can't think of modal windows that you shouldn't be able to key dismiss
<kyren_> why don't we make quests modal windows

<kyren_> so I could just encode that into the layer
<kyren_> also
<kyren_> like, the quest dialog
<kyren_> should stay on top haha
<kyren_> so, maybe call it StickyWindows?

One of the things we discussed today was adding an AI “character” in each ship which would act as a new way to receive certain items, upgrade your ship, give you quests and help you out in general.

Through a series of quests you’re taught how to farm, find trophies in dungeons and build the beginnings of a settlement. Completing these quests will give you the pixels you need to use your ships 3d printer to produce a new fuel module. Which in turn allows progression to the other planets in your current solar system.

At this stage were introducing a new planet type called an outpost. A small and safe planet populated by members of every race. A safe haven for trade and quest taking. You’ll learn how to generate pixels through selling crops, taking quests, selling trophies found in dungeons and renting out houses in your settlement.

On the other hand, if you prefer to be an adventurer, taking quests and gaining pixels as rewards.

Monsters, quests and events will be strong enough to be challenging even with the best tools in the game.
