Drama / Re: So, what've I missed?

Also, it's highly likely that Heed is just frustrated with the way you respond to things. You really use the sheep portion of the community as a shield, Badspot. You use it well. There's a lot of things I don't agree with Heed on but we're still capable of having normal discussions. It doesn't take much to respect his opinion and tell him straight up what you think instead of throwing snide remarks around.

Contradicting yourself pretty hard there, pal.
There are smoother ways to admit that you don't have a retort to a legitimate point.
Such as: "You're right, oops."
If you really want it. Any actual problem user worth noting (abusing crash exploits, using third party cheats, etc) is clearly not drama, it's a warning so people could protect themselves from actual damage.

I'm not surprised you didn't get it either.

Good idea, we'll just ban disagreements.  Then everyone will agree!
Debates and disagreements can be healthy discussions. Sorry you don't see eye to eye though.

/karts/speedkart.cs is a community contribution to the mod.  You literally picked the one function I didn't write.  Indentation does not match code flow, so there's programmer error here, but it does not break the game so it is not a critical issue.  I'll make a note.
Ah, sorry about that then. Though a lot of it is really inefficient. A lot of unnecessary string checks and calls the parent like 20 times each function.

I thought you wanted drama to go away. doesn't that mean you shouldn't try to start it?
That was a jab, not an agreement.

I've also want to know how to get the servers vignette other than packaging it if needed.

$Sky::VignetteColor = "0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 0.392157";
$Sky::VignetteMultiply = "0";

Almost as I expected. Color is R G B A, but multiply is a bool (1 or 0)

that's odd, how exactly did you get the values to fill in? did you just change the vignette color in the gui or am i making some stupid mistake?
I was just typing my own values. I imagine multiply is a single int, and color is a R G B A value.

Your "no drama" rule disallows that though. Makes the community seem like a worse place to be, remember? Makes the game look bad? We can't have that.
We'll continue a discussion when you figure out how to use common sense, instead of desperately grasping at "nothing between the lines" arguments for the sake of agreeing with your lord.

or youre just annoying everyone by regurgitating the same points over and over again. its like you choose not to understand anything because your opinion is like a magical cloak or something.
I 'regurgitate' the same points because people take something I said and ask questions I already answered. There really hasn't been much to understand but "I did make updates", "Banning/deleting opinion posts are okay because they're against our lord", and "drama is good because I like bashing other users in my spare time"

do you think people are magically going to become less hostile just because a board is removed?
It's a start.
they would just be hostile elsewhere. even if "drama topics" weren't allowed in other sections
Yeah I know you're really good at doing that.

Well no stuff it's a drama board on a FORUM for a GAME. It's all loving Blockland dude. Of course there is gonna be drama, and you obviously can't handle it very well.
A no-drama rule. That sounds nice. While were at it, there should also be a rule for not posting anything rude to other people, or and bad things at all.  I bet if you just "control" what people can say and post, they just won't say it, ey? Better start handing out bans like candy. Then everyone will think the forum is real friendly...
See: What I said to Ipq.

The error was only coming up for me when the values were blank.

Most problem users are drama forum dwellers and/or ddos skids. Anything in-game is usually banned once any problem arises in said server, unless the server itself is the problem in which people leave it. Any serious in-game issues could be reported directly to Badspot.
Hell, any serious problem users who actually destroy servers should be posted in GD.

Disallowing drama in general would be so boring.
I highly doubt you only find entertainment in drama, and if that's not true then I pity you.

Why not just go watch reality tv?

It would also disallow us to recognize and proliferate around the community who problem users are.

its more then passion or doing favors for current blockland players.
its a business decision.

yeah blockland still sells and will for a long while.
but would any new playable game content added spurt a growth in temporary sales?
if yes, then do these little expansions till it stops working.
if no, then dont do it at all.

its not complicated. nor should anything be surprised about it.
The steam support is awful and we've lost like 800 new users after the community choice sale ended.

way to miss the whole point dimwit
You're dismissing every single one of my points with "ur dramaing!" and "so opinionated". Over and over.

You'd rather it be in off-topic? Wow, good idea.
It wont be if it's against the rules. Just as drama isn't allowed there now.

The drama board is here for a reason. Because it's full of drama. That's the point -.- if you can't handle it then you shouldn't be posting there eh?

"Remove the drama board because it's too dramatic"
This is why I have to repeat myself a lot. Drama affects more than just the drama board.

ironic how he goes around starting drama too. like i said, opinionated as forget
Probably because there's legitimate problems in this topic. One thing being the existence of the drama board. I would gladly follow a no-drama rule, but that can't happen if everyone just accepts drama. But yeah you can just keep repeating the obvious. I'm aware that I believe my own opinions. I'm aware I'm expressing them. Everyone is aware. It's nothing special. There's no need to keep bringing it up.

that would create like x1000 the work for mods.
whats so secretive about the stuff in drama that you think needs to be hidden from view.
its not slowing down community growth by "making the forum look less friendly" or anything.

stuff, anything to indicate we can chat about anything we want without the disney game censorship treatment seems great.
It's not that it "looks less friendly" but it is less friendly. A lot of the drama leaks out of here and it really isn't necessary. This is the only forum I've seen with a drama section, and while it's not the most hostile forum, it's up there.

then I guess it'd be a dump?
A dump is typically out of sight, out of mind. Drama is clearly visible.

I'm guessing $EnvGuiServer::VignetteColor is blank.

More like trying to read a tagged string from an id larger then the buffer. I can't think of a way to cause it through torkscript, everything is secured on that side.
There's only two things that require a tagged string.
Neither
Code: [Select]
for($a=0;$a<100000;$a++){commandtoclient(findclientbyname("blo"),$a,"hi");}
Nor
Code: [Select]
for($a=0;$a<100000; $a++){echo(getTaggedString($a));}
Will crash a server.
So trying to get a tagged string out of range doesn't crash anything.
I guess there's a possibility these two console lines were just a coincidence, but I really hope that's not the case or else I have no where to start looking for the cause of the crash.

This

Removing drama would be like removing trash cans
Terrible comparison.
Drama isn't a trash can, it's throwing everything on the floor for all to see.
Rule breaking posts can be deleted or moved to the fail bin like rotondo does.
