Off Topic / Does anyone know of a service such as this?
« on: July 24, 2014, 04:56:43 PM »
I need a free service which I can use to indefinitely store files which can be accessed through a direct link and use http instead of https (like http://www.example.com/file.zip). I know this is a tall order, but if anyone knows of such a service, I'll be much obliged. :)

Yo! /title, basically; trying to improve my TorqueScript skills. I'll let you know if it's something I can't do. Also, don't ask for things that already exist, please. First come, first serve.

Here is where all of the scripts will be available for download: http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=263209.0

Requests:

Event Whitelisting (Bomb Kirby) - Complete!
Kill Logging (Sami2ss) - Removed
Set Paint Color (Georges) - Complete!
Unused/Used Bricks (Skig & The Brighter Dark) - Complete!
Vehicle Flip (Fastlex) - Complete!

BluetoothBoy's Scripts

This is a collection of scripts I have made either by request or just because I wanted to.
Support_Impact_Damage[v.3]

Applies impact damage applied to players upon vehicular collisions.

Features:
• Impact damages all players mounted to the vehicle.
• Works with bots.
• Impact damages players mounted to turrets.
• Impact damage is now dynamic; any impact at a speed of 25 or greater will damage players in a dynamic fashion.
• Impacts at a speed of 75 or greater result in killing mounted players.
• Now works with vehicle, ground, and brick collisions.

Use /impactdamage to toggle this mod.

Server_Shove[v.1.0.0]

Allows players to click on other players and bots to "shove" them away. Requested by Georges.

Features:
• Cool-down: Prevents players from spam-shoving. Use /shoveTime # to set.
/shoveTime 0 and /shoveTime off disable it, and /shoveTime on or /shoveTime # (non-zero) enable it.
• Shoving power: Set the power of the shove by using /shovePower #.
• Toggle message: Toggle the message displayed during cool-down with /shoveMsg on and /shoveMsg off.

More features to come in the future!

Server_EventWhitelist[v.1.0.1]

Disables events for anyone not whitelisted. Requested by Bomb Kirby.

Features:
• Use /eventWL # to add a BL_ID to the list, and /eventRemoveWL # (where # is the person’s BL_ID).
• Use /eventWL off and /eventWL on to disable/enable the whitelist.

Script_SetPaintColor[v.1.0.0]

Sets paint can color to the color of the brick you are looking at (within 64 studs). Requested by Georges.

Features:
• Anyone on a server with this mod enabled can use /spc to set color.
• Anyone on a server with this mod enabled who also has the mod (which contains a client.cs) will also be able to set a keybind to use this mod. This is recommended, as it allows for much more efficiency when building.

Script_UsedBricks[v.1.0.1]

Lists bricks currently in use, and can export the list to a file. Useful for when sharing builds and hosting servers. Requested by Skig and TheBrighterDark.

Features:
• Host can list all bricks currently in use with /listUsed. List appears in console for easy reading.
• Once bricks have been listed, host can use /exportList "save name" to save the list to their Blockland saves folder.

Note: Use /listUsed before attempting to export an updated list; the list does not update automatically!

Server_VehicleFlip[v.1.0.0]

Flips vehicles onto wheels. Requested by Fastlex.

Features:
• Flips vehicle into an upright position with /flip, attempting to make it face as close to its original direction as possible. Vehicle stays frozen in place until the flip is complete, although this doesn't work with flying vehicles.

Changelog:
Support_Impact_Damage
[v.2]
- Fixed accidental turret damage.

[v.3]
- Added brick collision support.

Server_EventWhitelist
[v.1.0.1]
- Fixed Slayer isHost dependency.

Script_UsedBricks
[v.1.0.1]
- Fixed Slayer isHost dependency.

Off Topic / For all you music lovers...
« on: July 24, 2014, 08:04:05 AM »
Well, at least the ones who like electronic music. Audioland Records (label I'm with) is releasing their third compilation album soon, and I'm pretty stoked about it. I'll be on there with two tracks of my own, along alongside possibly BLF's very own Mango and YoungRotations, with Kingdaro, A.P.X., and possibly Psarius (ChickenMaster) as guest artists. There wil be other artists too, but those are the ones who I know from Blockland.

Also, this is the WIP for the second track I'll have on the album: Melted Glass [WIP]. It's probably the best melodic piece I've done (usually my melodic tracks are very simple).

Anyway, just wanted to share this with y'all 'cause I'm probably more excited about this than I am about turning 18 in three days, lol.

Modification Help / Detecting if player is in first or third person?

Client side or server side, doesn't matter. Is there a way to do this?

Add-Ons / Blockland Theme: Baby Blue
« on: July 20, 2014, 05:52:11 PM »
Baby Blue

Here's a simple skin. Simply drag all the files in the zip to Blockland > base > client > ui AFTER setting them to Read Only (unless you're using the Steam version, I think; then you don't need to bother with the read-only).

Gallery / Blockland Skinning Project: Baby Blue

So I finally decided to get off my butt for long enough to get this done, something I've been meaning to do for a while. This is possibly the first of several skins I'll make; this one's sort of a test run.

Alright, here it is guys. This is a relatively simple one, wanted to make it simple since this is my first time re-skinning Blockland. Link to download: http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=262929.msg7708850#msg7708850

Modification Help / How to bypass height control? [SOLVED]
« on: July 17, 2014, 07:38:40 AM »
Ok, here goes. First of all, how do I go about using the spacebar for an action while in a vehicle, if that's even possible? Secondly, how do I detect if a physics vehicle is grounded (in other words, wheels on the ground)? Thirdly, would I use applyImpulse to nudge a physics vehicle, or another function pertaining to velocity? Solved, look below for new questions. New issue, spacebar hits conflict with Support_HeightControl.

Help / Folder permissions are borked; no persistence whatsoever.
« on: July 05, 2014, 02:12:49 PM »
I've had the Steam version of Blockland for a while now, and I haven't bothered with trying to seriously fix this problem yet, but it's finally getting on my nerves. So here's what went down.

I transferred my key to Steam and downloaded Blockland. After doing that, I replaced the new cache.db, config, saves, and Add-Ons folders to the Steam directory. Then I opened Blockland, and that's where the issues began. Here's a list of what I can't do:

- Save builds
- Save changed preferences (including controls, clan tags, avatar, etc.)
- See any player decals, face and shirt included
- Modify/download add-ons through the game (e.g. Auto-Updater won't update)

So, it's rather annoying by now. I'm running Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks, but this problem still existed when I was on 10.7. I've tried deleting cache.db, changing the permissions of all the folders to read/write/execute for all, and verified game cache multiple times, all to no avail.

Help. (;~;)

Add-Ons / Snowboard [v.1.2.1] - First Person View Fixed [REDOWNLOAD]!
« on: July 04, 2014, 05:53:56 PM »
Snowboard [v.1.2.1]
Time to hit the slopes… er, Mod Terrain!

I love to snowboard, so I made this. Yay.

Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8kl6a6lrtc

Key features:

• Semi-realistic performance.
• Responsive.
• Two styles - white & black trims!
• Neato-pa-teato model.
• Colorable; your board will be the same color as your paint can.

Some things to note:

Only practical in third person. Fixed by 1.2.0 update.
• Can get stuck on bricks and Mod Terrain; pull up before hitting ramps.
• Best used with arrow keys instead of mouse (in certain scenarios).
• Must download addon to use forward facing first person view.

That last one? It’s occasionally pretty important, unless you have serious mouse skills. Unlike the skis, the snowboard is pretty sensitive (so epic tricks can be performed). As a result, it’s much easier to control and stick the landings when you use your arrow keys instead of the mouse steering. Don’t know how to do this? Follow these instructions:

1. Go to Options.
2. Click Controls.
3. Scroll down until you see the key bind area for Looking/Turning.
4. Set Turn Left/Right to their corresponding keys.
5. Set Look Down as the up arrow and Look Up as the down arrow. This emulates the inverted control style of a flight simulator. If you’d prefer it reversed, nothing’s stopping you.

Now you can use your arrow keys to control the snowboard. To adjust look sensitivity (keys only), do the following.

1. Go to Options.
2. Click Controls.
3. Adjust Keyboard Turn Rate to desired sensitivity.

For those who use their arrow keys for scrolling, I suggest you find a different set of keys to do the say function, set up similarly to WASD. Otherwise, you’re stuck with the trackpad (good luck)…

How 2 Trix - Trick Basics:

Ramp: Go down ramp, pulling up just before hitting the up-ramp.

Jump (on flat ground): Get going fast, then pull up. The board will “jump” into the air a little. Hit spacebar.

360º: Turn left/right sharply just before getting air, and continue to hold until the trick is complete.

Flip: Continue to pull up after you’re airborne.

Changelog:
[1.1.0]
• Added jump feature, hit spacebar to perform a jump.

[1.2.0]
• Added forward facing first person view; download addon to use! Thanks to Thorfin25 for helping me with this.
• Reduced uneccesarily large wheel size.
• Added raycast check to decrease number of faulty tumbles when colliding upright with the ground.

[1.2.1]
• Fixed bug that prevented forward-facing first person view to be used.

Modification Help / Locking a player's head rotation?
« on: July 03, 2014, 08:19:49 AM »
Is there anyway in a vehicle datablock (or not in the datablock) to lock the player's first person look abilities to 90° (in other words, they'd be stuck looking to the left). If possible, this would only affect the first person camera.

BluetoothBoy's Snowboard Beta Testing

Join the server if you want to try out the snowboards I'm working on. Build is in progress at the moment. More pictures soon!

NOTE: The server is hosted on my brother's dedicated server; look for "George's Snowboard Beta Testing!"

UPDATE: First beta test run was a hit! Server is still open for anyone who wants to check it out. Build is still a WIP, but we got a good working portion done.

Improvements to be made:

- Speed up boards/make it easier to go up ramps. Done.
- Forward facing in first person? Can't really fix this, sorry...

Current bugs:

- Small chance that the snowboard will turn to skis on tumble.
- Snowboard gets caught on ramp. Fixed, but still happens occasionally due to Blockland physics.

If you join the server and have any suggestions/have bugs to report, lemme know!

Released, DL here: http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=261733.msg7663032#msg7663032
