so basically theyre basing all of this on a what-if? this is bullstuff to the maximum, you can't base everything off of what-ifs, it just sends everyone into a spiraling loophole of fear.If you haven't carefully read the article I suggest you do. Just as the above poster said, they are taking into account figures like current nuclear arsenals, in their current state and development, political interactions between such powers, and the global trend of warming as this year was declared the hottest in recorded history.
It's basically a bunch of environmental scientists predicting the outcome of humanity. It's all theory work. This has happened 100s of times before, but these guys are a bit more credible than the religious nuts. They kinda know what they're talking about. If they were to say the world ends in 3012, in 3012 they are gonna be like "The Americans calendar predicted the apocalypse!"I don't think people are really reading the article. Although the name "doomsday CLOCK" is a little misleading, it's not really trying to plot this information as a factor of time. This is more a warning level, kinda like you might see in terms of risk for wild fires in dry areas and what not. And it's also not just environmental scientists, as there are many more factors than simply global warming that go into this change.
