It's also important to note that in some states, having blue lights or reflectors anywhere on your car or bicycle is also illegal because they're restricted to police vehicles.

True, in my state though solid blue is designated for firefighters. If I had red and blue that would give me some trouble.

That looks cool, but also really annoying for actually driving. Have you driven with them yet?

Yup, they look great, the strobe effect can get to you after awhile though since it flashes so fast.

Neon is legal so long as you aren't operating the vehicle with it on.

Oops.


Anyway thanks for the feeback guys. I finished installing the rear lights today so I will either post finished pics tonight of tomorrow.

As for the questions and such regarding the music sync effect. I may pull into a parking lot tomorrow or something and take a video of just how it looks with music playing.

Probably because they're distracting.

Yup, whoever made the laws in my state considered any type of neon a distraction to driving.

do they just stay on then?

I can turn them on and off as well as switch the modes via a control box I mounted inside the center console.

very nice, hope to do something like this when a get a car when i'm older. what kind of car do you have, and do you have outside neon lights?

2008 Ford Escape. And unfortunately no. Exterior neon lights are illegal where I live. Well, these neon lights I have are actually illegal too. Only difference is since mine are interior they are harder for police to spot.

Exterior is painfully obvious lol.

So after the installation of my new head unit and speakers I figured what else could I do to make my car stick out from others. I decided on getting LED light bars to give the floor of my car a glow effect. I chose blue since it matches the outside of my car. I ordered the kit and it arrived the next day:


So I've spent whatever free time I've had these past 2 days installing them. So far the front two tubes completely installed. I may do the back tomorrow if I have time. This is pretty much what my car looked like though throughout the whole time:


(Yes, that is a heater in the first pic, it gets cold in my garage)

Like I said, the back tubes are not installed yet but I got a taste of what the finished product is like for the front:

I'm happy with the result. The pictures I posted show the LEDs in solid mode, it has about 15 other modes as well as a mode that allows it to sync with whatever song is playing and make flashing effects that time with the beat of the song.

In my opinion the roof needs something. It seems to flat and bland compared to the rest of the build.

My mom goes to a chiropractor once a week because she has permanent neck injuries from a car accident she was in 25 years ago. She was hit by a drunk driver. I hate morons who drive drunk and endanger the lives of everyone around them without giving a stuff what could happen.
